"Haha! These stupid Evil Demons really took the bait... Roar! Loose! Loose!!..."

"Awoo! Awoo!!"

Red-haired Mique let out a roar, excitedly raising his Greatbow as he stood up from the ambush in the grass. Then more than twenty Red-haired Dog Descendants popped up from the brush all at once, let out a threatening wolf-howl, and loosed their sharp arrows together!

"Swish swish swish!..."

The fierce arrow rain howled in, four or five shafts aimed at a single enemy—true equal sharing of death. This prepared volley targeted the heads and faces of the Church Followers; in just an instant, three were shot in the vital neck-and-face, and two more wounded!

"Damn! Damn! These cunning Barbarians! Not a shred of Knightly honor! This is pure trickery and ambush! The most despicable crawling vermin!!..."

Knight Captain Thomas’s heart boiled with rage, his whole body trembling. He wanted nothing more than to charge in, swing his Great Sword, and hack all these Barbarians to death! But the battle-hardened reason in him crushed that impulse. With nearly a hundred paces between them, he immediately turned and pulled back, abandoning the six chamberlains caught in the ambush, and ran toward the village two Li to the rear!

"Swish swish swish!"

"That iron-plated man ran!"

"What do we do, chase him?!"

"Kill these six half-iron-plated ones first! Eat them before we think about anything else!"

The Canine Descendants ambush squad kept up their Archery while tossing out short, sharp comments. Very soon, the two wounded Church Followers were also shot through the neck, collapsing to the ground with screams.

"Holy Mother! Please... save us... ugh!"

Once the enemy was shot in a vital spot, the Canine Warriors who rushed up showed no mercy at all; they whipped out their Battle Axes and chopped down on the chamberlains’ necks. One by one, the heads of the dead who could not close their eyes rolled across the ground. Over by the village, a large pack of Evil Demon Soldiers had already surged out to pick up Knight Captain Thomas. Meanwhile the Canine Descendants raced against time, stripping the Breastplates off the dead chamberlains and snatching up the useful Evil Demon "Long-handled Axes."

"Haha! This Long-handled Axe is mine!"

"This Armor’s mine! Mine!..."

"Damn Barbarians! Wicked Barbarians! Always chopping off heads... No, I, Estelle, will not die here!..."

The stench of blood washed over them; in barely half a Quarter of ambush, five chamberlains had lost their heads, staining the grass crimson. Among all those trying to pursue, only one Church chamberlain was left—shield raised high: Estelle. He strained to hold up his Shield, facing the ambushing Barbarians, feet working in quick retreat.

These armed chamberlains of the Church Knight Order had all undergone long military training. They knew they must never show their backs to Light Armor Archers and pursuers. But when seven or eight Canine Descendants charged together, their Bronze Spears in hand, and even hacked with quick, wild swings of Knight’s Swords...

"Almighty! Please receive my devout Spirit and lead it to holy Heaven!!..."

Surrounded by seven or eight vicious Barbarians, Estelle’s face finally showed despair. He turned his head, looked in hopelessness at the Holy War Veterans hastening up a hundred paces behind to support him. That hundred paces of distance between him and Knight Captain Thomas—that was life and death!

"For the Lord I sacrifice! Die, Demon! Barbarian!"

Estelle suddenly bellowed, heaving his Iron Shield with all his strength, hurling it at two nearby Barbarian warriors! Then he gripped his Longsword with both hands, lunged forward in a mad rush, and followed with a sweeping slash!

"Crack!"

"Ugh!!..."

A Red-haired Dog Descendant screamed—hit in the vital chest by this elite chamberlain’s desperate counterattack. Blood gushed out at once, and the Warrior returned to the earth. Yet the other Red-haired Dog Descendants, seeing death so close at hand, felt not the slightest fear. They shouted excitedly, thrusting out their sharp golden spears, driving them into the exposed vital neck of the chamberlain!

"Stab him to death! Stab him to death!"

"Squelch!"

"Ugh! Holy Mother..."

The spearhead punched through his neck, and Estelle lost all strength in an instant. His Longsword dropped from his hands, snatched up at once by a Barbarian. Then he fell to his knees, and the spear was suddenly yanked free; bright red blood spurted like a spring. Right after that, before dozens of Holy War Veterans who had chased up and were only fifty or sixty paces away, Red-haired Mique roared excitedly again, personally swung down a Knight’s Longsword, and hacked off Estelle’s head!

"Evil Demon! The head’s off!"

"Haha! It’s off, it’s off!"

"A big troop of Evil Demons is closing in! No time to strip this Evil Demon’s armor..."

"Forget it! Forget it! Grab his head and run! Into the Mountain Forest to the south!..."

More than thirty Canine Descendants shouted and yelped, picking up six Longswords and carrying off five sets of Breastplate. Then they clutched eight severed heads and, just as when they came, fled swiftly away again. When Knight Captain Thomas, eyes bloodshot, reached the short, ferocious battlefield, all he saw were six headless corpses—and one dead Red-haired Barbarian!

"Almighty! These Barbarians, these Barbarians cruel as Demons! Are they really from Cipangu Island? Barbarians this monstrously vicious—just how many more are there on that Great Island of Cipangu?!..."

Having witnessed such an ambush slaughter with his own eyes, Priest Ramon’s eyes went blood-red; he knelt before the six headless bodies of the chamberlains, barely able to speak. Having seen the fighting power of these Cipangu Natives, he could no longer bring himself to voice that military adventure proposal of a direct strike into the heart of Cipangu!
