DeepSea tapped on a button.

A hologram of Captain Peterson appeared.

The three other admirals seated at the side listened to the conversation.

"Sir. I called to give you an update concerning the Ashen Wasteland mission," Peterson said.

"Proceed," DeepSea replied.

A holographic screen appeared.

[High Difficulty Mission Completed.

Operation Thin Ashen Wasteland.

Operative sent on mission: Private Aiden Vhorn.

Mission Assessment Criteria: Exceeded Expectations. Operative Vhorn managed to destroy the Ashen Wasteland.

Contribution points awarded: 600,000 contribution points]

"This is the report, sir. You were right about him. He’s really exceptional," Peterson said with a smile on his face.

DeepSea was fuming inwardly. He wanted to strangle Peterson. However, he knew Peterson was oblivious to the fact that he had planned the mission to get rid of Aiden Vhorn.

He maintained a dignified and superior demeanor.

"As expected. Someone who is labeled a catastrophic threat by the computation of The Analyser would not die so easily," DeepSea and the three other admirals thought.

DeepSea simply nodded. "Indeed. Where’s Vhorn now?"

"Currently, operative Vhorn is still not back. He must be headed back." Peterson replied.

"Alright. Arrange an assembly for when he arrives. Private Vhorn should be awarded for his achievement," DeepSea said.

"Noted, sir," Peterson replied.

"Dismissed," DeepSea said.

"Sir!"

The hologram disappeared.

DeepSea looked at Sarah, Newton, and Fluria.

"You saw the report, right?" DeepSea said.

They nodded.

"We did. I suppose we will proceed as planned?" Sarah said.

"Indeed. That’s why I’ve arranged the assembly," DeepSea said.

"That’s a clever approach," Newton said. "To the recruits, the result for his achievement will be to select one of us as his master. If he rejects all of us, that’s when we put on an act, behave angrily enough for everyone to realize we are pissed at him. That way, no one will be willing to stand by him. We will also use that as an opportunity to blacklist him from getting any promotions in the future."

"I will proceed with the order to freeze his purchasing ability. He can’t use his contribution points for anything. After isolating him, we will send him to missions in deadly areas where he’s definitely bound to die sooner or later," Fluria said.

"As for assassinations, we should avoid that. The fact that he managed to survive the assassinations of the industries that want him dead indicates that it’s not an effective method to kill him," Sarah added. "If those industries manage to get rid of him, it works in our favour. If they are unable to get rid of him, he will definitely die during one of the missions we will send him on."

"I will make sure to anonymously leak the travel routes to his mission destinations to the dark web. That will at least alert the bounty hunters of his location. Even if we won’t send assassins after him, we can at least accelerate the work of the assassins hired by the industries to kill him," DeepSea said.

Frontlines.

Sector 3.

Somewhere outside base c322.

In a forest.

It was currently night time. The trees were white because of the snow.

A silhouette with crimson wings flashed through the forest with uncanny speed.

Aiden was currently in thought as he was travelling back to the base.

"Since I received a notification that my mission is complete, Captain Peterson must have received the notification too. He will follow military protocol and report the outcome of the mission to Vanum DeepSea. I suppose they will proceed with their backup plan since I didn’t die."

"They will strip me of any possibility to get any backing in the military. To pull off something like that, they will need an audience who will witness the situation and spread the news. It’s possible they will frame their decision to ask me to be the disciples of one of them to the base operatives as a reward for destroying the Ashen Wasteland. That will make them look magnanimous. That way, if I reject them, I become the villain, and an ungrateful, arrogant, disrespectful recruit with lack of foresight. No major, colonel, or general in the base will dare associate themselves with someone who has disrespected three superiors. Doing that will be offending the admirals."

"The first group of assassins I came across when I was headed to the Ashen Wasteland mentioned that someone leaked Intel about my travel route. It was mostly Vanum DeepSea. He’s very careful. He does not want to send assassins after me because he does not want anything to be traced back to him. So, he is rather leaking information to the dark web to accelerate the assasination process of the bounty hunters sent by the industries after me. I am sure that will continue during the other missions I will take on. But it seems I’m missing something. What variable am I not considering?"

Aiden stopped running. He sat on a tree and closed his eyes. He was in deep thought.

"I can’t use my contribution points for anything, I suppose. If I were in their position, I would mostly cut off any growth system of anyone deemed a threat. But they have miscalculated. I am not a traditional warrior. So I don’t need cultivation resources. The only downside is I can’t purchase poisons to deal with threats. But, I can manage my way around that."

Aiden decided to confirm it. He opened the shop bar at the base.

He saw some poisons listed in the price list and decided to purchase them with contribution points.

[Account Under Administrative Audit / Purchasing Restricted].

This was the notification that popped up the moment he tried to buy anything.

"It’s funny how they think handing me dangerous missions, isolating me, freezing my purchase options, blacklisting me from promotions, and leaking my mission travel routes will get me killed." Aiden shook his head. A cold glint flashed through his eyes.

"I prefer isolation more than anything. Plus, promotions will come with responsibilities that will limit me. These guys don’t know they are actually helping me." Aiden chuckled.

He flapped his crimson wings and bolted off with swift speed.
