Chapter 2483 - 2475: Shelter
The lady boss was quite surprised, Ninth Brother didn’t immediately notice the goods had arrived, "Aren’t you keeping an eye on the warehouse?"
"I don’t dare keep an eye on the warehouse," Ninth Brother answered honestly, "Alright, I’ll go check my warehouse!"
He opened the underground warehouse, and seeing it fully stocked with energy stones, he instantly cheered up and quickly sent a signal to his clan members to inform them that it was "time to work".
The clan members hadn’t stopped bothering Ninth Brother lately, they even suspected he had acquired energy stones again but sold them at a high price to others—such hard times really test people’s hearts.
However, they couldn’t directly ask Ninth Brother; otherwise, if that guy went crazy, who knows what he might do.
So, lately, someone had been trying to make small talk, hoping to get closer to Ninth Brother and get some energy stones out.
Ninth Brother was annoyed because the other side was slow to mention the goods, and there were people being so noisy around him. He knew very well that his clan members had some bad suspicions about him, but he couldn’t explain it—he couldn’t even contact that charitable guy.
Now that there were energy stones, he arranged for some trusted clan members to do the transfers. These members certainly wouldn’t leak the specifics, but hinting to the other clan members that Ninth Brother got some more energy stones was fine.
Ninth Brother also hoped to use these rumors to boost some morale among the clan members in the association.
But at the same time, he emphasized, "This location must absolutely not be disclosed... if anyone dares to cut off the livelihood of our Chen Family, Ninth Brother will recognize you by your surname Chen, but the knife in my hand doesn’t care who you are, do you all get my meaning?"
Simply put, he regarded this underground warehouse as the only place where the Chen Family obtained their sustenance.
Some young people didn’t quite understand and couldn’t help but speak, "Ninth Brother, there are actually more secret places."
"Is this a matter of secrecy?" Ninth Brother cast him a cold glance, speaking with a darkened face, "You all need to know, once the information gets out, our Chen Family won’t be able to protect the food, and then... there’s no ’then’."
In one night, all the goods could be transported, unknowingly bringing in 200,000 tons of energy stones. He could basically confirm that this force absolutely had a connection with the anomaly over in Zuo Jing City.
Thinking about how Hesheng and Pioneer Bank have gotten embarrassed, Ninth Brother wouldn’t have any illusion of luck; his only thought was that the longer the cooperation continued, the better. For this, he would spare no effort to maintain this line.
As for the mall’s side, it’s another operation model. The lady boss dispatched a few trusted aides, who drove a hover car to transport the energy blocks to the mall’s energy processing center through the hover car channel repeatedly to activate energy conversion.
The mall had reserves of energy stones and energy blocks, which everyone knew, but no one knew exactly how much. Now, the hover cars were transporting them separately bit by bit, and generally, people couldn’t ascertain the quantity.
Only a select few were aware of the inside information, and one had to admit that in terms of management, the lady boss outperformed Ninth Brother by more than just a bit.
But at this moment, the younger brother-in-law raised an objection to the lady boss, believing that giving Old Ninth Chen so many energy blocks was a bit much, "The capital is ours, people just transported the goods to the parking lot, why give him half for free?"
The lady boss’s face darkened instantly, "Do you believe that if this word gets out, you would face no less than a hundred ways to die! Not knowing anything but dare to talk nonsense?"
The younger brother-in-law was startled by this but still stated, "Are you worried about those people? They... heh, aren’t they after money too?"
"They’re after money?" The lady boss glared at him and shook her head helplessly, "The old Shen from the military department responsible for supervision has been detained... do you know why?"
"Haven’t heard," the younger brother-in-law shook his head, "Do you want me to find out the reason for you?"
"No need," the lady boss shook her head and replied lightly, "What you see as the truth isn’t necessarily the truth; those people you speak of aren’t necessarily in it for the money."
"Not in it for money, are they doing charity?" The younger brother-in-law sneered, "Then why set the price so high?"
The lady boss casually responded, "Because if it’s set low, people wouldn’t appreciate it."
"How could that be," the younger brother-in-law shook his head categorically denying, "If he sets a low price, everyone would feel grateful!"
"Hmm?" The lady boss squinted her eyes, looking coldly at him, "If you know gratitude, would you still be complaining about the high price now?"
Her face grew colder, "Have you forgotten that without this channel, for even five times the price, we wouldn’t be able to buy energy stones... is this what you call knowing gratitude?"
"I was wrong," the younger brother-in-law admitted his mistake frankly but was still somewhat defiant, "But they obviously have a large number of energy stones."
"They have what’s theirs and the bank has a lot of Federation currency," the lady boss looked at him blandly, "Does the bank owe you money?"
The younger brother-in-law was reliable enough but wasn’t that sharp, and he couldn’t help but retort, "But the bank’s money... doesn’t belong to the bank itself."
The lady boss was at her wit’s end, "Go talk to your brother, but this matter must not be spread, or I’ll fall out; this time... my stance is very clear, right?"
"Of course," the younger brother-in-law mumbled softly, still defiant but definitely not causing trouble, which is the advantage of a family business; one can internally bicker vehemently, but there’s rarely betrayal.
Feng Jun didn’t pay attention to these things, in his opinion, his reaction wasn’t very prompt this time, but that wasn’t a bad thing. If he were all jumpy about grabbing things every time, it would seem he was overly eager for the other party’s goods.
What happened with Hesheng couldn’t happen again; he had to show a sense of not caring.
Later that evening, he appeared again in an abandoned building, hastily making his way towards the metal recycling company.
Ninth Brother was already there waiting, having only slept for two hours all day, his eyes bloodshot but his spirits seemed quite good, "Sir is here? The goods over there are almost ready, you can pick them up in two days... we also have diabetic medication."
"Picking up the goods is fine," Feng Jun frowned slightly, "But do you have a place to store the items we’ve transported over for you?"
Ninth Brother pondered for a moment before answering, "I’ve been thinking about this issue too... maybe after a few days, I should clear some of the warehouse?"
"That’s for you to consider, I won’t bother with it," Feng Jun shook his head, "But, once you clear out the warehouse, will it fit?"
Upon hearing this, Ninth Brother’s eyes lit up, he had prepared 500,000 tons of materials, planning to bring about 150,000 tons, among which medical equipment weighed more than energy stones, given the scale of this warehouse, it should fit.
So instead of worrying, he was pleased, "Sir doesn’t mind bringing more materials?"
"I’m charging seventy percent of the transportation fee," Feng Jun responded nonchalantly, "If you want me to bring less, I don’t mind."
"Then I’ll prepare more," Ninth Brother made up his mind decisively, "However, since you’re not worried about transporting goods... delivering to the warehouse in two batches shouldn’t be a problem, right?"
"Oh," Feng Jun chuckled upon hearing it, "You’re quite good at ordering me around."
"Absolutely not," Ninth Brother shook his head quickly, then solemnly replied, "Mainly, I don’t want to publicize this, I suppose you wouldn’t want to either, though other places can be found, this one is relatively safer... that advantage is enough."
Truth be told, Feng Jun agreed with his reasoning, so he nodded slightly, "Alright, I’ll come again in five days... how many tons of energy stones for that diabetic medication production line?"
"350,000 tons," Ninth Brother answered seriously, "If it weren’t so rushed, around 320,000 tons would settle it, but I want to transport it in one batch, so I raised the price. If you disagree, 300,000 tons would do too."
"You think I’m stingy enough to take advantage of you?" Feng Jun waved it off dismissively, "So in total, I still owe you 550,000 tons, right? I’ll unload everything at the mall parking lot in five days, just check with the one surnamed Qin if she can clear out space?"
Ninth Brother wasn’t surprised at how the other party knew about Sister Qin, but he ran to make the call, "Please wait, my communication device isn’t on me."
Soon he returned, with a somewhat odd expression, "Sister Qin said that so many energy stones probably can’t be converted in a short time, but her family has a shelter, currently unused, not sure if it can be stored there?"
"Hey, a shelter..." Feng Jun shook his head helplessly, pondering the tough lives of the locals, "If it fits, then my only demand, which you can probably guess."
"I got it!" Ninth Brother nodded understandingly, "Remove all surveillance, right?"
"Exactly," Feng Jun nodded, "I’ve emphasized time and again, you should understand how important this is to me."
"I completely understand," Ninth Brother nodded assuredly, "Rest easy, should anything go wrong, I’d bring my head to see you."
The lady boss’s shelter is at the foot of the mountain on the outskirts of Xiajing City. The Qin Family descended from interstellar pirates and were recruited after the Insect Race crisis; they were stationed here to atone for their crimes.
The Qin Family isn’t large in number, but they own two warships capable of fighting. When they built the shelter, they considered counter-strikes, so they dug out a large space inside the mountain.
At that time, Xiajing was a small city, and the government supported such actions. Later, as Xiajing developed better, they found such large-scale private shelters somewhat obstructive--if you can raid the Insect Race, it means you could potentially threaten the government.
Later still, the Qin Family’s warships became outdated, dismantled, and they couldn’t buy new ones. Although they wished to modify the shelter, given that it would make the authorities uncomfortable, this shelter ended up being left in storage.
