Chapter 545 - 575: Refusing to Walk the Straight and Narrow
The appearance of this man brought the already strained wedding to a complete and utter halt.
As the man rushed toward the bride and groom, the scene descended into chaos. From within the crowd, Qin Jiao could see the incredibly ugly expressions on the newlyweds’ faces.
Shen Feng shot Lin Nian a vicious glare, yanked his hand away from hers, and walked off.
Lin Nian, crying, tried to grab him, but the bearded man caught her. Others came over to help hold her back.
Amid the noisy crowd, Lin Nian’s sobs could be faintly heard.
Qin Jiao picked up her bag and said to Shen Yi, "Let’s go."
"Mm."
There was no reason to stay any longer. The fallout from this would probably be enough to make Li Xiaomei and Shen Zhengfeng tear their hair out.
Qin Jiao and Shen Yi got into their car. As it slowly pulled away, Qin Jiao said, "I was wondering about something before. How did Lin Nian get out of prison early and make her way from her hometown to North City? She must have had nothing when she was first released, and her family probably cut ties with her long ago."
Shen Yi said, "Thinking about it now, it must have something to do with the man who just showed up."
Lin Nian simply refused to walk the straight and narrow. She was always looking for some crooked path, and in the end, it only led her further and further astray.
But this was all her own choice.
So, she had only herself to blame for today’s outcome. There was nothing to pity.
Since it was still early, Qin Jiao and Shen Yi decided to visit the clothing factory. They had recently installed a new production line and started making shoes. While both Qin Jiao and Shen Yi remembered many futuristic shoe designs, their current focus was on creating comfortable, simple, and elegant styles.
They didn’t need to be complex, but they had to be comfortable to wear. On top of that, the shoes had to be durable.
They had already manufactured a first batch of sample shoes and distributed them for people to try out. Chen Sheng received two pairs. When he put them on, he found the soles were neither too soft nor too hard—they were exceptionally comfortable.
He said, "Director, these shoes are too well-made! I feel like they could last eight or ten years without breaking. If the shoes don’t wear out, people won’t think about buying new ones."
Shen Yi replied, "It doesn’t matter if they buy new shoes or not, as long as they buy *our* shoes."
Chen Sheng was taken aback.
Qin Jiao, standing nearby, smiled and explained, "Our country has a population of nearly a billion people, and North City alone has ten million. Out of those ten million, if even one thousand people buy our shoes and they last forever, those customers become our living advertisements. They’ll make everyone else interested in our shoes too."
If everyone really bought a pair, there would be no need for the shoes to wear out; the market itself was enormous.
Qin Jiao continued, "Besides, this is just one style of sneaker. We’ll be developing other types of shoes as well. When you factor all that in, the market is actually huge."
The purchasing power of the people had always been strong, from ancient times to the present day. So, what they needed to do now was figure out how to resonate with consumers and create products they both needed and loved.
Shen Yi and Qin Jiao exchanged a smile. He said, "We’re trying to build a reputation. And a reputation isn’t something you can build in a day or two. It takes a lot of hard work, but once you succeed, it allows a company to thrive for a long, long time."
Chen Sheng hadn’t realized that Qin Jiao and Shen Yi were thinking so far ahead. He remarked with a sigh, "You two are really something else. You’re still students who haven’t even graduated, yet sometimes you think further ahead than anyone else."
And so, the plan for the shoes was set. Of course, they still needed to handle promotion. But since they were focusing on the quality of the shoes, quality control had to be extremely strict.
If the seams came apart or the glue failed after just a bit of wear, it would be a huge embarrassment.
And just as Qin Jiao and Shen Yi began to expand Jiu Yi’s business, the atmosphere at the Shen Family’s home was absolutely glacial.
