Chapter 552 - 582: Getting the Marriage Certificate

Like many tycoons who came later, they rode the first wave of opportunity.

But getting started wasn’t so easy. The field wouldn’t truly take off for several more years. However, Qin Jiao and Shen Yi were both young and unafraid of failure, so if they could get an early start, they weren’t going to wait.

After her class ended, Qin Jiao said goodbye to Han Juan and the others. As soon as she walked out of the academic building, she saw Shen Yi standing there.

In the past two years, Shen Yi had somehow managed to grow even taller. ’Still growing after twenty... How infuriating is that!’

"Shen Yi, did you get taller again?"

"No, of course not," Shen Yi said, subconsciously bending his knees slightly as Qin Jiao approached him. He smiled. "Jiao Jiao, let’s get going. We don’t want the Civil Affairs Bureau to close on us."

They had finally reached the legal age for marriage and could get their certificate at last. It also happened to coincide with Du Liya and Beidou returning to the country with Little Gu Duo, so the whole big family was together in a lively celebration. It was wonderful.

Since Qin Jiao had a class, Shen Yi had waited for her to finish before they went to get their marriage certificate together.

Shen Yi was carrying a backpack. Qin Jiao assumed it held their household registration booklets and other documents, but to her surprise, he pulled out a huge bag of candy.

"Jiao Jiao, aren’t those your classmates behind you? Go on, share some wedding candy with everyone."

"Can’t you be a little more low-key?"

Shen Yi shook his head with mock seriousness. "I can’t. Do you know how long I’ve waited for this? My probationary period is finally over, and I’m being made a permanent employee! What a joyous occasion! As the common folk say, we’re just plain happy today!"

Qin Jiao couldn’t win a war of words with him, so she didn’t say anything more. Turning around, she saw Han Juan and the others coming out and brought the wedding candy over to them.

Han Juan’s eyes lit up. "Ooh, is a wedding in the cards?"

Qin Jiao smiled. "Mhm, soon. Have some candy, share in the good fortune. I have to go, Han Juan, could you help me pass these out to our classmates?"

"You bet! I’d love to!" Han Juan took the large bag of wedding candy and watched as Qin Jiao and Shen Yi left together.

Parking was difficult nearby, so their car was parked outside the school’s West Gate. They had to walk to it.

Watching their retreating figures, a girl took a piece of candy from Han Juan and said with a touch of envy, "I’m so jealous of Qin Jiao. Her boyfriend is handsome and rich. I heard the professors in the computer science department want him to stay for his master’s degree, but he said he has to think about it because he has two companies at home to manage."

The small clothing factory, Jiu Yi, had now grown into a major corporation. Its main business was still apparel, but it had expanded to produce peripheral products like hats, shoes, and backpacks.

On top of that, Shen Yi had also started an electronics company.

Sucking on a sweet piece of candy, Han Juan said, "Shen Yi is outstanding, but don’t sell Qin Jiao short. A famous director came and asked her to be an actress, but she turned it down, saying she was too busy. And what about the set of corporate legal regulations she designed herself? I heard a company owner offered her a huge sum of money to come and create a custom set of rules tailored to his company."

Another guy chimed in, "Yeah, a bunch of us guys have had a crush on Qin Jiao since the first day of freshman year. We still do!"

Thinking of his own pitiful, unrequited love, the guy grabbed another handful of candy from Han Juan. "I’m going to share some of this with my other bros in the same boat!"

’The fact that our goddess is getting married is a tragedy that must be shared. Misery loves company!’

Coincidentally, as the guy was running back to his dorm, he nearly collided with someone. It was Xu Zhengyang, who was currently a graduate student at the university.

The guy quickly apologized, "Senior, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry."
