Qin Jiao felt even more certain that something was definitely wrong!
She said to Gu Xu, "Alright, can I take a look at these files? I won’t show them to anyone, and I’ll return them when I’m finished."
"Sure!"
Gu Xu had absolute trust in Qin Jiao’s integrity. Since he had other matters to attend to, he left, leaving her alone in the office.

Just then, the phone on the desk rang shrilly.

The caller was Qin Zhonghui. He normally managed the kitchen, while Sun Lili was in charge of the front of the house.

Qin Jiao said calmly, "Dad, take it easy. Tell me exactly what happened."
"Someone was eating at our restaurant and suddenly collapsed on the floor. They were sent to the hospital, and it’s supposedly food poisoning. Now Xiao Sun has been taken away, and all the customers have cleared out..."
His voice trembled as he spoke.
"Dad, don’t worry. It’s okay. I’m on my way now."
Qin Jiao’s voice remained calm and composed, which helped Qin Zhonghui settle down as well, his initial panic subsiding.
Qin Jiao immediately sent for Li Man. "Come on, I need you to go somewhere with me."
Without a second thought, Li Man nodded, delegated her work, and left with Qin Jiao.
On the way, Qin Jiao explained that they would need to take legal action. It was obvious the other party was trying to extort them.
When it came to restaurants, there were only a few common extortion schemes.
Li Man had a background in law as well. She said, "Xiao Jiao, without concrete evidence, this could drag on. Even if the restaurant is innocent, it will still affect our daily operations."
Either way, the restaurant would suffer a loss.
With her hands on the steering wheel, Qin Jiao said coolly, "We have evidence."
’Li Man’s admiration for her boss—and former junior—grew by the second. No wonder Xu Zhengyang had been so taken with Qin Jiao back in the day. If I were a man, I’d find it impossible not to fall for such a perfect woman!’
The car soon arrived at Jiuyi Tea Restaurant.
Even though it was dinnertime, the restaurant was nearly empty. The waiters and other staff members were all listless. But the moment they saw Qin Jiao, it was as if they had seen a ray of hope—they had found their backbone.
Qin Zhonghui rushed over to meet her, exclaiming, "Xiao Jiao, you’re finally here! Xiao Sun went to the hospital with the police."
"Oh? And how is the person who got food poisoning?"
"We heard he’s awake now. We don’t know any other details."
As the restaurant manager, it was Sun Lili’s duty to step up and take charge in a crisis. Besides, she had family connections, so Qin Jiao wasn’t too worried about her for the time being.
This was precisely why Qin Jiao had put Sun Lili in charge of the restaurant in the first place.
She said, "It’s fine. This isn’t a huge problem, and it will be resolved. I’m giving you all the rest of the day off. Go home and get some rest. Come back tomorrow morning for your regular shifts."
Many of these employees had been personally selected by Qin Jiao, and they trusted her implicitly. If she said it was fine, they believed the problem couldn’t be that serious.
Their anxious hearts were finally put at ease.
After the staff had gone, only Qin Jiao, her father Qin Zhonghui, and Li Man remained in the restaurant.
Qin Jiao asked Qin Zhonghui, "Dad, where was the man sitting today?"
"Over here, in the main dining hall. What are you going to do?"
"I’m getting the evidence. Get a ladder for me."
Then, right before Qin Zhonghui and Li Man’s eyes, Qin Jiao climbed the ladder and removed a small chip from the corner.
