Chapter 565 - 595: Always Dreaming of Her
Qin Jiao was about to head to the Computer Science building to wait for Shen Yi when someone suddenly called out to her. She turned and saw it was Xu Zhengyang.
Xu Zhengyang was already a graduate student at the university, and if all went according to plan, he would stay on as a faculty member.
But while he was staying, Qin Jiao was about to graduate.
The love he held in the bottom of his heart had never been confessed. Now that he’d heard Qin Jiao and Shen Yi had already registered their marriage, it seemed there was even less reason to ever say it.
The gentle, elegant man standing in the sunlight smiled faintly and said, "Qin Jiao, come back and visit the school when you have time."
Qin Jiao smiled and nodded. "Okay."
"Well, I need to find my professor. I’ll get going."
"Goodbye."
The two brushed past each other, the bright sunlight glinting between them.
For both of them, this was an infinitely better outcome than the ending set for them in that book.
At least Xu Zhengyang’s life wasn’t ruined by unrequited love, and Qin Jiao didn’t have to carry the burden of his deep affection, which she couldn’t return.
The budding feelings never blossomed, but they also never soured into mutual resentment. That was better than anything.
Qin Jiao looked up and saw Shen Yi emerging from the academic building, and a smile touched her lips.
’Their endings would all be so much better than what was written in that book.’
Of course, that wasn’t the whole story.
Also approaching graduation was Shen Feng.
Back then, because of the paint factory incident, Shen Zhengfeng and Li Xiaomei had agreed to let Lin Nian marry Shen Feng. However, for one, Lin Nian’s background was considered unpresentable and offered them no advantages.
For another, the fiasco on their wedding day had been a great source of embarrassment for the Shen Family.
As a result, Lin Nian and Shen Feng had been living in Rose District for the past few years and had never moved into the Shen Family’s main house. Of course, neither of them particularly wanted to live there anyway.
For Shen Feng, the room he occupied in the Shen Family home would always be Shen Yi’s. Every day he spent living there was a suffocating blow to his pride.
It wasn’t that he particularly liked Lin Nian. If he had, he wouldn’t have gone to take his college entrance exams so calmly on the day she had a miscarriage.
But Lin Nian was his excuse to avoid the Shen Family. Living in Rose District even gave him the chance to run into Qin Jiao, which was another reason he was willing to live there.
He knew it was impossible, but the secret affection he harbored for Qin Jiao, fueled by his recurring dreams, tormented him and made him even more morose.
He didn’t even dare to sleep or dream anymore. The dreams were too wonderful, and waking up to the mess his life had become only made him more and more agitated.
Lin Nian was in a foul mood today as well, because of her confrontation with Qin Jiao.
’Yes, this was the third child she had conceived for Shen Feng’s sake, but what could she do? Her life wasn’t easy either! She had suffered so much and endured so many hardships, and all because she wasn’t the main character, right?’
But when she looked over at Shen Feng, who was sitting beside her on the sofa watching the news, Lin Nian’s mood improved slightly.
She hugged his arm and said in a soft, sweet voice, "Ah Feng, would you prefer a boy or a girl?"
Shen Feng was watching TV, but his mind was on Qin Jiao, whom he had just run into in the neighborhood. "A daughter, I guess," he said subconsciously. "A daughter could be like..."
He stopped abruptly. Seeing the expectant look on Lin Nian’s face, he quickly changed his tune. "A daughter as well-behaved and sensible as you would be nice."
Lin Nian beamed, hugging his arm. "But I’m hoping for a son, one who’s as smart as you."
’Most importantly, only a son could inherit the Shen Family’s fortune.’
