Chapter 99: Formalities Complete, You’re Treating Me to a Meal?
「The next day. Eight in the morning.」
Lin Feng woke up and glanced at WeChat.
Their university class advisor, Old Luo, had announced news of a change in the class committee in the group chat.
Lin Feng gave it a quick look.
Basically, aside from the class president and vice president, there were no major changes.
As it turned out, the new vice president was an acquaintance of Lin Feng’s.
It was the former Youth League Secretary, Song Yaqi.
To Lin Feng, it didn’t really matter who became vice president.
As long as they were capable and could get the job done.
After all, even though everyone had pushed him into the position of class president, Lin Feng had no desire to waste his energy on trivial class affairs.
Song Yaqi was quite capable and a hard worker.
So, Lin Feng thought it over and decided this arrangement was fine.
For Song Yaqi, this result was quite unexpected.
In fact, when the school year first started, Song Yaqi had very much wanted to run for class president.
She just knew that Old Luo wouldn’t give her the position right from the start.
Now that she had the chance to be vice president, Song Yaqi was ecstatic.
To Song Yaqi, this experience as a class officer was invaluable. The extra credit was one thing, but more importantly, it would look great on her future resume, she could learn new things, and she could build a good relationship with the teachers.
"You and Lin Feng need to cooperate well and strive to do a good job!"
Song Yaqi’s heart swelled with emotion as she read Old Luo’s private message to her.
No one had any objections to Song Yaqi becoming the vice president.
For one, Song Yaqi was already on pretty good terms with everyone in the class.
Besides, as far as everyone else was concerned, they didn’t care who became vice president—as long as it wasn’t the former class president, who only knew how to bully his own classmates.
What’s more, Song Yaqi had gotten along well with everyone while serving as the Youth League Secretary.
The masses have sharp eyes, and they could all see that Song Yaqi was a grounded and diligent person.
Lin Feng quickly scanned the messages in the group chat and then closed the app.
This was just a minor matter to him.
Just as Lin Feng put down his phone, his sister Lin Xiaoman pushed the door open and came in.
"Bro, I want to go hang out with my sister-in-law! Hurry up and give me a ride!"
Startled by Lin Xiaoman bursting in, Lin Feng shot a glare at his boisterous sister.
"You don’t even knock? All you ever think about is going out to play with your sister-in-law!"
Despite his words, Lin Feng stood up and headed for the door.
Halfway there, he spun around, looked at Lin Xiaoman, and said, "Your sister-in-law drove off with the car yesterday. You still want me to give you a ride...?"
Lin Xiaoman slapped her forehead. "Ah, I forgot about that!"
"Let me give my sister-in-law a call."
Lin Xiaoman dialed the number, but it was Lin Feng’s phone that rang.
Lin Feng looked helplessly at his silly sister.
"You must have dialed the wrong number!"
Lin Xiaoman stuck out her tongue, made a face, and glanced out the window.
There, she saw a familiar car parked at the building entrance.
"Looks like my sister-in-law and I are on the same wavelength! She came to pick me up without me even having to call!"
Immediately forgetting all about her brother, Lin Xiaoman grabbed her bag and headed out the door.
Lin Feng shrugged helplessly.
He suddenly noticed that Xiaoman had left her phone on the cabinet.
’This girl is so scatterbrained!’
Lin Feng grabbed the forgotten phone and followed Xiaoman out the door.
He resigned himself to his role as his sister’s personal errand boy for the time being.
’How do those two have so much energy when they get together?’
The two of them had even made plans to go hiking today.
Unfortunately, Lin Feng had things to do and couldn’t join the two beauties on their hike.
"Some of the paperwork should be nearly finished today. I need to go check on it, so you two go have fun without me!"
As it happened, Lin Xiaoman didn’t really want her brother to come along anyway.
Today was supposed to be a trip to relax and clear their minds.
Lin Xiaoman had some things she wanted to talk to Su Ruoxi about alone.
If Lin Feng had actually gone with them, Lin Xiaoman probably wouldn’t have been able to bring it up.
Having lived with his sister for so many years, how could Lin Feng not notice Lin Xiaoman’s unusual behavior today?
After he left, Lin Feng sent Su Ruoxi a message: "I’m leaving my silly sister in your hands. Thanks for taking care of her!"
’Better give my sister some space.’
The person Lin Feng was going to see this early was none other than Huizi.
Huizi was holding a thick stack of contract documents.
She had managed to get through so much paperwork in such a short amount of time. While the An Company had fast-tracked the process, it was mostly a testament to Huizi’s exceptional personal abilities.
It was safe to say that anyone else, no matter how skilled, would have needed another two or three days.
She had even managed to process the documents requiring departmental approval on the very first morning the relevant office was officially open for business.
Huizi had already prepared all the documents and contracts.
Huizi also knew that Lin Feng was in a hurry.
So, she had arranged to meet him today to hand over the paperwork.
Lin Feng hadn’t expected Huizi to be so efficient.
Lin Feng nodded in satisfaction upon seeing the documents in Huizi’s hands.
"Your efficiency is impressive. This storefront should be completely mine now, right?"
Hearing Lin Feng’s question, Huizi quickly nodded. "That’s right, Mr. Lin. All the procedures have been completed."
"All related taxes and fees have been settled as well."
Lin Feng looked at the payment records at the bottom of the contract.
He did a rough calculation.
’Huizi is really capable, nothing like an inexperienced rookie.’
The related processing fees were even lower than Lin Feng had imagined.
"Excellent!"
"Then I’ll take these contracts with me."
Very satisfied, Lin Feng collected the contracts and documents.
In Lin Feng’s view, the matter had come to a perfect conclusion.
Huizi had completed her work very well.
However, as Lin Feng turned to leave,
Huizi hesitated for a moment, then grabbed her bag and hurried after him.
"Excuse me, Mr. Lin..."
"I know our business together should be concluded now!"
"But I... I really must thank you for this, Mr. Lin!"
"It’s about time for lunch. It would be my treat, if you would do me the honor!"
Walking beside Lin Feng with her bag in hand, Huizi blurted out the invitation that was on her mind.
After extending the invitation, Huizi’s nerves were stretched taut, like a violin string.
After all, she was sincere in her desire to thank Lin Feng.
If Lin Feng refused, they would likely have no reason to interact ever again.
In her heart, Huizi felt she owed Lin Feng a favor.
Lin Feng paused, turning to glance at Huizi and then at the time.
"On account of your efficiency..."
"I accept your invitation."
Lin Feng stopped walking, smiled at Huizi, and nodded in agreement.
