Chapter 253 - 252: Are You Interested in Working for My Company?
Upon hearing this, Lin Feng gave a faint smile.
"I don’t know..."
"But I’m guessing it’s probably not anything good."
That one sentence was all it took to give the man the urge to vent.
In truth, Lin Feng thought it was a very cliché story.
But all cliché and melodramatic stories were playing out in reality every minute of every day.
It was just that some people experienced them, and others didn’t.
The burly man had originally been an employee at a travel company on the thirty-third floor of the Nebula Building.
He was even in charge of a seven-person team.
Almost every month and every year, the man and his team were the company’s top performers.
They topped the charts in both project proposals and sales results.
According to his supervisor’s earlier promise, the man should have been promoted to the general manager position at the beginning of this month.
But instead of news of a promotion, what he got was news of his dismissal.
"I found out later that a project proposal I submitted last month had been swapped."
"The version that was handed in under my name was filled with basic, common-sense errors. It even had a printed letter inside."
"The content was outrageous. It imitated my tone to curse out my supervisor and the company’s leadership."
As he spoke, Lin Feng noticed the man’s hands were clenched into fists, veins bulging.
"It was such a low-level trick, but that letter actually made its way to the boss."
"I originally thought that once I explained everything, it would all be over."
"But then, one of my own subordinates suddenly came forward and insisted that I had distributed performance bonuses unfairly, taking credit for other people’s work!"
At this, the man slammed his fist onto the seat next to him.
"How is that possible? I’ve always been fair to my subordinates, and the management and performance distribution system I created is extremely thorough!"
"There’s no way the situation they described could have happened!"
Lin Feng took out a cigarette and lit it, saying with a smile, "There was nothing wrong with your system or your management style. The only problem was human greed."
The man froze for a moment, then sighed deeply, his dejection becoming palpable.
"You’re right. I found out later that a rival of mine had pulled some strings, paying off that employee who turned on me!"
"He also plagiarized my project proposal. With that proposal and this ’brilliant’ setup..."
"He’s probably been promoted to that general manager position he was so obsessed with by now!"
Lin Feng glanced at the man, a look of understanding on his face. "Let me guess. If it were just ordinary office politics, it would be one thing..."
"I’m afraid the person who framed you is someone you know well, right?"
The man nodded with a bitter smile. "Yeah. If it were just some random person, whatever. But he was a brother I grew up with."
"We used to have meals together all the time, just eating and shooting the breeze!"
"How could he turn around and do this to me, all for a general manager position?"
Lin Feng shook his head gently. "The GM position might not be the whole story. It’s possible that in his heart, he stopped seeing you as a brother a long time ago and only saw you as a competitor."
The man heaved a deep sigh and clenched his fist. "Whatever. I don’t care about some stupid GM position. I just came here today to set the record straight."
"I don’t want to take the fall for something I didn’t do. But now, it seems like there’s no point."
The man snuffed out the cigarette in his hand, watching a wisp of white smoke dissipate under the dim, flickering lights.
"From now on, I’ll just pretend I never had that brother. I’ll just eat the loss this time!"
The man said with a long sigh.
Suddenly, the man turned his head and looked at Lin Feng.
"My name is Du Hai. Sorry for bothering you today, brother, making you listen to me dump all my trash!"
Du Hai, a burly man well over six feet tall, was huddled in the corner.
His expression was forlorn...
Lin Feng asked casually, "So you’re jobless now. What are you planning to do?"
Du Hai seemed to have truly come to terms with it, and he was genuinely disheartened.
He sighed and said, "I’m not some inexperienced college grad. With my resume, I can still find a job."
"It’s just that I’ll have to start from the bottom again. After all, that’s how this industry is. You have to climb your way up, bit by bit."
That was a very realistic point.
Even though Du Hai had been a low-level manager at his company...
...at best, he was just a team leader.
He just had a bit more experience than others.
Once he entered a new work environment, he would have to adapt, get along with new people, and start climbing up from a regular employee position all over again.
Of course, if Du Hai had resigned from a general manager position...
...he wouldn’t have so many problems.
After all, experience as a GM was impressive enough on its own.
Lin Feng watched as Du Hai’s expression calmed, and the smile on his own face grew wider.
"Are you interested in working for my company?"
Lin Feng’s words exploded in Du Hai’s ears like a clap of thunder.
Du Hai turned to look at Lin Feng, confused. "Brother, are you a recruiter?"
Lin Feng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He shook his head. "I have a company, and we’re a bit short-staffed right now."
"If you join, you can become a project manager right away."
Du Hai looked Lin Feng up and down in surprise.
In his eyes, Lin Feng seemed like a con artist.
’Who meets someone for the first time, listens to them pour out their troubles, and then offers them a job?’
Du Hai wouldn’t believe it even if he heard it in a story.
Lin Feng didn’t explain, simply smiling as he handed his contact information to Du Hai.
"If you’re interested, you can come to this company for an interview anytime after eight tomorrow morning."
"Whether you take this opportunity is entirely up to you."
With that, Lin Feng turned and left.
He left Du Hai sitting there, staring blankly at the piece of paper in his hand.
At that moment, Du Hai himself wasn’t sure if he would go to that company tomorrow.
...
Because of the matter with Du Hai, Lin Feng was delayed for quite a while.
By the time he returned to the apartment, the sky had grown completely dark.
Su Ruoxi was staring at the large table in the living room, lost in thought about something.
Lin Feng placed his car keys in the entryway.
He walked over to Su Ruoxi’s side, but she didn’t react at first.
"What are you looking at so intently?"
Lin Feng was a little curious about what had captured Su Ruoxi’s full attention.
Hearing Lin Feng’s voice, Su Ruoxi finally snapped out of it.
"Brother Feng, come take a look!"
There was a hint of pleasant surprise in Su Ruoxi’s voice.
Lin Feng walked over and finally saw what Su Ruoxi had laid out on the table.
It was a massive blueprint.
’This must be the blueprint she was so engrossed in just now.’
Lin Feng only needed a single glance to guess what it was. "Are these the revised blueprints for Joy City?"
Su Ruoxi nodded with a smile. "Because there were problems with the previous blueprints, the team Brother Feng recommended last time worked overtime to get the new ones done."
"The leader of that team seems to really admire Tian Xiaowu."
After speaking, Su Ruoxi unfurled the blueprints, pointing out a specific section for Lin Feng.
"Because the distance between Area A and Area C is just too far, and construction is already in its final stages, we can’t make any major changes."
"So, Tian Xiaowu suggested to the team leader that they build two corridors between Area A and Area C."
"One is an underground passage, and the other is an aerial walkway. Both would be themed and have various checkpoints along the way."
Lin Feng followed Su Ruoxi’s finger.
He could see that on the current blueprints, some new things had been added between Area A and Area C.
For example, there were some new attractions.
During the transition from Area A to Area C, the underground passage would mainly feature aquarium-like elements.
The aerial walkway, on the other hand, would combine entertainment and sightseeing, with a theme of an "aerial 3D experience."
"According to Tian Xiaowu’s idea, both corridors are designed like a game with stages to clear."
"Once a visitor passes certain checkpoints in the corridor, their admission ticket will be marked."
"When they finally cross from one area to the other, they can redeem some prizes at the end."
Su Ruoxi had roughly explained Tian Xiaowu’s idea.
As Lin Feng listened carefully, he thought it was indeed an excellent idea.
For one, it would make visitors interested in moving on to the next station.
It would significantly increase the time visitors spent touring the park.
And as their visit time increased, the likelihood of them spending money also grew.
The small prizes would give visitors a greater sense of participation.
Lin Feng now had a very good impression of Tian Xiaowu.
If the design and revision of these blueprints were a test Lin Feng had set for Tian Xiaowu...
...then Tian Xiaowu had just turned in an answer sheet that satisfied him completely.
