Ashes and Kingdoms

2-8. Hands to move on

After dinner, the family accumulated a little away from the children and talked to them in a whisper.

"No!" Nellis disagrees immediately. "If your brother didn't take the letter, what would happen!? Everyone in Nanais is waiting for help!

"I know, Nellis."

Calm down, Finn says. Nellis held her mouth in panic. Next to it, Oandus roars, um, low.

"But I don't know. If Igros says he can't go any further, I agree with him that we can't get to Winnea alone. I was just ambushing one of them in the street, and it was all wrong.... if I could fight."

Ha, and Oandus sighed. There is no weapon, even if there is power, and even if there is a weapon, it cannot be handled. As much as they wielded axes and sticks, foxes that vandalize the fields and target livestock huts have no effect on the beasts of darkness.

"Even if we could all fight, it would probably be difficult."

Finn snapped with a dark face. If we can get rid of about four or five men, it won't be long before the Winnean legions send one platoon each to the streets. I wouldn't have been in a situation like this myself.

"But then..."

Nellis clouded his tail and silenced. Finn also found out that he swallowed the word there was nothing he could do about it. We're discussing it because we want to do something about it, but the conclusion just goes into the trail.

and Fauna, who remained silent until then, reluctantly opened her mouth.

"Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't go down the street?

"Huh?"

"If you're being ambushed, head to Winnea without going down the street."

"Such impotence," Oandus shook his head at Fauna, who tilted his neck and asked.

If we go off the street, we don't know where we are. Even though the directions can be seen by the stars and the sun, if there are wetlands and marshes in the way you go, or if there are no bridges in the river, you can force a roundabout. You'll get lost while you're doing that.

Besides, there are few people off the streets. In other words, there is no desire for clean well water or just a few pieces of food.

But Finn sharply controlled it before Oandus overlapped the words of denial.

"Please wait. Then maybe I can."

"What? Are you serious, Phineas?"

"Of course, I can't be too big off the street... but I've got a little something on my mind."

Finn said so and stood up with his sword in his hand, as in custom.

"If it works, we can make a decision in the morning. Not in a few days."

To the way I put it, Nellis looked up haha.

"Brother Finn, maybe... you need that spiritual help, right? I ask you to come with me!

Before even hearing back, Nellis is grabbing Audia's corner light. Finn stopped it.

"Don't panic, Nellis. If things have been going on so far, Lena only comes out on the moon and night. I don't need that. If it's cloudy...... or if I hear that noise, I can't open the door. Uncle and aunt, please go to sleep first. Whether Lena shows up or not, you won't need a lookout."

"Hmm. I'd like to see that spirit, too, but I don't know, do you think you'll see me?

"I'd like to say hello, too."

Finn had a little trouble with his eyes because they replied like that.

"What do you think? Because Lena doesn't seem very good at talking to humans. I'd be in trouble if a lot of people didn't come out, and please rest for now tonight. If Lena shows up, I'll ask everyone if they'll see me."

Told, Oandus and Fauna looked at each other unfortunately, but did not eat down. Then raise your hips and move to the straw bunk the kids have prepared for you. Finn and Nellis were sneaky and headed for the temple's passage.

The doors are firmly lowered and easily hung. However, because it is a small town temple, the doors were made of crude wood, with gaps in the joints of the boards.

Finn shoves his eyes there and peeps outside.

"Looks like the moon is out."

The white light fills a narrow vision. Nellis pushed her ear against the door beside her.

"You can't even hear that noise. And... yeah, I guess... he's not here. I don't think they're here."

Finn looked down at his sister with a mild surprise. I tend to hesitate to speculate, but there is certainty in my expression. Finn figured she'd know. I know, but I just avoided asserting it because I haven't had the experience to prove that to be true.

Finn nevertheless carefully, with his sword in place, slowly removed the hanging. Place the cuff aside and gently open the door. Finn breathed a deeper relief as the blue and white moonlight poured into his feet.

As they went outside to slip, they closed the door and took a step forward.

"... beautiful"

Nellis crumbles. The town, lit by moonlight, was not only now abandoned, but was also thought to be in the garden of God. I think the goddess is walking right down the alley.

Fluffy white shadows appeared out of nowhere, as Nellis imagined.

"Lena."

Finn calls. To the gentleness of that voice, Nellis raised an eyebrow. I've never heard this headstone brother call anyone like this. Whoa, whoa.

Of course Finn never noticed in the heart of some complicated Nellis, and he stayed a few steps closer to Lena.

"Evening."

You're finally used to saying hello, too, and Lena said that without holding onto it and bowed a little shy. Finn also bows his head a bit when he is followed. Nellis, who was watching at the end, got itchy on the back, but whoa, it wasn't the other way around, and she turned back to me and ran over to her brother.

"Good evening, nice to meet you"

Lena chuckled fluently at Nellis, who hurried to greet her. Nellis gets puffed up and looked at as soon as possible. Lena, seen under the moonlight, seemed a few steps more beautiful than the other day.

(Oh, well)

Shiatsu View and realize why. As Finn said, when observed calmly, Lena's creation is not so much a standout beauty. It's just that my whole body is glowing soft. Besides, when I say the innocence of the expression.

(Jeans)

White fluffy jeans. I thought it was exactly what Finn metaphored, and Nellis was driven by the urge to reach out and hug him. And, as if I had guessed it, Lena would hold Nellis lighter first.

"You smell the earth," Lena whispered in her dreams. "The power of Master Naina. It's warm. And it's so beautiful."

"I don't know, but Lena's prettier, right?

It stinks a little on the boulder, and Nellis answers that. Ah, as Finn opened his mouth a bit, Lena's cheeks stained rosy. When Nellis was surprised, Lena let go of the mundane and Nellis, trying to hide them and put her hands on her cheek.

"Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, thank you."

I manage to say that, looking at Hiraki and Finn. Next to Nellis, who punches his eyes, Finn was biting off a laugh.

When Lena's complexion went back to normal, Finn coughed up and then cut it out.

"I need a favour from you, Lena."

"... what?

Lena tilted her neck, but Finn didn't miss the look.

- My parents sealed it so people wouldn't use it.

Wasn't that word heard before meant that the Spirit had limited man? Only in the wars of Tai Ancient times could a man use the Spirit. Since then, spirits and dragons have barely appeared in public, and even the gods no longer give great power to men.

They are on guard. I was wondering if humans would start fighting again enough to make the world jerk off.

Finn breathed slowly and carefully chose the words not to irritate Lena.

"We want to go to Winnea. But the streets are like ambushes of dark beasts. So in a place like that, you have to go all the way off the streets, in the wilderness, in the wetlands. I have a map, but no fine topography, and if they're around again, it's nothing."

That's it, Finn stared at Lena.

"... you have better eyes than us, and I thought you might see one of them or the other, the right place to go. If so... why don't you tell us?"

"You mean you want me to give you directions?

With a face like a clap out, Lena asks back. Finn nodded coldly.

"If you don't have to be moon-night to show up, if you don't mind helping people, I want you to help me. Can you see the children in this temple?

"Yeah. There's a lot of them. Everyone is... tired and hurt."

"I want to help those kids. If I could take you to Winnea..."

"Is it safe there?

Lena asks in a casual wind. Being poked at the most anxious part, Finn got stuck in his reply. Nellis answers on his behalf.

"I don't know, but it's a big town over there, and there's a lot of legion soldiers in the wrong digits. I think you're safe. Do I look like Lena?

Sifting, Lena shakes her head. Nellis smiled bitterly.

"Oh well. That's right. It takes four days to walk, and you can't see anything."

"If I could use the dragon's eye technique, though I could see it"

"What's that?

"Long time ago magic. If you bury or install a technique that mimics the dragon's eye in advance wherever you want to see it, you'll know how it is there. Humans used it a lot back in the war."

…………

Speaking of rustle and ancient magic, his brothers and sisters were often silent. I was suddenly made to realize that the girl in front of me was actually an outsider and had lived a different time than people.

Somewhat and Nellis reluctantly asked.

"You know, what's Lena... how many now?

"Huh? I'm the only one. Just one."

"?? Uh, no, about age. age. I mean, how long has it been since I was born?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. Uh, maybe, like, sixteen."

Sixteen, does that mean? Sure, it looks like it's close to a human around that age, but because of its unconfidential mouthfeel, it may be that the sense of time and age mean something different to a human being.

The brothers and sisters looked at each other strangely. Lena looks confused and anxious.

"Um... is that important?

"No, that's okay. I was just wondering."

Finn hand-wrestled Nellis, who had said something, to shut him up and put the story back to the main point.

"More than that, I wonder. Will you do us a favor?

"Yeah. Pleasure."

It's been a long time since I've heard back from such a pleasant acceptance. Finn was unintentionally impressed. Does Lena know what's in Finn's heart, makes her look happier to herself? but while it was also bundling, soon she lowered her eyebrows feeling sorry for her.

"Oh, but... you know, I, I can't stand and walk in front of you"

As always, the way Lena describes it is subtly deviated from “human flow”. In this case, it was not certain to my siblings, who were human, whether they could not stand before me or walk, or whether it meant something more.

On their bewildered faces, Lena continued her mundane explanations.

"Uh, well, I mean, if you're just gonna meet Finn at night like this - oh, uh, Nellis is fine, too, but that's fine. But I can't come out when too many people are awake."

"Because of the seal your parents put on it?

"Yes. Hate, desire, anger, that kind of emotion makes me... weak. You can't look like a person. I mean... because when you feel that way, it's easier for people to ask for strength. I mean, from before people like that, so they can hide."

Terrible explanation, but the reason goes. Finn looked at Nellis and said, then feeling a little discouraged.

"But Lena, we're not..."

"That's not all bad. Just my seal, because it is. Even if the greed and anger of each and every one is small, if dozens of children, hungry and nutty together, or some adult taking it, are tired and frustrated and angry, or mourn their impudence... no. Even if not, the world is full of human minds during the day."

I'm sorry, and Lena seems lonely. Finn shook his head.

"You have nothing to apologize for. Then the world must be hard for you to live in now."

"If it wasn't sealed, I'd be fine with that. So... I can only come out at night, but still?

"Sure. It'll help. So... sooner or later."

Finn took the folded parchment out of his pocket and spread it.

"If we were to leave in the morning, how far would it be safe?"

On parchment paper placed on the ground, the moonlight sagged. As Lena bends over and peeks in, a light of pale warmth straddles it.

"This is where we are now, isn't it? Then..."

Lena slowly lifts her neck and looks all around her. I guess those golden eyes see something completely different from human sight. Immediately she turned again to the map and followed the street with her fingers.

"Is it only around here that I can get there with my kids' feet? If we can get this far in one day, we'll be safe. But because the Dark Families aren't always in one place. Even if you never leave where you're ambushing, something else may be looking around. Be careful with that."

Lena says, pointing a little further down the street. Finn looked at the map and glanced at it.

"I'm pointing your finger at you. Is there anything to mark there?

"Oh, I did. Sorry. Uh... well, there's blue flowers all over the side of the road. Plus, um... there's a small well. It's safe to cross the night around here."

"Okay. Thanks."

Lena chuckled as Finn thanked her and folded the map. Noticing that finger was raised all the time, Finn hastily stopped by hand gesture.

"Wait, I'm going back inside the temple tonight. And Nellis."

That's it, he grinned bitterly at Lena, who was leaning his neck.

"Sometimes I want to be human, say goodnight greetings, and go into bed myself"

"Really? Bye."

With a suspicious face, Lena gently touched each sibling's forehead with her fingertips. I didn't immediately get drowsy, but Finn felt blurred that his body was getting ready for sleep. Nellis yawns on the side.

"Good night."

When Lena said as a dust, she hesitated for only a moment, then gave in slightly and kissed Nellis' cheek. Then I got a little nail ahead of me, and even to Finn...

"Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Finn rushes away. Nellis smiled and Lena let her eyes squeeze.

"Isn't this what a good night's greeting is?

"No, well, you know, what parents do to their kids, yeah. Not really, because... I mean, I'm not a kid anymore"

Finn excuses himself. Nellis smashed the flank with his elbow.

"Why don't you just say hello to your brother without thinking weird? Well, I'm going to bed. Good night, Lena."

Just sayin 'slightly, Nellis waves flirtatiously back inside first. Finn dropped it off with a pitiful face and was impressed with his great adaptability.

Turning around, Lena is still staring at Finn. That's what jeans are like.

…………

What's the matter? Finn conceived with his hand on his mouth and found one compromise.

"Yes, Lena, if you're that... sixteen what, because I'm older"

I bow down as I say, and for just a moment on Lena's forehead, I put my lips on. I thought it would be like touching a cloud, but unexpectedly it felt just like a normal human being. Lena rounds her eyes and hands where she is touched. Finn smiled at the trick.

"Good night."

Whisper, shithole and leave the spot. Looking back again before knocking on the door, Lena was still standing up with a red face with her hands on her forehead, but when she noticed Finn's gaze and turned back to me, she laughed embarrassingly and waved.

"Good night."

A happy voice, like a child. When Finn returned the nod, Lena's figure fluttered away to dissolve in the moonlight.
