Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 682 - 98: Dragon Treasure (Part 2)

Some orders and rules need to be established by these young ones themselves.

Even though the Golden Empire educates these young ones with all sorts of wisdom, it always maintains the rules that should exist among dragons and never thought of transforming them into a completely different race.

There was only one red hatchling with an unusually large head, with a small backpack hanging in front of its neck, who knocked those hatchlings mocking Achilles over, laughing out loud: "A bunch of fools hit with an idiot spell," then swaggered away.

Not until all the hatchlings had left did Achilles look at Silver Dragon Chris, who had been quietly observing, his small face tightly knit with the anxiety of a student left behind after class, unable to suppress his panic.

"You don’t need to stay today, Little Achilles," Silver Dragon Chris gently looked at this strange creature and softly said, "This is my last lesson for you."

Chris came over, stroking Achilles’ smooth fur, and softly said, "No matter what, remember your original form, rather than being completely changed by your environment. Keep what’s good, discard what’s not."

"Mm, I understand," Achilles nodded somewhat confusedly, then put on his small beast hide backpack and slowly left the classroom.

Only Silver Dragon Chris gazed at this creature, which seemed somewhat bewildered and clumsy yet exceptionally well-behaved, and murmured, "Sealing innate heritage and wildness, can that really change a naturally fierce race entirely? Is it for some reason, or is he just using Achilles as a guinea pig!"

The bemused Achilles walked out of the true Giant Dragon Academy. This institution, specially built for the gold dragons of the Golden Empire to further their studies, was situated on the northern edge of the Royal Capital.

This place was already extremely close to the mountain range of the Dragon Nest, separated only by a Forest of Sin.

Nevertheless, stepping out of the deep alley of the Giant Dragon Academy, one was greeted by noisy sounds.

Some goblin-run taverns were located in the cheap areas of the border houses, and the minstrels beside the tavern mostly did not carry harps and lyras like their counterparts in other regions.

Instead, they were gradually assimilated by the civilizations of the Golden Empire and the North, using instruments like bagpipes and magic conches and Variation Horns.

Although minstrels in the public’s eyes were seen as romantic and passionate people who sang anthems while wandering wide fields, within the minstrel industry, there still existed a hierarchy of scorn.

Vagabond poets looked down upon court poets, considering them too superficial.

Minstrels who sang holy songs for various churches looked down upon vagabond poets, deeming them too vulgar.

However, these seemingly conspicuous yet inconspicuous minstrels often played important roles in many matters.

In the territories of some noble lords, these minstrels also acted as night watchers, employed when there was no efficient alert system in the castle, and stationed soldiers could not quickly convey critical intelligence to everyone.

Minstrels could blow their instruments in emergencies, serving as alarms.

Moreover, some minstrels were often planted by some noble lords as spies within opposing foreign forces. While performing at some important occasions, these watchful performers were not easily detected and could easily gather some intelligence.

Whether it was Red Copper Dragon Alfred’s Cultural Propaganda Department or other noble powers in the Northern Territories, they all had a group of minstrel spies at their disposal.

But as the Green Algae River Alliance was reached, the power of the Golden Empire had become the target that the countries of the Northern Territory urgently needed to scout, so whether it was in other cities or the Royal Capital, the number of traveling minstrels increased day by day.

Some of these minstrels were even spies sent by the famous ’Harpist’ organization. These harpists who used magic to combat evil might be acting out of their own sense of justice or perhaps due to ingrained prejudice and stubbornness, or maybe for other reasons.

These minstrels began plotting in the cities of the Golden Empire, inciting innocent and deceived citizens to oppose the dragons’ dictatorial rule and deceitful tyranny.

Perhaps these guys only wanted the rulers of the Golden Empire to crack down on these incited citizens, thus exposing their own bloodthirstiness, rather than truly hoping that these ordinary people could resist the dragons’ rule.

Unfortunately, these arrogant harpists did not realize that the situation in the Empire was completely different from that within other noble territories.

Achilles’ dark eyes watched a minstrel leaning against the Green Rong Tree outside the Goblin Tavern, singing ’Dragon Treasure’ with the exquisite Six Rhymes Music.

Even though this minstrel had done some disguises and dressed like a wandering poet, even Achilles could see the incongruity of the high-class lute made from tulip wood in his hands.

A group of knights wearing night-black armor walked down the street, causing a stir.

These knights’ black armor bore the insignia of the Giant Dragon’s Eye on the chestplate, with a Balance Scale below the Giant Dragon’s Eye, the left side symbolizing the Book of Law, and the right side representing the Sword of Punishment.

This special insignia indicated that these knights belonged to the Judgment Knights of the Imperial Court of Justice.
