Moreover, when he finished his research last night, he didn’t feel that utterly drained sensation he’d had the past few days. He merely felt some mental fatigue, similar to sitting through three or four straight hours of advanced math classes.
’It seems that three hours is my current limit for sustainable use under normal conditions.’
Now that he had a baseline, Chen Lin sat up in bed and gave a big stretch, a sense of ease washing over him.
Just as he was preparing to start his work for the day, a detail suddenly occurred to him.
For the past few days, whenever he started his research at night, he would first habitually pull out the previous day’s scratch paper, intending to spend a few minutes reviewing his line of deduction.
Yet every time his gaze landed on the densely packed formulas, he discovered he didn’t need to do that at all.
The lemmas and conclusions he had derived yesterday, the day before, and even three days ago felt as if they were etched into his very mind. He didn’t even need to recall them; he could directly pick up where he left off and seamlessly begin new calculations.
From Chen Lin’s perspective, while using Little Mathematician, the research findings he’d written down over the past few days were no different from the axioms and theorems already established in mathematical history.
They had become part of the objective body of mathematical knowledge.
It was just that, for now, Chen Lin was the only one who knew about it.
’This... This is practically like speaking things into existence!’
Chen Lin was stunned.
’The power of the system is truly terrifying!’
He took a deep breath to calm his racing thoughts, walked over to the desk in the living room, and pulled out the folder he used to store his drafts.
Five full days of work: a total of twenty-five A4 pages, all completely filled with writing.
He carefully went through them one by one, in order.
Chen Lin calculated silently. ’According to my plan, I have two days left. Then the core research for my graduation thesis will be completely finished.’
’It’s time to contact Professor Gu.’
They had agreed earlier that once Chen Lin was settled, he would first take the exams for his required major courses to earn the necessary credits. Then, Professor Gu would personally guide him in writing his graduation thesis.
With this in mind, Chen Lin didn’t hesitate. He pulled out his phone, opened WeChat, and sent Gu Ming a message.
Chen Lin: [Hello, Professor Gu. I’m all settled in and available anytime. When would be a good time to arrange for me to take the exams for those required courses?]
A reply came back quickly.
Gu Ming: [Hahaha, I was just thinking of contacting you! I already finished writing the exams for you two days ago.]
Gu Ming: [We’ll be testing you on five core courses in total: Algebra, Mathematical Analysis, Differential Geometry, Topology, and Manifold. One exam per course, ten major questions per exam. How does that sound?]
Chen Lin looked at the long list of course names on the screen, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
’Geez. With a lineup like that, any student who’d *actually* transferred from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature would probably pass out on the spot just from seeing the course titles.’
’For me, though, it just meant spending a bit more time writing.’
Chen Lin: [In that case, are you free this afternoon? I can come over so we can talk in person.]
Gu Ming: [Sure! I’ll be in my office all afternoon. How about we meet at two o’clock?]
Chen Lin: [Okay, no problem. I’ll be at your office at two o’clock sharp.]
