Ascendance of a Bookworm

Lumtophu and shoes

Spring on the calendar, that said, there's still as little snowstorm outside, and the cold doesn't make you feel so harsh and spring.

But with fewer snowstorms, Thuri comes to visit more days. That means the day is approaching when you can go home, and you can't help but be happy.

One day, Touri came with a small pot.

"Hey, Mine. This was supposed to be eaten in the winter, wasn't it? What are you gonna do? I haven't got mine, so I've been keeping it. My mother said to ask Mine how to use it."

Tulli puts it on the table and opens the lid. At the same time, a twinkly alcoholic odor popped into my nose. Inside are brown, thickened fruits soaked in plenty of alcohol. It was a pot in which the rumtopph that was soaked in the house was subdivided.

I had completely forgotten that I had been diligently marinating fruits since summer, and I took a breath of hiss.

"Geez! I forgot about this place because there was honey and sugar and I made jam!

"... I knew it"

Lumtophu, who was wearing various kinds of fruits to alcohol, is completely raised. I can see the corners of the fruit are removed, rounded, and the alcohol is thickened. I think I'll be eating soon, but how can I eat it?

"What do we do? At first I was going to eat it with 'ice cream' or 'pudding', but the easiest sweetness you can make at home is paru cake, right?

When I started making it in the summer, I had no plans to cage it in the temple, so I was going to take sugar and rumtopf to Lutz's house and have it cooked. I had been offered eggs, milk and labor, and as a new recipe, I was going to make ice cream and pudding and chop the fruits of Lumtophu into small pieces and eat them.

But the plan became more bubbly than I could go to Lutz's house. I have to figure out how to make it easy for my family to eat at home.

"Should I make a paru cake and eat this from the top?

"Cut the Lumtophu into small pieces. I think Thuri and her mother would be happy to only eat fruit and give the leftover alcohol to her father. We made the rest of the paru cake together a couple of times, didn't we? French toast! It's delicious on that one. Then, then..."

The classic treat to use Lumtopf is Stolen, but I don't have an oven at home so I can't bake it.

"Mine, calm down. Here, what do you make and eat? You can't have Paru cake, can you?

"... yeah"

I basically want to avoid passing on Paru cake recipes to Ella. So if you want Ella, the cook, to help you, you can't have Paru cake. There's not enough Lumtophu to get the orphanage kids involved and make Paru cakes in the women's wing.

"I wonder what would be good?" Stolen "is a classic, but it's going to take some time to get it made today, isn't it? Um, let Ella make the 'crepe'"

"... is that okay if I publish the recipe?

My recipes were used in Italian restaurants, sold to Ilse and Frieda, and only a little wary of Thuri, who knew it would lead to money.

"Maybe. There's a dish similar to 'Crepe'... and you think it's gonna be okay?

What I have seen in this city is not crêpes, but dishes like garrets made with soba flour, cooked with eggs, ham or mushrooms or cheese. It is made in the dining room as a snack.

But surprisingly, I've never seen Garrett as a dessert before. It may be made somewhere, but I don't know. Basically, I'm thinking that filling my stomach is a priority in Lower Town, and I may not have a choice because it's not a diet that can weigh on sweetness.

"Fran, can you get a cream ready soon?

"It's a cold season, so it's easy to prepare. How much do you need?

When I looked back, Fran had already waited in the position of taking notes with the calligraphy board in his hand.

If you have milk that has not been treated at all, it is not that difficult to take raw cream if you have a lot of milk, because if you leave it in the cold, the fat will separate. Though caution should be exercised because removing too much moisture will bring you closer to croted cream.

"Then get me both a cup or so of cream and a cup or so of milk"

"Yes, sir."

I also have soba flour in the food pantry, so I can make it in the garret, but I want to make it a crepe made of flour this time because of my personal preference.

It seems that sweets made with sugar are basically for nobles. If you're going to make it in the kitchen in this room, you'd better make it a little more aristocratic than the dishes that are also eaten in Lower Town. Have them make crepes and eat them with foamed raw cream and small chopped lumtopphs.

I immediately began to write a recipe for the crepe as I headed to the big ice room where Fran was in the aristocratic area to get the cream. I have to give this to Ella to make it.

"Hey, Touri. Um, look, the name of a dish that you cook and eat with ham or cheese on a dough made of soba flour with water and salt, you know?

"Oh, Garrett."

"Yes, it"

I learned how to call Garrett in this city, and I add to the procedure of making it, "Bake thinly like Garrett".

By the time I finished writing the recipe, Fran had gotten me milk and cream in a handled milk pot like a splash of water.

Fran with a milk pot in the kitchen comes upstairs.

"Fran, ask Ella to make this. Tell him to bake it like a garrett and just bake the dough without adding anything. Ella probably knows that. If it burns, put it on a plate and carry it. Would you ask me to do that?

"Yes, sir."

When I gave the recipe to Fran, Tulli stood up with a pot filled with lumtopph.

"Um, Fran. I'll help you. Can I see where you're making it?

Now that I know that Touri is interested in professional cooking, I ask Fran from me as well.

"Fran, I'm used to my recipes if you're Touri, and I don't think you can get in the way, so why don't you ask Ella? I'd really like to go, but if I did, everyone would get nervous and get in the way, wouldn't they? I'll be waiting for you here, please, Touri."

I think we should be so girly to make sweets together. Ella and her assistant girls are the ones in the kitchen during the winter cage, so the chatter that sounds like a break also sounds kind of gorgeous and awesome fun.

If Thuri interacts, I want to go with him, but as a blue witch apprentice, I have no choice but to endure.

"Ladies are surprisingly tough."

Tulli turns his sympathetic caged eyes to me, who will not be free even in his own room. Here, I am stranger because the common sense of Lower Town doesn't make sense. I was pleased with the presence of Thuri, who had the same consciousness, and I nodded heavily.

"That's right. It's just so cool."

"... all cool, socks?

"Yes!"

Touri and my gaze turn to my feet. Then he looked at each other and laughed bitterly with his shoulders flaunted. It's really not easy, lady.

"Master Mine, what are you talking about socks?

After Tulli had gone to the kitchen with Fran, Delia came looking intrigued. When it comes to the topic of clothing and hair decorations, a small laugh comes to my mind when I gently stop by Delia.

"These socks are cold."

My socks are thin fabric, long as they are halfway through my thighs. There's no rubber. The socks in this city have long strings attached.

When I wear clothes every morning in the temple, I am the first to fasten my fabric belt. Next, put on the sock and tie the long string on the sock to its belt. It's like a simple garter belt.

Then wear something like a culot that is longer than your knees and thinner and has plenty of room. There's a string around this knee, and it's about to tie. These pants are so unreliable. My butt sucks compared to the Reino era. I will be wearing the shirt above after this.

But now you'll never see your bare feet.

In millionaires and noble classes showing barefoot is supposedly an embarrassment, so men and women always wear socks. This is like a hobby or a courtesy, and it is supposedly very naughty not to wear socks.

I started wearing socks when I wore apprenticeship clothes from the Guilberta Chamber of Commerce, and even gray clerics and witches are bound to wear socks in the temple.

"... Dear Mine, what do you mean your socks are cold?

"Unlike the temple, the socks in the lower town are practicality oriented."

For people in Lower Town, socks are cold proof. I don't wear it in the summer. In winter, you stick your foot in a bag like a wipe knitted in yarn and tie the string. This is all the way to the ankle, so you still wear a wool knitted leg warmer around your knee. The emphasis is on cold protection, so it's pretty warm when you put it on top of a few layered trousers.

"But Touri's socks don't look good."

"Yeah, right. But sometimes I want warmth more than it looks."

"... If you needed warmth, why didn't Master Mine prepare his deep shoes?

Nobles who care about appearance do not use leg warmers knitted in yarn. Use boots up to the knee with bristles on the back. Sure, if you wear boots like that, I think they're warm.

But I did not know that I should not wear a legwarmer in the temple, so I did not bother to have my back tailored to a bristled boot at a time when I had no money. The shoes I use are short boots made of leather with an emphasis on ease of movement, used by apprentices at the Guilberta Chamber of Commerce.

"At least, if I was an adult, I could have hidden it in a long skirt..."

It's cold just thin cloth socks to move around the temple, so when I tried to use a legwarmer, Rosina rejected me.

My skirt is under my knees so I can see the whole thing when I put on the leg warmer. Ha, and an unfortunate sigh, Delia catches a kick in the eye.

"Me too! Master Mine! Just because you can't see, don't let it get out of your stylish hands!

...... Delia's female power, seriously high.

I want to prioritize cold protection over stylishness, but my surroundings do not forgive me any more than I am a temple.

"Tailor your deep shoes so you won't forget them the next winter. That's just the cold stuff."

"You should do that."

"Master Mine will have to tailor some of his shorts soon. Not a single pair of ladylike decorated shoes. You should ask Master Benno to call the shoemaker."

Apparently the paperwork has come to a halt. Rosina's got her mouth pinched. When heading to the Spring Prayer Ceremony, they advise that the shoes they have may be in trouble for one.

"If you ask me now, I'll be there in time for the prayer ceremony, but don't order early"

"Rosina, tell me the important thing that's going to take so long."

"Yeah, I'll be careful. I still don't know what I'm missing from Master Mine."

Apparently Rosina didn't think I only had one shoe. I was wondering if you would have some similar shoes, but now that you have a winter cage, you say you are surprised by the fact that you only have one shoe.

There are two types of shoes used in Lower Town. The poor are wooden shoes like sabo. If you can't even wear wooden shoes, it's not uncommon to just wrap a blush cloth around it or be barefoot. I used wooden shoes until it was time to make apprenticeship clothes for the Guilberta Chamber of Commerce.

Besides, I couldn't think of making new shoes until I crushed them. Even though Reino era had many legs for normal use, the environment is a change of mind.

I open the calligraphy board and write down that I ask Benno to tailor my shoes.

"Hey, Master Mine. What skin do you tailor? Is that a horse? Or a pig? How about one cloth shoe, too?

Delia keeps her eyes shining. It really eats well for stylish relationships.

It's bad for the exciting Delia, but I don't have any knowledge of it. I don't know what designs of shoes are popular here and where and what shoes are used, I don't know what shoes I deserve. I'm going to see how Rosina chooses this one and let her study it.

"I basically leave what shoes to Rosina to tailor. Order me the shoes you need most right now. Because if I order it, it's going to be the same as it is now."

"Yes, I did. I'll take care of it."

Fran and Tulli came up from the kitchen with a plate when Rosina's story started a little about what kind of shoes she needed on what occasions. Plates with carefully foamed white cream and plates with small cut lumtopphs line the table.

Delia, tea, please.

"Yes."

Delia heads to the kitchen to Fran's voice. Tulli and Fran line up the cutlery and head back to the kitchen again.

Now I brought a plate with a round baked crepe on it. It's for two with Thuri to eat with.

"Dear Mine, thank you for waiting"

Cotto and plate are placed in front of you. The same crepe I had in my memory was in front of me. Tighten your eyes to the sweet smell that tickles your fluffy nostrils.

"I cut this."

He pointed to Lumtophu's plate as Touri said so as he seemed to be good at it. And it tells me how handy Ella is and how hard the assistant girls work.

"Fran, can you bring me some honey, though I'm sorry? And, if possible, could you call Ella here?

"Why the hell is that?

"I want to show you the finished shape of this treat. I want it to be the kitchen from next time until the end."

I know raising the cook upstairs is not the preferred thing for Fran. But crepes are troublesome even if they think they're done just baking dough.

"I will teach Ella, so Master Mine knows it's enough to teach me"

"… then remember Fran"

I spoon the raw cream and place it in a fan-shaped shape about 1/6 in front of half of the dough to apply. I spooned and scattered a small chopped lumtophu over that cream.

"Apply the cream in front of you more than half way and triangulate it like this. Cream is just fine with as little as it takes. Spread Lumtophu over it. This is plenty. If the season is different, we'll use the fruit of that season, so even if it's not Lumtophu, we can make crepes."

As I explained, I draped a little honey from the top of Lumtophu. And fold it in half with Peta and round it up.

"This way, you can even eat with it in your hand. If you want to eat in cutlery like a nobleman, fold it like this without circling it here. And this way, with cream, fruit and honey, it's done."

Once the rounded crepe was re-sauteed on the plate, and the raw cream was served aside. He then adorns the plate with lumtopph and honey cutely.

Fran looked at the finished shape of the crepe and blinked several times.

"... it is certainly not embarrassing to send this to the nobles."

"Wow, cute! Sounds delicious, Mine."

Touri begins decorating his plate crepes with great joy.

Delia watches with intrigue, but Delia can be eaten only after I have finished eating. I miss being unable to eat with the side service, but I can't help it if they tell me it's a decision.

"So here we go!

Touri makes a satisfying voice and stares at his plate. Pretty good for a touri not familiar with decorating plates.

"We thank and pray for the will of the Gods, the Supreme God who presides over the high pavilion sky, the Great God of the five pillars who presides over the wide and hospitable earth, who graces tens of millions of lives as our food, and we receive this meal"

Cut only a bite of dough and carry it to your mouth. Only the ends of the soft crepe fabric were slightly crisp and slightly sweet. Next, I cut the area with the raw cream and put it in my mouth. Little sweetness is applied to the smooth raw cream itself wrapped in a slightly elastic fabric. However, the honey caught with the cream adds an indescribable sweetness.

And on several bites, I bumped into Lumtopf. At the moment of chewing, the alcoholic odor and strong sweetness creep out of the thickening, melting, textured fruit.

"What do you say, Touri?

"Delicious, Mine"

Touri's mouth turned to this one with a full smile on her face was cream and sticky.

"Touri, full of mouth cream"

"'Cause this, it's hard"

There's a trick to using cutlery to eat crêpes. Fight the crepes and narrow your eyes to the deliciousness of the meal you eat with someone, laughing at Thuri, who is sticking around your mouth with cream.

"Ha, happiness. Now I want 'pudding'. You want me to make it the next time Thuri comes?

"A new treat? Wow, fun."

I wanted to taste this delicacy and happiness with my family, and I really wanted to go home soon.
