"Dong dong dong! Di di di!..."

The warning sounds rang through the stronghold of the Castilian Expeditionary Army. In the distant firelight, you could vaguely see swaying silhouettes. The wind was full of the smell of blood, and another stench beyond words. Not far away, the screams of the colonial strong men suddenly burst out, then just as quickly cut off. At this moment, every Samurai in the surprise attack from the Kingdom held the mindset of a wild beast: once they met the Evil Demons, it would be a fight to the death!

"Tch! These Evil Demons’ Tribespeople sure can run... Hm? Warning conch horns? Damn Evil Demons! They’re quick to react!"

Red-haired Mique lifted his head and glanced up twice, spat a "tch," then pulled the Bronze Spear he had run through the colonial strong man Thomas out of the man’s back. That thrust had been very accurate, like stabbing a West Wild Boar—precisely piercing the heart.

The moment he yanked it out, red blood burst forth like a spring, rushing and gurgling. And that stretching trail of red not only soaked into the soft mud, it also snaked into the farmland, watering the wheat field where many young wheat shoots were sprouting.

"Huh? What are these Evil Demons planting? How come I’ve never seen this?"

In the dim moonlight, Red-haired Mique raised his torch and stared curiously. The commonly seen Cassava, corn, and tobacco of the Taino farmlands had all vanished. What the Evil Demons sowed were several kinds of thin stalks, two kinds of plump round vegetables, and even some soft vines like pumpkins, strung up on frames?

"Ugh! That smell... is it a heap of manure?..."

Following the stench on the wind, he looked over: right next to the cleared farmland there were piles of reeking livestock dung. A little farther off stood fenced wooden pens, and inside, panicked bellowing cattle and sheep. As for the timid Chickens, they were all hiding behind the Hay piles, not daring to make a sound.

"Moo! Moo!"

"Baa! Baa!..."

"Baa?! What the hell? What in the hell is making that sound?!"

Hearing the strange bleating of sheep for the first time, Red-haired Mique was startled, leaping two feet on the spot like a wary lynx on the Wilderness. Then he swung his torch to look; he could vaguely make out some round, four-legged things, letting out that "weird and savage" "baa." But before he could get a good look, he heard his confidants shouting as they ran up!

"Boss! Boss! Those Taino population, they were all crammed into the sheds in groups, like penned-up turkeys... and the doors were locked!"

"Right! Those big wooden houses only had some cowardly Evil Demons living in them. They don’t seem to be warriors at all, just Evil Demon Tribespeople. Easy to cut down—two chops and they’re dead! In some houses, there were Taino women... We hacked down all the Evil Demons, and with them the unborn offspring of the Evil Demons! As for the women who weren’t pregnant and could still run, we saved them on the way..."

"Chief Divine bless us! We chopped open the shed doors! In sheds the size of a palm, each one was stuffed with four palms of people, all Taino strong men! But quite a few of them were terribly weak, and some seemed sick—we didn’t dare touch them..."

"Boss, what do we do next? The Evil Demons over there seem to have sounded the alarm; their reinforcements will definitely be coming soon! Do we burn these wooden houses or not?..."

Hearing these questions, Red-haired Mique no longer spared a thought for those "four-legged round things with the weird cries." He sprinted off, answering with action as he ran—he hurled his torch, directly setting the nearest colonists’ wooden house ablaze.

"Chief Divine bear witness! Burn them! Of course we burn them! Burn all these messed-up Evil Demon wooden houses, and everything inside that might be crawling with Plague, in one big Fire!"

"Mm, don’t bother with that mess of fields and wooden pens over there! The Owl Chief Priest might want the fresh curiosities inside, so leave those where they are!..."

"Move! Let me see! Let me see those strong men and women you rescued!"

"Right! Split off half the men, go deeper in and start more Fires and Archery! Hook those Evil Demon reinforcements, split them up, keep them from getting here too fast!"

Red-haired Mique didn’t hesitate for a heartbeat, barking out orders at speed. When it came to killing and burning, raising hell and racket, the bunch he led were all seasoned hands. Soon, thirty Red-haired Dog Descendants went deeper to the east, scattering as they yelled, setting Fire to anything that would catch!

"Chief Divine bless us! How many Evil Demon Tribespeople did you cut down?"

"Four palms! Four palms! Four palms!... Uh, and one more palm?..."

"So that makes over sixty?"

"Boss, you’re the smartest, smarter than Black Wolf Big Boss! If you say over sixty, then it’s over sixty!"

Hearing this chaotic answer, Red-haired Mique scratched his head and headed straight for the center of the Castilians’ farm. Along the way, his Personal Soldiers were setting Fires too, putting torches to wooden houses, thatched huts, and Hay piles alike. The corpses of Evil Demon Tribespeople lay bleeding everywhere, more than half of them facedown, speared or shot in the back.

These armed strong men were even weaker than the armed sailors, and with no armor they could only bully the weak Taino Natives. Now that they’d run into the ferocious Red-haired Dog Descendants, the only outcome was to be slaughtered in chaos, with no chance to escape.

"Chief Divine protect us! Hiss! Why are there so many Taino strong men?!..."

When they reached the center of the farm, the Red-haired Mique stared wide-eyed and saw a large crowd of Taino strong men kneeling on the ground, a dark mass he couldn’t see clearly. These Tribespeople were obviously terrified, their whole bodies trembling as if they’d lost all Bone. The dozen or so Red-haired Dog Descendants on either side, wary of the Plague, didn’t get close. They just shouted loudly, barking orders in Taino.

"You damned fools! Throw away the Evil Demon Crosses on your necks! Throw them away!..."

"Idiots! Hurry and throw them! Otherwise when the Samurai who’ve gone blood-mad kill their way over here, they’ll definitely hack all of you down in one go! They’re all crazed wild bulls, they don’t have our wolf-like patience!..."

"Fools! Use the Daggers we tossed to you and chop through the rope-chains on your feet! Cut them yourselves!"

"Quick! Those who’ve had sores, who caught the great sickness and recovered... yes! The ones with pockmarks on their faces! Step out and go to the west, that way! Hurry! Run west, there’s a way to live in the west!!..."

The Red-haired Dog Descendants shouted at the top of their lungs, occasionally waving their War Spears to drive these "stupid" Taino strong men into motion. Perhaps it was the comfort of hearing familiar Taino speech, or the threat of Long Spears so close at hand, but the hundred or so Taino strong men were all sobbing and wailing as they threw away the Cross Amulets the Priests had given them.

Among these strong men, two pockmarked Taino Natives were quite distinctive. They took the initiative to pick up the Daggers on the ground; they seemed to have some prestige and shouted loudly, repeating to the companions beside them.

"Ancestor protect us! It’s the Chief Divine Tribe from the west, the ones who brought the Prophecy! They’ve come to save us! To save us from the Evil Demons!..."

"Quick! Pick up the Daggers and cut through the rope-chains on everyone’s feet! Listen to what they said—run with them, run west!..."

The Red-haired Mique narrowed his eyes with interest, watching these two influential Taino captives. From the responses of the others, two names kept being repeated: Lizard and Luo Luo.

Lizard was a Hunter from the Earth Department, best at catching lizards. Luo Luo was the Chieftain’s son from the West Bay Tribe, very skilled at diving for sea conch. They both had the best physical strength; only thus had they endured their way out of the heaps of Plague dead, left with nothing but a face full of pockmarks. As they shouted, a dozen or so other pockmarked Natives also picked up Daggers and knives.

"Cut the rope-chains! Quick, flee west!"

In no time, the slave rope-chains on the feet of about a hundred Natives were all hacked through at high speed. The long-awaited escape was like a beam of light that suddenly pierced the endless nightmare darkness, appearing right before their eyes, dazzlingly bright! Very soon, the first Taino strong man was fleeing west, then the tenth, the twentieth!

"Chief Divine protect us! There are more than eighty pockmarked Natives! Now, we finally have enough hands to take care of Huitu and the Samurai! But what about the remaining thirty-odd?..."

In that instant, the firelight in the farm towered into the sky, burning the scenes of the human world and Hell together before their eyes. Sixty-six Taino strong men and twenty-one Taino women stumbled and lurched as they fled out of the terrifying lair of the Evil Demons, rushing toward the western hope of survival.

This horrifying Evil Land had already destroyed more than four Great Tribes of the Taino Tribe and seven or eight smaller Taino tribes, had captured four thousand Taino captives! Over two thousand dead strong male captives, more than a thousand dead Tribes’ women, four thousand Taino corpses burned to ash, their remains piled into hills, and only these eighty-seven survived!

To these surviving Taino People, the Castilian Expeditionary Army’s stronghold was a true demonic nest! They had been chopped to death, stabbed to death, beaten to death, hung to death, starved to death, worked to death, torn apart by dogs... and even more had fallen powerless from sickness and then been stacked in heaps, burned alive by Fire!

They had originally lost all hope of living, yet an unimaginable hope suddenly appeared, like a miracle bestowed by the Chief Divine of the Western lands! At this moment, they ran with faces flooded in tears, feet rubbed raw, terrified of being seized again by the Evil Demons!

"Run! Run west!!"

The raging Fire of the farm burned fiercely, cutting east from west, like the boundary between life and death. The vast majority of Taino strong men threw in all their strength, terrified of not fleeing fast enough. Only Lizard and Luo Luo, leading that dozen or so strong men, still struggled to support those gravely ill Brothers of the same clan, trying to take them out as well...

"Idiots! Leave them! The Evil Demons’ reinforcements have killed their way here! At most, at most, we can fight them for another two quarters of an hour! You have to flee for your lives as fast as you can!..."

"Still not leaving them? Damn fools!!"

The Red-haired Mique frowned tightly, glaring at Lizard and Luo Luo as they supported the sick, and cursed loudly. After shouting twice, he directly took off his Greatbow, raised it, and loosed two arrows, killing the sick men they were holding! Then, with a cold face, he stared at these two disbelieving, tear-filled, stubborn yet soft-hearted Taino Chiefs, and roared at them.

"You two idiots, take everyone who can run! Hurry and follow our guides, flee west and then south! Don’t get lost! Otherwise no one will save you!..."

"Get moving! You lot have no Force, you run slow—you have to escape as fast as possible, get as far away as you can!"

"Our Samurai and warriors still have to cover your retreat and keep killing the Evil Demons’ reinforcements for another two quarters! Get moving already!!..."
