Chapter 239 - 238: Inherit the Company? Yang Qiniang’s Choice
Just as Lin Feng was riding a wave of success,
Yang Qiniang, however, was facing a new problem.
The new interview plan, which Yang Qiniang had submitted last time with Lin Feng’s encouragement,
had been carefully examined by Yang Tianming,
and had won his praise.
Meanwhile, the plan Yang Qingqing came up with still fell somewhat short compared to the one her brother, Yang Qiniang, had developed from practical experience.
Besides, Yang Qingqing wasn’t ready to get involved in these matters so early on.
Yang Tianming was a doting father,
and he greatly respected Yang Qingqing’s wishes.
However, when it came to the son who constantly brought him pleasant surprises,
Yang Tianming couldn’t help but have high hopes.
When Yang Qiniang returned home,
he was surprised to find Yang Tianming and Secretary Li in the living room.
"Dad, Uncle Li, are you two discussing business?"
Yang Qiniang greeted them and was about to head upstairs,
but Yang Tianming stopped him.
"We weren’t discussing anything..."
"We were just waiting for you. Come over, let’s have a good chat!"
Although Yang Tianming had a faint smile on his face,
Yang Qiniang felt a sudden chill run down his spine.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that this was a setup.
"Chat about what?"
Seeing his father and his father’s assistant looking so solemn,
Yang Qiniang couldn’t help but become serious as well.
As soon as he sat down,
Yang Qiniang saw a familiar document on the coffee table.
It was the very same new interview plan he had submitted earlier.
"Oh, so you wanted to talk to me about this interview plan, Dad!"
Thinking he had figured it out, Yang Qiniang let out a long sigh of relief and relaxed a little.
However, Yang Tianming shook his head. "While we are going to talk about this, the plan itself isn’t the most important part."
Yang Qiniang looked at his father, a little bewildered.
Yang Tianming didn’t beat around the bush and said directly:
"Qiniang, your Uncle Li and I have looked over this proposal."
"To be honest, neither your Uncle Li nor I expected you to be able to come up with such a comprehensive and well-thought-out plan. It’s excellent."
"It even exceeded my expectations."
Yang Qiniang rubbed the back of his head, feeling a little awkward.
Ever since he started high school, Yang Qiniang had rarely heard such direct praise and compliments from his father, Yang Tianming.
"Not at all, not at all. I think the plan is just average..."
Yang Qiniang offered a few humble words,
but inwardly, he was overjoyed.
Of course, Yang Tianming knew exactly what his son was really thinking.
He tapped Yang Qiniang on the head with his pen. "Alright, let’s get down to business."
"Originally, I thought you wouldn’t show any real growth until after college at the very least."
"But ever since you started hanging around that kid Lin Feng, your rate of growth has been very fast. I’m very pleased."
"Now, after seeing this plan, I have an idea, and I wonder if you’ll agree to it."
As he said this, Yang Tianming just stared at Yang Qiniang.
Yang Qiniang’s heart skipped a beat as he vaguely guessed what was coming.
He asked cautiously, "Dad? You’re not thinking of shifting your heavy burden onto my shoulders, are you?"
Hearing this, Yang Tianming and Secretary Li burst out laughing.
Secretary Li shook his head with a smile and said, "Even if President Yang wanted to do that now, I’m afraid your shoulders are still a bit too young to bear it, Qiniang."
Yang Qiniang let out another long sigh of relief upon hearing this.
It was true that his family was wealthy.
Outsiders only saw him as a rich second-generation heir from a privileged family.
But Yang Qiniang knew very well that this comfortable life of his was bought and paid for with his father’s time and energy.
When it came to the company’s affairs and his father’s business tactics,
Yang Qiniang was not yet prepared to start learning.
However, just as Yang Qiniang heaved that sigh of relief,
Yang Tianming said, "I want you to intern in one of the company’s entry-level departments."
"I want you to start learning the fundamentals from the ground up."
"Are you willing?"
Yang Qiniang froze on the spot.
In truth, Yang Qiniang had thought about it before—that one day, he would have to join his father’s company.
But he had always felt that he lacked the ability and experience.
So he was never mentally prepared for it.
Even his guess just now had been more of a flippant question.
He never imagined that his father, Yang Tianming, would actually want him to intern at the company.
"Isn’t this a bit early? Dad, didn’t you say I should wait until my senior year of college to do an internship?"
Yang Qiniang was still reeling.
Yang Tianming tapped the document on the coffee table. "I used to think you needed to be tempered a bit more, but it now seems you’ve already met the standard for joining the company."
Hearing his father say that,
Yang Qiniang was filled with complex emotions.
’So, without even realizing it, I’ve already grown to a level that my father acknowledges.’
"Do you want to come intern at the company now?"
Yang Tianming asked again.
Yang Qiniang looked up and saw a glimmer of hope in Yang Tianming’s eyes.
Secretary Li, at his side, said with a smile:
"President Yang knows you’re busy starting a company with that Classmate Lin of yours right now, Qiniang."
"If you really agree to come intern here at the company, you’ll probably have to put your previous work on hold for now."
Secretary Li had laid all the cards on the table.
"Qiniang, I know that over at Lin Feng’s company, you’re in what could be considered a management role."
"But if you come to intern at your father’s company, you definitely won’t be able to sit in such a high position."
"Whether it’s for the sake of tempering yourself or for earning the respect of others, you can only start from the bottom."
Yang Qiniang understood this principle.
After all, to truly understand a company in all its aspects, one had to have worked in the most foundational positions.
Furthermore, as the future heir to the company,
if he were just parachuted into a top position right away, it would be hard to win everyone’s respect.
Only by producing real results could he command that respect.
Secretary Li had already made the pros and cons of the situation very clear.
Now, it was up to Yang Qiniang to choose.
Hearing what Secretary Li said, Yang Qiniang felt conflicted.
On one hand, there was the work with his father.
On the other, there was the company he and Lin Feng had built from the ground up.
Yang Qiniang was hesitant.
Yang Tianming saw Yang Qiniang’s hesitation as clear as day.
For a moment, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
’I can’t believe that kid Lin Feng has so much pull,’
’that he’s even making my own son hesitate about working for our family’s company.’
"It’s alright, Qiniang. Take your time and think it over."
Yang Tianming didn’t want to pressure Yang Qiniang.
As for Yang Qiniang, upon returning to his room, he immediately called Lin Feng.
"Brother Feng, what should I do now?"
"I’m a greedy person—I don’t want to give up either side!"
