Then, something happened that took Yu Bao completely by surprise: the moment he activated Thick Earth Golden Might, all the Earthquake Beasts froze in unison.

Even the one that had been about to bite him seemed to be flash-frozen, stopping dead in its tracks.

Then, a few of the Earthquake Beasts let out low growls.

To a normal person, the sound would have been unremarkable, but Yu Bao could tell that the Earthquake Beasts were now feeling awe and confusion.

Perched on a distant high ground, Su Zhi and Tuoba Jing exchanged bewildered glances.

After a moment of thought, Yu Bao deactivated Thick Earth Golden Might.

The Earthquake Beasts’ growls instantly turned hostile, and the one closest to Yu Bao opened its gaping, bloody maw.

Just as he was about to be bitten, Yu Bao reactivated Thick Earth Golden Might.

"Clara..."

The Earthquake Beasts grew calm again and closed their mouths.

So, Yu Bao deactivated Thick Earth Golden Might again.

"...Clara!" The Earthquake Beast opened its mouth.

"Clara..." The Earthquake Beast closed its mouth.

"Arf~" Yu Bao wagged his tail excitedly. ’This is actually kind of fun.’

"Master Yu, stop messing around..." From a distance, Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He quickly followed up, "So the answer is Thick Earth Golden Might? As long as you have that Skill activated, the Earthquake Beasts won’t attack?"

"Woof," Yu Bao grumbled, curling his lip.

’When there’s no trouble, he calls me King Bi. When he needs something, it’s ’Master Yu’.’

Still, he did want to give it a try... Maintaining Thick Earth Golden Might, Yu Bao turned his gaze to the Earthquake Beasts before him.

The Earthquake Beasts all stood quietly with their mouths shut, looking quite docile.

"WOOF!"

Yu Bao lifted his left paw and pointed behind them.

’Everyone’s done great, very spirited. Now listen to me, go on home!’

The Earthquake Beasts didn’t react.

Yu Bao: "..."

’Weren’t they supposed to obey me?’

"Woof, woof, wooo!" Yu Bao tried a different tone.

’You! Return trip! Get to work!’

The Earthquake Beasts still didn’t react.

Yu Bao was speechless.

Up above, Su Zhi was desperately trying not to laugh.

Completely forgetting that these beasts had just been trying to eat him, Yu Bao walked up to one of them with a stern expression, extended a paw, and started whacking it, his face screaming with exasperation for their failure to improve.

Yu Bao jumped in fright, spinning around and scrambling several meters away.

’Damn, that nearly scared this dog to death.’

’Wait, did the Earthquake Beast suddenly understand him?’ Yu Bao recalled the last few moments, looked at his own paws, and fell into thought.

"Weren’t you being all brave a second ago? Why’d you get so scared?" Su Zhi’s teasing voice echoed from the Beast Taming Space.

"Woof," Yu Bao shot him an annoyed glare.

’For a Wise One, it’s not called being a coward, it’s called listening to your heart!’

While master and pet bickered, the herd of Earthquake Beasts stomped away with deafening footsteps, gradually disappearing into the distance.

The town’s residents began to emerge from their hiding places, cautiously climbing to high vantage points to watch, their faces filled with the joy of having survived a disaster.

"Unbelievable... the Earthquake Beasts are actually leaving!"

"It must be the work of those two great Beastmasters! Praise be to the great Beastmasters!"
