Ashes and Kingdoms

3-2. A Night at the Mountain Hut

While I was doing so, the area grew darker and darker. The sky turns into thin purple, eventually covered in dark blue, and the stars begin to blink. The shadows of the trees fade into the world, and only the humans illuminated by the pine lights create a lonely shadow, as left behind.

By then, Finn's ears had already heard that sound, which he was completely familiar with.

Crispy...... Cassava, Giggy......

Calm your breath and distance yourself with your heart.

And suddenly the door opened behind me.

"Hey you guys, what the hell are you doing!?

Finn yelled at the captain with a peek in his face.

"Pull in! You brought the Dark Beast!

The captain's eyes became round because he was cursed by the young man, or because he saw the numerous blue light dots that appeared between the trees.

Finn tongued and turned back to the woods, cutting the sky and slashing and throwing away the chain-like thing that struck him.

The moment, the darkness roared. A scream audible to my ears and a tremor that doubles to it echoes in my belly. It was as if the forest, turned into a huge black mass, had plunged hard.

"Captain, what's going on?"

A soldier, upset by terror, screams from inside the cabin. The sound of a soldier looking out the door gap, taking a breath and falling back.

(Yes, keep the door shut and pull me in)

Finn was facing his previous enemy as he listened to them on his back. The cabin is surrounded by blue light points. Where the light of the pine lights does not reach, the sphere of soft light created by Lena floats, but it is also best not to lean the beast against it, with no power until it is driven back.

A giant beast strikes over the shadows of a black mountain cutting through the starry sky. Finn quickly stepped forward and dived under it, flying away with his belly cracked. I never frosted on my sword, but still the chill conveys my arms and trembles.

(These guys are just like the beasts on the flat ground)

Endless deep hatred, cold and frozen anger. Avoid the sickle of a serpent advancing, slashing it off with one blow. Resentment rose into a black mist, blue glowing eyes glaring at Finn before disappearing.

Even if it is protected by the power of Lena, the mood twitches and depresses. The shadow of despair spreads, driven by the urge to cry down on the spot.

Finn looked next door and when he noticed Mac was blue, he soaked himself in between the attacks and put his shoulders in contact with a ton. That alone relieves Mac, as he has regained his trust and hope.

Finn also thought about Valt fighting alone in the back. The eyes of consciousness look down at the whole thing from the top of the cabin and capture his appearance. Fewer enemies than the table, but it seems painful to deal with them alone.

(It's okay, we have a Lena on)

At the same time it calls, it divides the flow from the Fountain of Light. The ground around Valt glistened, and I could see it bringing strength to him.

(well, if this way)

When Finn noticed unexpectedly, he held the sword pattern with both hands as he prayed. And stick it deep into the ground at your feet. Through himself, I felt the running of light all at once.

The white glow spreads instantly and covers the perimeter of the cabin with glitter. The darkness screams and escapes every day.

"... Wow, Brother Finn"

Mac gets an exclamation. Finn turned back to me and stood up with his eyes closed. The sword remains pierced to the ground and continues to produce light like a source of fountains.

I couldn't believe what I had done myself, and Finn shook his head flashly.

Valt came from his back with a slight strain on one leg and laughed.

"Thank you, Dragon Hou. I would have liked to have done it sooner if I could."

There are also red and black muscles running on the back of the hand where I held my leg. As Finn frowned, Valt lowered his hips to the ground and extended his legs.

"Don't worry, it's the usual guy. It doesn't hurt that much right now, and I don't know what to do about it. How's that?

"This is the only place I am."

Mac rolls up his sleeve and shows a mole on his arm. Finn shut up and spread his hands. Valt sighs fed up.

"What is it, intact? I didn't know you were going to lose to little ones and youngsters, so I turned the grill."

"I can't help it, my uncle was alone"

Mac consoled, but uncle, it would be a small payback for calling the little one. Finn smiled and Valt bent his mouth to the letter to.

and the cabin door opened slightly.

"Oops."

In a hurry Finn closes it. Someone pinched my finger screamed.

"Sorry, but don't open it until morning. I drove him back for a second, but I don't know when he'll attack me again."

The twinkle of dissatisfaction and anxiety leaks blurry inside the cabin. The fins looked at each other and laughed bitterly. If they see this light, they'll know they're not just refugees.

"I wish I could stay here all night."

Finn said, and Valt nodded and looked around. The blue light points are much less numerous and retreating to the back of the woods.

"Damn, it's a plague god. They must have come all the way to the back of the mountain because these people either pissed these guys off at the foot or something. I don't see why we shouldn't protect him."

"I don't have a choice. If a legion soldier dies in the mountains, Dilgius may decide to do a massive mountain hunt by bandits or Sarda tribes"

Finn answered and flaunted his shoulder. That's why they also keep only food to take away from the legion soldiers. If you think in common sense, you want to refrain from southward march and avoid loss of force, but at any rate the commander is that Dilgius.

Man, Mac sighed.

"I wish at least the Commander of the Eighth Legion had been a decent head. I was wondering if my brother could take my place."

"Don't be impotent."

Finn laughed bitterly, while the woods made a scene. The three of them turn around a little bit and get fit. At that moment, a black shadow jumped over his head.

"Shit!

Valt curses and stands up and looks up at the roof as he lets go. A beast with huge bird-like, but hook-clawed limbs strips away the reed covering the roof with tremendous momentum.

"Damn, there's a scaffold somewhere... hey, fuck you! Mac, come on!

Valt and Mac put up their swords and jump inside the cabin. We're coming from up there, avoid it in the corner, yelling at you. Finn looked over his head and pulled out his spare dagger, seeing the sword with a stab on the ground. In the meantime, yet another, Dark Beast, attaches itself to the roof.

"Lena!"

At the same time as I called it, huge wings flapped and the wind hit the ground. Pushed by the power of the emergent Tenryu, the beast attached to the hut raises the cries of agony. The darkness around you thickens as you echo, and the beast that gains power adds even more momentum to the destruction.

Finn grabbed at the hand of the offered dragon and rose high, directly above the beast trying to jump now from the empty hole in the roof, releasing his hand.

Aim. Hit him directly in the back again, and the dagger enters the pattern. Before the beast's body became dust, Finn pulled out his dagger and jumped at the other one. It looked like a hook claw swung up to defend him could capture Finn's wrist - instantly, the roof fell out.

While falling with massive reeds and straw debris, Finn was forced to grab the wings of the beast and stick out his dagger. At the same time I can feel the response, I can get it all together and slap it on the floor. Finn groaned unexpectedly, but his voice was extinguished by the scream of the beast.

When the beast became dust and nothing fell from the top, fearful Macs and legion soldiers peered into Finn.

"Brother, are you okay?

"... somehow"

Finn laughed weakly and woke himself up slowly. My lumpy bumped back hurts. Looking up at the hole in the ceiling, I saw the starry sky.

"Apparently, they gave up on me."

Ugh, breathe. and the golden full moon surrounded by white clouds from the edge of the hole made a slight face, Finn rounded his eyes. It's supposed to be a new moon tonight.

A few legion soldiers who happened to be looking up with Finn opened their mouths pompously. The full moon pulls in hastily, and the starry sky returns. Finn swept away.

Thank you, Lena.

I didn't do anything. Finn did it all.

But now you're worried about me.

I call you with a dull laugh. It occurred to me that the white dragon sat tight on a broken roof and stared at the hole worryingly. I could see Lena leaning her little neck in embarrassment, and Finn stood up in momentum forgetting her back pain too. Valt looked like he was nagging on his own again.

"We're safe tonight, so please rest inside."

Finn walked out in a good mood, returning to his usual tone because the tension had dissolved.

"I'll take care of the watch. Just in case, don't open the door until morning."

"Hehe, take your time"

Valt waves sissy and Mac salutes his bitter laughter as well. Finn slipped out with the door open to a minimum as he repaired his serious face.

Legion soldiers left inside anxiously raised their feathers with bass on the roof, pouring their frigid eyes on Valt and Mac.

"What the hell happened out there...?

Don't ask, but crush in a tone that the captain doesn't seem to want to think about. Valt clasped his shoulders.

"I won't pry. Here it is. If I found out, I'd hate the world."

When night dawned, Nellis came to the cabin.

"Brother, were you okay? I heard you were attacked by the Dark Beast, and what, I lost it worrying"

On the back of the hatred, the carry-on cage even contains a special ointment or an accompaniment and bandage just in case. Finn smiled and stroked his sister's head.

"I'm sorry. Mac and Valt are a little hurt, so look at him. And..."

As he said, Finn looked back at the cabin and waited for the legion soldiers to come out after they were ready to leave.

"Will you grant the Goddess Nena blessings to the corner lights they have? I don't know if I can get down the mountain by the end of the day, and if I get my eyes on it for the first time, I could be attacked again."

We can't just send them to the barracks. It would be a wish even for them. Nellis nodded, OK, and walked towards the Macs.

The captain came instead and said with a complicated face.

"Is there even such a girl?"

"So I told you you were a refugee"

"Oh. But..."

The captain said, scratching his head for a moment, then sighed. Look around and make sure you don't see the blue light dots you saw last night, as well as the Lord of the Full Moon, who doesn't know what to do. Then he, reluctantly, bowed his head slightly.

"I was saved last night. Honestly, I think it was a dream."

"Then you should decide to dream about it. When the Dark Beast shows up, he turns back. If you report anything, Dilgius will strangle you."

"It's the same thing when you say you've been robbed by bandits."

Finn raised his eyebrows as the captain roared in tannic. Apparently, Dilgius' bad reviews have spread to the Karsum barracks as early as possible.

"Then you say the road was crumbling. When someone finally decides to slip off and says they've dropped their bags of what was helped, it's a pretext for turning back"

"I don't want to have you under my command."

The captain smiled with only a few faces, and Finn blurted and turned away. The broken shed on the roof is painful in the morning sun. Finn turned to the captain when he came to the truth.

"It's about not entering the mountains during the winter months. The night is long and the power of darkness increases. You - us too - are buying the grudges of the Dark Families on the flat ground. In the mountains, the Darkness and the Sarda seem to have managed to reconcile, but we are not. If they follow me from the lower realm, I won't survive a decent fight in this mountain. Screw out any reason why the road broke down, the bridge was being flushed, or there was already snow."

"For that matter, were you attacking legion soldiers?

As the captain frowned and looked to explore, Finn flaunted his shoulders and deceived him.

"It's not such a noble reason. We just need food, too. However, as a man of the original flatlands, I don't feel good about his companions climbing mountains to the dark clouds dying."

"... well. Well, let's do that."

Nodding, the captain turns his foot to his men. So I noticed and asked.

"What's your name?

"You shouldn't know. Me and the ex-combatants over there are buying Dilgius' grudges. There are too many people to resent, and I hope you've already forgotten about us, but you don't have much hope."

The captain also gave a look of understanding to Finn, who smiled bitterly. When he returned to his men, he thanked Nellis, making sure they were all ready and aligned, he turned to them in large measure.

"Salute the Dragon Marquis of Deia!

Together with the decree, ten or so legions salute each other on their heels. The captain laughed and said as Finn closed his eyes.

"If you want to hide who you are, you should take a little interest in people's rumors. These days, Winnean soldiers and peasants hear the story of the dragon marquis of Daia, who is still young. There, all that flashy rumbling and intact is that I can imagine it even if I don't like it. Those full moon-like eyes, too. I'll see you when I get a chance, Lord Dragon Hou."

Lifting one hand gently to bid farewell, he led his men back down the street. Regular footsteps zazzle away and get smaller.

Eventually, when it was completely deafening, Finn leaned against a nearby tree, indulging in the likelihood of entering the scene. Valt in a swallowing tone,

"I'm getting great, hey, Master Phineas!

Making fun of things like that, Mac is a Mac and seriously encourages me.

"I knew Brother Finn was amazing, he looks great!!

Finn was no longer speechless, and stood up with his forehead deposited in the bark of a grub. I don't know what's going on, Nellis's words all over the grin may have been closest to the mood.
