Chapter 64 - 30: A World Within the Temple
A strand of Sword Qi was imprinted within his Mysterious Domain. The Sword Qi was exceptionally bright—it was the very Dao Image he had comprehended.
Had it not been for the Qi Mechanism resonance with Yuan Weiyang, he could never have comprehended Sword Qi to the point of imprinting it upon his Mysterious Domain in such a short time!
Yuan Qi urged, "While we’ve been standing here at the temple gate, a lot of people have already gone inside. If we’re any later, they’ll have picked the place clean!"
Just then, a voice came from inside the temple. "There’s an Immortal! There’s an Immortal in the temple!"
Xu Ying hurried into the broken temple. The moment he stepped through the entrance, he felt as if he had passed through something, though he couldn’t see what it was.
Xu Ying looked up and saw three Immortal Mountains floating in the sky. Massive boulders also hung in the air, like pearls on a necklace, drifting in a regular pattern around the mountains.
Many people were climbing up along the boulders, trying to reach the Immortal Mountains in the sky.
Suddenly, the ground shook violently. Xu Ying and Yuan Qi lost their footing and were almost thrown into the air!
Xu Ying quickly activated his Elephant Power Ox Demon Fist, standing firm and unmoving like a Divine Elephant taking root. Yuan Qi tried to copy him but still struggled to keep his balance. Fortunately, he had one more tail than Xu Ying, and he wrapped it around a large tree to keep from being flung away.
Not far away, the Divine Spirits and Nuo Masters who had just entered the Broken Temple World took action. Cyan vines danced through the air and roots burst from the earth, catching those who had been thrown and pulling them back.
Just as everyone was reeling in shock and confusion, the tremors from deep underground grew even more intense. The ground rose higher and higher—another Immortal Mountain was actually tearing itself from the earth right beneath their feet!
Someone shouted, "We’re ascending to the heavens! How do we get down?"
As he spoke, the subterranean Immortal Mountain finally broke free from the ground completely, carrying them floating up toward the sky!
The first things in its path were the great boulders drifting in the sky. They had broken off when the previous two Immortal Mountains had risen and were now left floating in the air. As this new mountain ascended, it collided with those boulders with horrifying momentum!
The people on the Immortal Mountain were already struggling just to stay on their feet; how could they possibly have any way to avoid the crashing boulders? Instantly, many Divine Spirits and Nuo Masters were struck and smashed into a bloody pulp!
Others were crushed by rolling boulders, reduced to a mangled mess of flesh and blood!
Worse still, some lost their footing and slid off the Immortal Mountain, their long, tragic screams echoing through the air. They screamed until their voices were hoarse, and they still had not hit the ground!
The Immortal Mountain soared up, rising higher and higher into the sky. Many great boulders broke away from its body, plummeting down from above!
The Immortal Mountain finally stabilized. Xu Ying, whose muscles had been pulled taut, slowly relaxed. He turned to look at Yuan Qi and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing him still clinging to the large tree.
Xu Ying looked down. He had no idea how far they now were from the ground. Faintly, he could even still see the figures of those who had fallen from the Immortal Mountain.
They were Nuo Masters who had failed to keep their footing. He estimated it would still be some time before they hit the ground.
"There’s a temple within the temple, and an Immortal is preaching the Dao inside!" a resonant voice called out from the distance.
"A real Immortal?"
Xu Ying was both shocked and overjoyed. He followed the sound and saw that the four Immortal Mountains did indeed surround a magnificent and imposing temple. Many people were already leaping through the sky, hopping from one floating boulder to the next, making their way toward the grand structure.
"Ying, let’s go too!" Yuan Qi said excitedly.
Just as Xu Ying reached the edge of the Immortal Mountain, about to step onto a boulder, an old man in purple-black silks with a grim expression suddenly appeared before him, his hands clasped behind his back.
"My son died such a miserable death." Zhou Yihang’s expression was caught somewhere between a sob and a sneer.
Xu Ying’s heart lurched, but he quickly composed himself. "So, it’s Mr. Zhou," he said. "Your son’s death was so tragic. Why don’t you go down and keep him company? I’ll send you."
