Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 643 - 85: Deeper Than the Sea

The young Red Dragon Kedelos, with a dizzy Silver Dragon hanging from its tail, arrived at the Governor’s mansion, feeling somewhat guilty, peeking around curiously at this Governor’s mansion.

However, the Kobold guards, no taller than the lion-headed eagle statue at the Governor’s mansion entrance, informed him that the current Bronze Dragon Lord of the Ruling Empire, Alina, who is hailed outside as the Queen of Bronze Dragon Wisdom, had already gone to inspect the plane base of the Magic Research Department.

Accompanying her were the Steel Dragon Midir, Charlize, the maid of the Emperor of the Imperial, and the Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Pik Fairy Riven.

The Great Fairy Riven is a core member of the Imperial, one of the founding elders who first followed the Dragon Group to build the empire. Due to her naturally lively and cheerful personality, she is a friend to all Giant Dragons, giving her such a unique position.

And Charlize, though only the emperor’s maid, received a noble education, endowing her with a rich knowledge reserve.

While serving alongside the emperor, she managed to grasp some governing ideas from the Ancestral Red Dragon, and now she is also a capable assistant to Bronze Dragon Alina.

However, Kedelos didn’t expect that Steel Dragon Midir wasn’t staying in Winter Hideaway City, but ran back here.

"It seems Midir has come up with another wicked plan, but those folks are all worse than me. I’m just bad on the surface; inside their hearts, they’re pitch black,"

Thought the young Red Dragon Kedelos as he dragged the unconscious Silver Dragon on their way to the dimensional base of the Magic Integration Research Department.

The Magic Integration Department, located in the northwestern corner of the Royal Capital, is an isolated area. By the standards of building in the Dragon Nation, this terraced structure covering tens of thousands of acres seems somewhat small.

The soldiers once standing guard at the gate have been replaced by two ordinary Kobold guards from the Imperial Guard. To outsiders, the level of alert here does not seem high.

It appears that any assassin or thief adept in Shadow Power could slip into this place, considered mysterious even by the Empire’s populace.

But those seemingly silent, lifeless stone and steel golems, the giant wood golems like wooden stakes, and War Tree-men, whose bodies are fully embedded in the earth, listening to the pulse of every corner.

These beings are always scanning every corner of this area, able to search for every slight fluctuation in power through this vast defense network in the magic defense node of the Royal Capital.

Even the Raven Parrots nesting on the trees camouflaged by the War Tree-men, poke their heads from their nests, with shrewd eyes scanning in all directions.

The combat ability of these golems is not strong because all their power has been adjusted by the Mages to a search and scan mode.

But in the Royal Capital of this Dragon Nation, discovering the enemy’s trace is enough.

Moreover, perhaps the most dangerous part of this seemingly peaceful city is in fact this area.

The young Red Dragon Kedelos swaggered into the gate of the Magic Integration Department, not causing any unusual fluctuations. Although Kedelos doesn’t hold a prominent position among the Dragon Group, he is, after all, one of the few high-ranking entities within the Empire’s massive system.

The towering buildings entirely built with steel-gray and white fine steel pillars were not his target. These institutions with signs, now turned into places for clerical staff leisure and meetings, are devoid of any important research.

Kedelos could still see from the open windows of these buildings many scholars and mages wearing magic crystal chip glasses, sitting at desks perusing notes and research documents.

Of course, the red dragon’s gaze was also drawn to the female attendants with ample, round thighs peeking from their skirts, carrying tea back and forth.

Following the flowerbed path that encircles the entire area all the way to the end, two Gargoyle statues guard a garden gate, with the words "Magic Paradise" written in common tongue on the gate rail.

The two Gargoyle statues are golems, but also true Gargoyles.

The mages have bound the captured Gargoyle souls outside their bodies, replacing them with Elemental Essences controlled by the mages, and used these eternally sleeping but always alert biological golems as guardians of the garden gate.

The young Red Dragon chuckled, revealing its fangs, lifting the Silver Dragon high on its tail, and then stepping into the garden gate.

As if lights suddenly went out in a brightly lit room at night, the view ahead plunged into perpetual darkness.

A smell, difficult to describe, mingled with the unique stink of serpents, permeated the entire space, strong and oppressively latent, occasionally flickering, causing a chill to rise along the tailbone of the Silver Dragon pretending to be asleep.

In the dark space, flowing passages suddenly lit with several golden lights.

But those were not firelights, but pairs of huge pupils emitting brilliant light in the darkness, scanning the identity and aura of the newcomers.

Nine-headed Hydra’s golden head raised high, its pupil lights like golden lamps scanning the Silver Dragon hanging from the Red Dragon’s tail, while the other heads extended sinuously, sniffing around the suddenly tense Silver Dragon.
