At the Northern Fort

Woodbaum the Wood Spirit (1)

"I don't like it."

Mother immediately refused.

I'm not vegan!

"I don't feel uncomfortable when it comes to the tree spirits. It's better than being on Hilg's side, but I can't help but wonder if the other spirits will stay in their territory forever. Go away."

My mother said so softly and tried to return to her residence.

"No, please. I can't walk anymore. I don't know how to move."

"I don't know. If you're an adult spirit, do something for yourself."

My mother walked out with her back to Woodbaum without an island to attach. It's a motherly response, but I think Woodbaum is pathetic being abandoned and letting his eyes roam. Considering he's nested at fifty, he's certainly a splendid adult male spirit nearly two hundred years old already, but he can't even leave him like this.

"Mother, I feel sorry for him."

I went around in front of my mother when I ran tattooed and complained.

"Even adults have a hard time"

I have a fever, which doesn't sound like it, but my body seems tired. Even though I've only caught a cold or so, I was human in my last life, and I can understand how hard it is to be sick.

And mindfulness when you're sick.

You're anxious to be alone when you're sick. It may be a feeling my mother doesn't quite understand.

"Mother..."

Kun, and I squeal my nose and look up at my mother.

My mother kept her mouth shut and thought for a few seconds, but eventually she sighed small like she was in trouble.

"I have no choice. It's rounded."

As we turned back to Woodbaum, he opened his mouth with a snack.

"Can I stay here?

"Let me forgive you. But isn't that incompatible with snow? With winter coming, this mountain will be a tough place for trees."

"Sure, trees can't live if they're too cold"

To Woodbaum, who dropped his shoulder, I made one suggestion.

"Hey, then you should come north."

Down at the foot, the cold will be a little better than here, but the soil and water are as beautiful as here, and I thought it would be a pleasant environment for Woodbaum.

I don't know if I can let Woodbaum stay until I ask the Shigeye Knight or Branch Leader, but let's just take him.

"Fort? Where there are human soldiers?

Woodbaum said anxiously.

"That's right. They're all good people, so they'll be nice to Woodbalm, too.... Oh, but, you know, we all get trees, though. Because you need a speck, and if you don't, people will die..."

I told him I was afraid, but Woodbaum never got angry.

"I know, I'm fine. I think it would be good for people if they didn't cut it excessively"

With that said, he crouches down and meets me in the eye.

"It's unusual to shelter humans. Do you like humans?

"... yeah, suki. My mother works with the kings of this country."

My mother also let me get involved so that I wouldn't be considered abnormal by myself.

Woodbaum says convinced.

"Oh, that's what happens to kids when their parents are involved with humans."

"Is Woodbalm human?

"I don't hate you. I've been disappointed in some humans, but that's why I'm not going to attack them. If you're gonna take me to the fort, I'm gonna keep you company."

"Yeah. Then I'll follow you. Mother, right?

When I looked back and asked, my mother nodded. And I say to Woodbaum.

"Woodbaum, don't bother the friggin 'kid."

"Yeah, thanks, Snowlea"

I think it's everyone in the North Fort that's annoying, but for now we talked between spirits, so I jumped right on his leg trying to move around with Woodbaum.

But I can't get my nails up properly and slip off sloppily.

I just jumped and slipped off one more time and repeatedly asked Woodbaum, who looked strange.

"Stick around..."

"Oh, you know what?"

Lift my body up like you finally realize what I'm trying to do.

"Wow, that's fluffy!

To Woodbaum, who rubs and cheeks on his white fur, my mother said, "Don't touch it too sticky!" He was angry.

"Okay, what are we gonna do?"

"Yeah, please."

I called out to my mother, "I'm coming," and I went for the knight of the ship's eyes. My body turns into a blizzard as I involve Woodbaum.

And in no time, me and Woodbaum were getting to the north fort.

"Outside. Seki Cancer Mushroom..."

As he stretched his neck out of Woodbaum's arms, the ship-eyed knight held a twist in one hand and looked at me with a startled face. Apparently I was in the middle of collecting and cleaning the fallen leaves.

"Oh, mill. Surprised."

From the knight with the eye of the ship, all I could see seemed to be Woodbaum's back. You'd be surprised if all of a sudden a man you don't know showed up in front of you.

I look back at Woodbaum and then look back at me and say.

"What about him? Spirit?"

"Yes, the trees! It's called Woodbalm."

"Woodbaum, right, Baum? Hello, human. You're big."

Woodbaum raised one hand and laughed furiously at the knight in the eye.

"What the fuck?

"Mill's with the new spirits again."

"It's time we got used to it."

Behind the Shigeye knight, there are about ten other knights. They all have big bags of chives, chisels, and fallen leaves, and it's garden cleaning style. There's Tina and Rekka in the back, and they're getting closer to us for something.

I introduced everyone to Woodbaum to explain how I brought him to this fort.

"So, I want to keep Woodbalm here until he's feeling better."

"Please, humans. I want you to stay in the corner of the garden because I won't stand in the way of your work."

When Woodbaum and I asked for it, Mr. Rekka came between us and the Shigeye Knight.

"Deputy Grail, please do it from me, too. You cannot fail the Spirit's request."

"I know. You won't be able to kick out the spirits in need. I have to check with the chief of the sub-division and with His Majesty, but they probably all agree."

With that said, the Shigeye knight sent the other knights to get Mr. Branch Leader. Woodbaum smiles and conveys his gratitude.

"Thank you, humans"

And look at me for a second,

"I guess I should be looking like an animal, too, like Milfilia. It might be easier for humans to accept you."

He said it like he was talking to himself and lowered me to the ground, changing my appearance.

Woodbaum seems to be a stag when it's beast shaped. Just like when I was human, my body isn't huge, but it's not even small.

The body color is also brown and at first glance it is a normal deer, but only the corners are characteristic and made of wood. Deer horn-shaped trees grow from their heads. It also has leaves, which are now red and dyed red.

"I'm good."

I look up and squeal at the stag grinning just like I did when I was human.

It's the first time I've seen someone else's head and thought it was windy.

"Yes, because it's late autumn now. But I'll be scattered soon. Though young leaves grow again in the spring."

"Heh."

It was when Woodbaum and I were having such a conversation. On Woodbaum's back, a red flame popped.

Kugarg is trying to get here because of the moves.
