Chapter 1266: The Warmth of His Chest, Spreading Heat to Her Skin
Those three words slipped softly from Yan Xinxin’s rosy lips.
As if she wasn’t quite sure of them herself.
Mo Chuxi saw the little woman lying on the bed, big eyes wide open and fixed on him, and hurried to the door, locking it behind him.
Yan Xinxin slowly sat up, watching Mo Chuxi turn back and walk toward her, her bright pupils fixed on him.
"How did you come up from the balcony? Why are you here looking for me again?"
"Xinxin."
At her words, Mo Chuxi immediately walked to the bedside and reached out to hold Yan Xinxin’s hand.
"Xinxin, you still haven’t recovered?"
"Recovered?"
Yan Xinxin repeated the word in confusion, a faint shadow of worry surfacing in her eyes.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about. You should go, now."
As she spoke, she tried to pull her hand out of Mo Chuxi’s palm, but he only tightened his grip.
"Xinxin, don’t drive me away."
Mo Chuxi’s dark eyes stayed on her, the attachment and reluctance in them unmistakable.
"You can ignore me, you can be mad at me, you can even... not know me. But don’t make me leave."
He clasped her hand and leaned his handsome face closer.
Feeling him draw near, Yan Xinxin’s heartbeat sped up on its own, her cheeks warming slightly, a certain emotion flashing faintly through her gaze.
"I told you, you need to go. If someone finds you in my room, you’ll be in trouble."
Hearing this, a joy that couldn’t be put into words lit up Mo Chuxi’s face.
"Xinxin, are you worried about me?"
He asked, lips lifting with delight.
"Xinxin, have you already recovered? Nana said she woke you up a bit early at the end. Did you hear the sound of the bell?"
"..."
Yan Xinxin seemed to fall silent for a few seconds at that, then she yanked her hand free with force and turned to get out of bed.
"If you don’t leave now, I’ll call someone."
She sounded resolute, and with that she walked toward the door.
Mo Chuxi didn’t hesitate. He quickly followed after her, and from behind he pulled her into his arms.
Yan Xinxin’s steps stopped abruptly, her expression pausing.
The warmth of his chest seeped through his shirt and the fabric of her dress, spreading hot against her skin.
The rhythm of his heart was still that strong, still enough to make another heart race.
"Xinxin, I know you must feel something for me now, just like when I saw you again and fell for you at first sight all over again."
Mo Chuxi’s magnetic voice sounded right by her ear.
"Xinxin, I’ve always felt what we have is special. We had a deep bond when we were kids, and even after being apart for so many years, once we met again we were still the ones who loved each other most, because feelings can’t lie."
As he spoke, he slowly loosened his hold, took Yan Xinxin by the shoulders and gently turned her around.
They faced each other head-on, eyes locked.
He felt her gaze was no longer so empty.
In the night, her eyes were like bright stars, dazzling and beautiful.
"Yuan, let Brother Xi stay with you. Brother Xi would never do anything to hurt you."
Mo Chuxi said as he drew Yan Xinxin into his arms.
And what delighted him was that this time Yan Xinxin didn’t reject him, nor did she push him away.
"Yuan."
Feeling a rush of joy, Mo Chuxi held her even closer, even more intimately.
"No matter how far the ends of the earth, Brother Xi will never leave you alone."
"You’ve said everything you wanted. Now you can go."
He had barely finished speaking when Yan Xinxin’s cool voice sounded.
He lowered his eyes and saw Yan Xinxin looking up at him. Her gaze wasn’t vacant at all—no different from that of any normal person—but in her eyes there was a strange kind of doubt.
"Yuan, have you already recovered?"
