Ashes and Kingdoms

4-7. Sneaky Demon

Despite remaining troubled and anxious, sleep was enough to be called bliss.

Even if Lena is invisible, her presence is felt strong and clear, and her spacious sense of emancipation and unwavering power fills her body and mind. Should I say omnipotence, or transcendence? But the feeling was not accompanied by pride or confidence. Something big beyond understanding, the feeling of blending into some of it.

Filled with gentle warmth, Finn fell asleep and woke up vividly in the mood as it was. My head has been refreshed since I woke up and my vitality is overwhelming.

(Is this also the power of 'bonding'? If so, that would be much appreciated)

I'm sorry, my God. There seems to be nothing to be apologized for.

(... you think there are still enough sacrifices to subtract?

Will we be dedicating it any time soon? Finn frowned, dressed and looked out the window.

The thin city is still quiet. Footsteps to the public water supply of the square gently pass through the alley, along with the twinkling of the barrel fittings. A servant, or a child's work in a common house.

I remember living in an orphanage in Nanais, and Finn was confused during the bundle. Then I shake my head and pay my concern. Even if you don't think about it earlier, you already have anxiety material in front of you. How long can you hide things from Lena, and what should you do for her when they are broken? What about my family...?

Fauna said oh, but Finn was going to do that, even if he was resented, if he was going to solve everything by disappearing. But you can't just disappear. If they were considered deserters, their families would be expelled from this residence.

(I wonder what's wrong)

With this and his head twisted, Finn disguised himself as the same as usual and headed to the Sentinel Stuff.

Fortunately, then peaceful days ensued for a while.

The streets leading south seemed a little safer thanks to the bandits being chased away, which did not create a single commotion. The environment of the troops remained the same, good or bad, nor did they even get a word of the dragon out of anyone's mouth. As if the part about Finn had been shredded from what happened that day. Only Euches said, "Are you hurt enough already?" Though he was so worried about Finn, who shouldn't have been injured or anything, that he made them all whitewash.

Whatever it was, it never meant anything would happen any time soon.... on the surface.

It was more than five days after one of the bandit exorcisms that the feared events had appeared twitchy, when the summer heat completely covered the north side.

Rumors spread and they reached their own ears.

Finn was walking in the garden of the barracks that morning. A dog fleeing early into the shade is drooling his tongue, gasping hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Finn looked at it with a little envy and smiled, but when he looked up, his gaze hit a strange young man. I'm sure he's an army soldier, but I don't even remember his name on his face. But the other person came all of a sudden and asked, fortunately, that they had seen each other.

"Hey, is it true the dragon came out? You're outside the walls, haven't you seen it?

It was such a straightforward question that Finn couldn't answer it instantly. I coagulate my expression without being able to repair it. Then thankfully, the other person interpreted it at will and scratched his head as if the bulk looked bad.

"No, that's just a rumor. I don't believe you either, but I'm sorry to ask you something weird."

Thinking he was suspicious of his sanity, he waved away to deceive and shitty.

When Finn hurried to the stuffing with the thought that he had finally arrived, the other faces that had already gathered had put together a disturbing black shadow.

"It's late. From that face, you heard it, too."

Valt roared and Finn nodded with a hard look.

"Rumors seem to be spreading. He didn't seem to know much about it."

"What I heard was just a dragon coming out. I thought it would come from somewhere."

Fuck you, added the usual curse, and Valt sighed.

All of a sudden a giant creature appeared. I don't care who the surviving bandits are, they talk all over the place, and maybe someone happened to see them through the streets, even at the tip of the white wing from outside the woods. But nevertheless.

"That was fast."

Finn whispered as hard to say, still stating the facts. Yeah, and Valt also responded, but they were both turning a blind eye to not look at anyone. I didn't want to conclude that someone in this unit leaked it. First of all, I can't help looking for the killer right now.

"What's the problem?"

Valt stretched white before turning to Finn.

"We may never find out about you, but it won't be long before we all get suspicious. If Dilgius hears... my prediction is he'll be eating with hungry wild dogs."

"Are you trying to use it?"

When Finn roared, one soldier sandwiched his mouth from the side.

"Captain, I'm on the lookout. I don't think I've ever heard anything good about it."

The tone is lightly relaxed, but the voice is somewhat profound. But Valt's just nodded in disgust and signaled him to go with his jaw.

Everywhere and the soldiers leave. Euches compared them to the captain in dissatisfaction and tried to say something to Finn, but ended up chasing his people with a swollen face.

From outside the door, which was deliberately or inadvertently closed, a tall voice protests to herself, "I think it's everyone's problem". Valt stood up tongue-in-cheek, but sooner that hand touched the grip, someone hurriedly closed Batan from the outside.

Valt stared at his sparkling hand and coughed up, then sat down on his chair vaguely clamping his shoulders. Finn also sits in a chair across the street, shown by hand.

"Well."

Valt looked at Finn decently for the first time and said with a harsh look.

"Do you want me to answer honestly? What are you going to do now?

The soldiers, who came back to the filling after a while, dared not ask anything. With the exception of Eucis.

"In the end, come on, I wonder what we should do. I'm in trouble."

To a loud soliloquy, Finn glanced at Valt for a moment and replied in an ambiguous tone.

"As always, you should cut me white. That way you won't have to worry about finding out about me, and if anything happens, it's my only problem, so I won't bother everyone."

"You alone..."

He forcefully blocked the Euches he was about to say, and one of the soldiers raised his voice.

"Sure, it's not about us. If you look at it, it will be."

Finn nodded and went outside only whispering "bye" to the captain. The voice of Euches follows.

"Hey, where are you going?

"Shut up, Eucis. I asked him to run errands."

Valt told me to be picky, and Euches kept his uncomfortable face, once he shut his mouth. but soon saw the closed door and was alone.

"I wonder if you know how important it is"

There was no one to respond, and the words drifted in the air, and collapsed.

Finn at the time was not concerned about Euches concerns or anything, but filled his head with his own thoughts and rushed to the orphanage.

Fauna and Oandus, who looked after the children indoors, looked suspicious at Finn, who appeared in the middle of the day, unlike usual.

What's the matter, Oandus whispers sharply. Finn leaned his little neck in the guise of an attitude of nothing.

"No, it's not urgent. Just for the Legion..."

"Of the Legion? You mean Mac."

Oandus inquires in surprise. Now Finn has a stranger face. Answer that. Oandus vaguely shows the separate room in the back.

"Earlier, the great men of the Legion came. Looks like he's here to encourage Mac to join the army."

Mac is back, whether that word ends or not. A soldier who was with him beside him turns around and notices Finn as he tries to break up. It was Ancius.

"Phineas? Why are you here?"

"I, on the orders of Captain Valt..."

It was you who wanted to say that Finn glanced anxiously at Mac before advancing to Ancius.

"I'm talking about Igross, who accompanied me from Nanais. He died before entering Winnea, but he was a legion soldier too, so he wanted to put him in a proper grave. So I'm gonna talk to you about finding the remains."

"I see," Ansius nodded stubbornly. "The funeral of the martyrs is the responsibility of the Legion, indeed. Sometimes, Phineas, how are you feeling? Looks like we had a fancy fight the other day."

"I'm getting used to my job a lot"

Finn answers briefly and maintains a vague and faceless look that shows upset. Hmm, and Ansius raised his eyebrows after what he said, but in the end the scene was like, "Really? Well, it's like we can't make much of a stopover," he left.

When he lost sight of his boss, Finn quickly rushed over to Mac.

"What did they say?

He said, "Why don't I join the legion?"

Mac looked serious feeling something disturbing about Finn's attitude, but still seeped pride in his voice.

"I'm a little underage, but for one thing I was told I should go in in the name of a choreographer and actually start getting military training. Then, as soon as it turns eighteen, you can become a corporal or something."

…………

Finn did not know how to perceive his words and thought with his face up.

If Mac really wants to live his life as a professional soldier, he's happy to do it. Good story. In this day and age, there are a handful of jobs that can be expected to be food free and future.

But that's why Finn felt something he couldn't swallow.

Why did an officer with a title like Ancius bring that story all the way to the orphanage? Within the early hours of a prospective boy, if so, he would introduce me to the orphanage without a word or two. There is no need to go out in between busy times.

"Mac. I just want to be happy for you too, but the situation is... a little complicated. Did Ansius say anything else? Didn't they ask you about me?

"I knew it was a brother tangle," Mac stood aside and clapped his shoulders. "Otherwise, there's no way anyone's gonna come to see me without a regiment leader."

"I know very well that your improvement is remarkable, and that you're the one I can count on. But you don't know Ancius."

Finn responded with a straight face, so Mac looked complicated because he lit up and his nose was white. Nellis would say, "Because I'm really bored," though. But Mac answered as he tilted his neck, as he had not yet reached that frontier.

"That's right. How can I be a little strange too... maybe the priest let me know. There is one person in our orphanage who is likely to be a promising soldier of the Legion, he said. Nothing was asked about Brother Finn. I was just checking to see if you were here with me."

"... If so, have the rumors not reached the top yet"

"Rumors? No way, Brother Finn"

"Oh, it's like it's spreading across the legion. I don't know who it is, but the dragon showed up. So the captain figured out a way..."

Talking in secret, he received a voice from outside guiding him, "Here you go, this way". The two hold their mouths hacked and turn reflexively. Nellis was about to bring in a guest. She showed a slight look at Finn's presence, but does not represent her attitude any more, and continues to guide her in an unfamiliar manner. What emerged from behind was a wealthy middle-aged man.

"What's that?

Finn asked Mac softly, feeling uncomfortable.

"I told you before, I'm an old man who wants to pick up Farnayne."

Mac answers with a whisper too. Finn seldom followed the man with his eyes. Unaware of his gaze, the man walks snuggly after Nellis. I also found out beside my eyes that my chest was just beautiful in anticipation.

From another small room, Farnayne appears, taken by an orphanage official.

At that moment Finn was struck by intense discomfort, like a sudden cold rot pressed against his face. Your spine gets thinner and your stomach is depressed. In front of me, it looked like a swamp wrapped around the man's entire body.

(What the hell, what the hell happened)

In a corner of confused Finn's consciousness, Lena's heart quietly suggests. This is "visible," he said.

Indeed, Finn's eyes reflected a temper that others would not have seen. Or so, my vision so far has not been covered up or hidden.

Even if it looks normal. The way a man is grinning and stroking Farnein's head, giving him ribbons and confectionery, it's not any change or hiding in itself. But at the same time, another sensation captures the temper and sends the identity directly to Finn's brain.

- In the man's consciousness, Farnayne had been naked. A man's imaginary hand is stroking every corner of the girl in front of him, causing her to take a slutty stance.

"... Huh!

Finn fell to his knees, unable to cope with much. Bad chest, I think I'm going to throw up backwards.

When the man spoke to me in a very gentle voice and the mansion was ready, I knew what it really meant.

The room used by someone who was ahead of Farnayne, cleaning it up, cleaning it up, and 'finishing' any trace of that person. That's "prep," he said.

Mac or Oandus worries and speaks out loudly. As soon as their hands rubbed their backs, the chills soaked, the sensation of incompetence closed, and the five senses came back to normal. Still, Finn couldn't get back on his feet right away, taking a rough breath as he nodded on the floor, staring at the carpet weave. Looks like a corner of my head is still paralyzed.

(This is... Lena, is this what you see as a human being? To this end)

I don't always see everything.

Lena's voice echoed in the paralyzed part. Finn doesn't have the power to be surprised, just convinced that he does.

But I see something strong. Because desire, anger and hatred are particularly prominent. Of course, it's easy to see great joy, happiness, or... someone as beautiful as Finn.

But that was a small number, and Lena's voice sounded a little frightened. Finn lingers and spills a slight bitter laugh. It's not a dragon's fault, it's a human responsibility. Or do you regret the “oath” that was supposed to show such a thing again? Either way,

"It's not for you to apologize. It's gonna be okay.

Speaking consciously as well as thinking, Finn inhaled his breath strongly and deeply. It's okay, I don't feel bad or rotten anymore. It's the usual air.

Finn looked up slowly and stood up to the people he cared about, okay, nothing. There's no way I noticed that across the room, and the guy adores Farnayne.

Without the dragon's eyes, there was nothing suspicious about it, it was supposed to be a soothing sight. Furnaine delighted with innocence, the smile of a man who looks pure child-loving.

Finn was possessed by a sense of vanity and sadness and watched it inexorably.

(We have to take him)

You can't just leave Farnayne and run away. I swore I'd get him somewhere safe. And that man's mansion, it's definitely not safe.

(Igross, the oath you sought is going to be unexpectedly heavy. If your soul still hears the voice of this world in Yellow Springs, just give me a little help)

Finn meditated in anticipation of the sigh about to come out.
