Chapter 296: The Enemy of My Enemy Is My Friend
"The Yu Family of Earth Geography City?"
Yu An turned around and thought for a moment. "What’s your relationship with the Tian Family?"
Yu Yao was taken aback. "The Tian Family? Miss, are you referring to the Tian Family of Tianhuan City?"
Seeing Yu An nod, Yu Yao hesitated.
The Yu Family and the Tian Family were mortal enemies. She wasn’t sure what Yu An’s relationship with the Tian Family was, but she and her people had no other way out. They could only take a gamble.
"Miss, I am Yu Yao, Young Master of the Yu Family. Our Yu Family and the Tian Family are mortal enemies. The injuries we bear are also courtesy of the Tian Family."
She gave a bitter laugh. "I suppose the Tian Family members didn’t pursue us because they knew about the wolf pack here and didn’t want to dirty their weapons."
’If we hadn’t been seriously injured while gathering herbs, it wouldn’t be up to those Tian Family bastards to decide whether we live or die!’
Yu An fell into thought. Before coming through the passage, she had questioned Tian Shu, making him tell her everything he knew about the Tian Family.
Among the information was the Yu Family of Earth Geography City.
The two families were like heaven and earth. It was said that a long, long time ago, their feud began when the first Family Heads were still alive.
Ever since then, the two families had been in constant conflict, though it was mostly minor friction. Major battles were rare.
Seeing Yu An remain silent, Yu Yao grew nervous. She worried that Yu An might be a foe rather than a friend. It didn’t matter if they died, but if the Family Head didn’t get the life-saving medicine...
"I’ll take them."
A clear, crisp female voice rang out. Yu Yao was stunned for a moment, then her face lit up with joy.
’We’re saved!’
The others also looked at Yu An gratefully. Only the wolf pack was displeased.
’You’ll take them just because you say so? Who do you think you are, the Heaven and Earth Stone?!’
The Wolf King let out an angry roar, and the other wolves took on an attack stance. Yu An pulled back Han Li, who was about to make a move, signaling him not to act rashly.
"I’ll trade you food for them," Yu An offered, trying to negotiate. "How about something you’ve never eaten before?"
The Wolf King ignored her, thinking to itself, ’What food could possibly be tastier than meat?’
Just as the thought arose, its mouth was stuffed with something soft.
It bit down instinctively. Its previously narrowed eyes instantly shot wide open, all its intimidating aura gone.
’What is this? Why... why is it so delicious? It’s a million times better than meat!’
And so, the pack watched their Wolf King chew, and chew, and chew, a look of pure enjoyment on its face.
The wolf pack: "???"
"So," Yu An smiled, "is the bun tasty?"
The Wolf King nodded instinctively. It belatedly realized that all its kingly dignity had vanished into thin air. It tried to salvage the situation by baring its fangs, but it was a little too late.
It thought for a moment and decided to agree to Yu An’s proposal.
’Eating is eating. The food this human gives is much tastier than human flesh. We might as well have something good for a change and improve our diet.’
Seeing it nod and order the pack to gather together, no longer surrounding the Yu Family members, Yu An took out all the buns, steamed bread, flower rolls, roast chickens, roast ducks, roast geese... that she had stockpiled in her space.
With the addition of those Tian Family members, much more of the wasteland in her space had been reclaimed. They had more grain than they could eat, and new warehouses were being built at an accelerated pace.
Whenever Yu An had free time, she would cook some food and place it in the preservation area of her space for convenience when she was busy. The food was still warm when she took it out.
Yu Yao and the others couldn’t believe their eyes. Who would have thought that a pile of buns and steamed bread could "defeat" a wolf pack?
’If we had known, we would have brought more rations on our training expedition!’
That being said, as they smelled the food Yu An brought out, they all felt their stomachs rumbling. They felt that all the exotic delicacies they had ever eaten before couldn’t compare to the buns right in front of them.
Yu An casually handed them a basin of buns. Yu Yao thanked her, picked one up, and took a bite. The slightly scalding meat juice instantly burst out.
She hadn’t eaten all day, and on top of that, the food Yu An made was at a Divine level of cookery. The aroma alone was enough to make her swoon.
It was the same for the other people and the wolves. It wasn’t until they were halfway through their meal that they realized Yu An and Han Li had no bags or packs with them. The food had appeared out of thin air!
The wolf pack: "!!!"
The group of people: "!!!"
Yu Yao suppressed the urge to ask questions. She didn’t say a word, nor did she allow her clan members to ask.
The wolves were a different story. They looked as if they had seen a ghost, and the Wolf King leaped three feet into the air.
’Did we... see a ghost or a god?!’
The corner of Yu An’s mouth twitched. "I conjured it up with a magic trick. Hurry up and eat. When you’re done, lead the way for me."
The Wolf King nodded instinctively. Only after finishing off a roast chicken did it remember: where was it supposed to lead this human?
Seeing its confusion, Yu An kindly explained, "Take me to find the Tian Family members. This is your territory, so you should know where they are, right?"
The Wolf King certainly knew. That group of people was still in its territory. However, they were quite powerful. Since the Yu Family members were available to fill their stomachs, the wolf pack hadn’t bothered with them.
Looking at its happily eating pack members, the Wolf King hesitated for only a moment before agreeing.
After filling their stomachs, Yu Yao thanked Yu An again. They were in a hurry to return home, so she gave Yu An a Jade Pendant.
"I still do not know your esteemed name, Miss. We have urgent matters and must return home. If there is a chance in the future, I, Yu Yao, will definitely repay you generously!"
"This Jade Pendant is proof of my identity. Miss, if you go to Earth Geography City or any other city where the Yu Family has influence in the future, you can command anyone with this pendant."
Yu An waved her hand. "Since it’s your personal identification pendant, I can’t accept it. I only saved you today because of the Tian Family."
Seeing the confused look on Yu Yao’s face, she said only one sentence: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Yu Yao understood. After Yu An repeatedly refused, Yu Yao settled for the next best thing and gave her a Jade Token.
The bearer of this Jade Token holds the status of an Honored Guest Elder of the Yu Family and can also mobilize a portion of the Yu Family’s forces.
This time, Yu An did not refuse. After Yu Yao and her people left, the Wolf King had its pack return home and then led her and Han Li to find the Tian Family members.
Along the way, the Wolf King kept glancing at Han Li. For some reason, whenever it looked at Han Li, it felt an overwhelming urge to submit.

Yu An poked Han Li and whispered, "Hey, the Wolf King keeps looking at you. Do you think it’s figured out that you’re a wolf, too?"

The Upper Realm only had humans and wild beasts, not Beastmen. If it suddenly saw a human turn into a wolf, the Wolf King would probably be scared out of its wits.
"No, no," Yu An quickly shook her head. "If we scare it, I’d probably lose a merit point."
Han Li shrugged and leaned closer to Yu An, and the two walked on, shoulder to shoulder.
The Wolf King walking ahead felt a bit melancholic. It could actually hear the two humans behind it talking, but it didn’t understand them. It only knew that they were being all lovey-dovey.
Actually, it had a mate of its own.
It wondered about the strength of these two humans and whether they could defeat that group of people.
Its mate had been captured by the companions of that same group. Its fate was unknown.
It wanted revenge, but the young wolves of the pack had all been taken, leaving only the old, weak, sick, and disabled. It had to stay alive to protect its pack.
The one silver lining was that it had been injured years ago. That group of people had looked down on it, allowing it to escape capture.
The Wolf King led the way. After they had walked for some distance, Yu An, who was behind it, noticed that something was not quite right with its front leg. It was walking with a limp.
