Chapter 568: THE UNEXPECTED PIECE & THE ESCAPE
A crisp explosion rang out, shaking the entire space! Unable to withstand the pressure of the God Realm’s devouring power, the pitch-black energy stone immediately split with thousands of cracks that radiated dazzling purple light. The shattered fragments exploded apart, turning into fine black dust before being completely devoured by the darkness surrounding Silvanus’s hand, leaving not even a single fragment behind!
The entire scarlet world immediately began to shake violently. Massive cracks started spreading across the surrounding scenery, like a sheet of glass on the verge of shattering. The central axis of the maze had been completely destroyed!
On the livestream screen, Silvanus’s personal camera feed immediately shook along with him. The millions of viewers sitting in front of their screens could only watch as the crimson scenery from moments ago melted away like wax beneath a flame.
[The maze is collapsing! The core energy source is gone!]
[Aaaah! Where’s the exit?! Silvanus, be careful! If this space collapses completely, you’ll be sucked into that void rift!]
[Look up there! There’s a streak of light!]
Just as the viewers had predicted, at the highest point of the Central Axis, amid the shattered ruins of the crimson space, a brilliant hole of light suddenly tore open in the sky. A beam of pure white light poured straight down, illuminating Silvanus’s jet-black hair and neatly flowing priestly robes.
That was the only escape route back before the entire CD maze was completely destroyed.
Silvanus looked up, his deep green eyes reflecting the white light from above. Without the slightest hint of panic or haste, he lightly brushed his sleeve and lowered his center of gravity. Power surged beneath his feet as Silvanus stomped hard against the cracked transparent floor, launching himself gracefully into the air and hurtling straight toward the brilliant opening of light.
Swoosh——
However, just as his figure swept past the final collapsing fragment of space, Silvanus suddenly felt a strange pulling force.
It was so gentle that it felt almost like a ribbon brushing against him, yet it was incredibly persistent, clinging tightly to his ankle.
"Hm?"
Silvanus raised an eyebrow slightly. He stopped moving in midair, deftly turned around, and lowered his head to look down at his feet.
Amid the ruins overflowing with destructive energy, where pitch-black void rifts were devouring chunks of the crimson world one after another, a tiny creature was desperately clinging on.
It was a pitch-black cat.
Its fur was pure black without a single strand of another color, short and smooth, but now covered in stone dust and the illusory traces of shattered space. The creature was so small that it seemed a mere shockwave would be enough to crush it. Its four short legs and tiny, trembling claws were using every last bit of strength they had to cling tightly to the hem of Silvanus’s trousers.
Meow...
It looked up at him with a pair of round eyes. They were bright amber eyes, yet incredibly frail, glistening with tears as though filled with pleading and terror at the prospect of being swallowed by the void. Its meow was so faint that it was almost drowned out by the roar of the collapsing space.
A living creature had appeared right at the Central Axis of the CD maze?
Silvanus hovered in midair, the hem of his black robe fluttering gently. For a brief moment, his blue eyes silently gazed at the tiny creature trembling beneath his feet.
Without the slightest hesitation, disgust, or reluctance, Silvanus slowly lowered himself in midair.
The very hand that had just shattered the energy stone with Erebus’s primordial power of darkness now gently slipped beneath the black cat’s belly. Silvanus lifted the tiny creature into his arms, drawing it against the warmth of his chest.
The black cat let out a tiny, soft "meow," rubbing its head against his chest as though it had just found the safest place in the world.
"Hold on tight."
Silvanus murmured the words in an indifferent tone. He tightened his grip slightly and shot straight through the opening of light above!
BOOM!
The entire crimson world behind him shattered into countless fragments of illusion before completely vanishing into the void.
SWISH!
Brilliant light flashed past. When the livestream audience’s vision returned, they realized that the screen had gone dark as well, leaving behind only a pitch-black screen with comments continuously flashing across it.
The livestream chat paused for a moment before immediately exploding at an unprecedented speed! Hundreds of thousands of donations and comments flooded the screen, obscuring even the actual footage:
[HE CLEARED IT!! OH MY GOD, THAT WAS SO FAST AND SO COOL!]
[I knew from the very beginning that this thing couldn’t possibly give Silvanus any trouble.]
[This program is getting more and more boring.]
[Stop using this as an excuse to trash Silvanus. It’s only because he’s too strong that there’s no bloody spectacle for you guys to watch, lol.]
[Where did that cat come from? That wasn’t part of the Happy Audio setting!]
Elsewhere in the world, Nick was sitting with his eyes glued to Silvanus’s broadcast.
Nick’s brown hair hung slightly over his forehead, but his brown eyes were burning with excitement. As expected, nothing had happened to Silvanus—and he was still just as powerful! Remembering the final scene of the first dungeon, Nick still couldn’t help feeling shaken. He had even thought that Silvanus was actually going to die.
But it seemed the viewers were right. Erebus really did favor Silvanus...
...
Ding! Ding! Ding!
At the same time, inside Silvanus’s mind, notification sounds announcing the addition of faith power continued to ring out.
Silvanus smiled faintly as he sensed the abundant surge of dark power flooding into his body, causing his divine soul to become increasingly condensed and powerful. He gently stroked the soft fur of the black cat in his arms.
In a soft voice, he asked, "What exactly are you?"
The mysterious cat slowly narrowed its eyes, enjoying his touch while concealing a deep, mysterious glimmer within its pupils. Immediately afterward, Nine’s voice rang out as well, cold as ice, yet this time carrying a rare hint of sincerity: [Congratulations, Your Excellency, on completing your schedule!]
Silvanus could not help raising an eyebrow: [You showed up at just the right time, didn’t you? Aren’t you going to keep being all secretive anymore?]
