Chapter 2198 - 2171: Mandala’s Excitement
"Grandpa, Sister Rose, could you not stand at the door chatting? Let’s go inside and sit down, okay? I’m so hungry that I barely have the strength to stand," Mandala couldn’t help but say from the side.
As she spoke, Mandala swayed her body in a playful manner as if she couldn’t really stand still.
Looking at Mandala’s cute and playful demeanor, Jiang Liufeng and Rose couldn’t help but smile. They loved this side of Mandala, giving everyone a sudden sense of happiness as if all troubles vanished into thin air.
"Grandpa, let’s go inside then," Rose said softly, looking at Jiang Liufeng.
"Hmm, let’s go inside."
Jiang Liufeng nodded.
The three of them said nothing more and headed inside the villa.
Rose’s villa was warmly decorated, offering an immediate sense of being at home as one entered.
"Grandpa, you sit here first, I’ll make you some tea."
After signaling Jiang Liufeng and Mandala to sit on the sofa, Rose went to the side to prepare the tea.
Sitting on the sofa, Jiang Liufeng scanned his surroundings with a complex expression on his face, which eventually turned into a soft sigh.
Noticing Jiang Liufeng’s expression and hearing the sigh, Mandala couldn’t help but ask, "Grandpa, what’s wrong? You seem a bit unhappy..."
Hearing Mandala’s question, a faint smile appeared on Jiang Liufeng’s face, "Manman, Grandpa isn’t unhappy, Grandpa is very happy..."
There was a time when Jiang Liufeng always believed that he was near the end, all alone. Though Cangwu had always been by his side, he was just his disciple, not family. Even though in his heart, Jiang Liufeng considered Cangwu like a son, he wasn’t truly family.
Jiang Liufeng always thought he’d grow old, lonely and without companionship. But he never expected that heaven would send him a grandson, and the poison in his body would gradually start to clear. Were it not for this poison being in his system for over twenty years, deeply ingrained into his bones, it would have been cleared long ago.
Finally, he thought he didn’t have long to live, but then things changed so unexpectedly. Anyone would be filled with emotion.
After hearing Jiang Liufeng’s words, Mandala didn’t say anything, just nodded thoughtfully and stayed quietly by his side.
Before long, Rose, who had disappeared earlier, returned to the living room with a tray in her hands, carrying three teacups and a pot of tea.
As soon as Rose appeared, a refreshing and soft aroma filled the air, giving everyone a sense of mental clarity the moment they smelled it, as if all fatigue vanished in an instant, filling them with energy.
"Good tea."
Before Rose could speak, Jiang Liufeng couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration, "Rose, if I guess correctly, this tea is made from the famous Bamboo from the Qingxin Tea Grove, right? Only the bamboo leaves from Qingxin can brew such rich tea aroma. Am I right, Rose?"
"Grandpa, you’re correct."
With a radiant smile, Rose curiously asked, "Grandpa, have you had this tea before?"
"Hmm, back when I was in Beijing, I drank it a few times when visiting Ji Xingyun, but haven’t had it since then."
At this, a hint of melancholy crossed Jiang Liufeng’s face, obviously recalling past memories. Perhaps if he hadn’t gone to Beijing, hadn’t recognized Lu Tianxing’s mother as his foster daughter, and let Ji Xingyun educate, maybe Xue Hongdie wouldn’t have died.
"Grandpa, don’t be sad; the past is already past. I’m sure Aunt Hongdie wouldn’t want to see you like this," Mandala, perceptive and quick-witted, noticed Jiang Liufeng’s change right away and spoke gently.
Although Rose didn’t speak, she looked at Jiang Liufeng with concern, understanding that his biggest regret was being unable to save Lu Tianxing’s mother, forced to watch as she died.
Nothing is more painful in this world than watching your loved ones die right before your eyes and being helpless to save them. Such pain is the most excruciating, capable of breaking a person completely.
"It’s nothing, Manman, Rose, I’m okay."
Gently shaking his head, Jiang Liufeng looked at Rose and said, "Rose, why are you looking at me like that? Didn’t you just say you wanted me to try the tea you made? Why are you still standing there? Or are you reluctant to let Grandpa taste it? Or perhaps you can’t bear to share it?"
Surprised by Jiang Liufeng’s words, Rose was momentarily taken aback but quickly regained her composure and smiled, "Grandpa, you’re joking. How could I think that? I’ll pour you some tea right now."
Saying this, Rose picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea, handing it gently to Jiang Liufeng, "Grandpa, please have some tea."
Jiang Liufeng smiled slightly, taking the teacup from Rose, and sipped it like a father-in-law tasting tea served by a new daughter-in-law, a look of appreciation spreading across his face.
Not waiting for Rose to pour her a cup, Mandala eagerly picked up the teapot herself, poured a cup, and sipped it, a look of contentment immediately appearing on her lovely face.
The tea’s refreshing and elegant aroma seemed to shoot straight to her head, making Mandala feel her thoughts suddenly clear up, like a sudden epiphany; things she couldn’t understand before suddenly became clear.
"Sister Rose, is there a study room upstairs?"
Suddenly, Mandala looked up, face full of excitement as she asked Rose, unable to hide her enthusiasm.
"Yes, there is."
Seeing Mandala’s change in expression, Rose asked in puzzlement, "Manman, what’s going on? What do you want the study for? Do you need me to show you up?"
"No need, Sister Rose. You stay down here with Grandpa. Just tell me where the study is; I can go up myself."
Mandala declined Rose’s company, her face brimming with excitement. "Sister Rose, you know what? This tea is amazing. Back on Qin Island, I kept thinking about how to completely expel the poison from Grandpa’s body without harming him, but I couldn’t figure it out. Even preparing antidotes was futile."
