Episode 19: Dark Side Shadows/Shadows of Darkness

There was a bright blue sky over Elixis, the capital where the bright white Castle of Solomon and the bright black Knights headquarters could be found. White clouds flow busily through the blue. Bells, who left extreme cold Rottervania, were in the airship over Elixis. Soon the airship will arrive in Ship Port.

From now on, Bell embarks on a mission he received from Leon, not from Knights Commander Gregorio. That was one of the most challenging and dangerous missions Bell had ever tried. Besides, there's no one to help him this time around. The only Leon you can count on should be heading to Adford by now.

Giggy...

Arriving at Knights headquarters, Bell just stepped into the captain's office. Before carrying out the mission received from Leon, he must report to Gregorio on the mission at Snow Cliff.

Behind the captain's office, as always, a giant purple flame awaited the bell. This space has the exact same sight whenever you come.

"I'll report on the mission."

Upon entering the room, Bell immediately gave a report on this mission. Having wiped out all the snowmen (Yeti) living in Snow Cliff, the Vinter Chamber of Commerce has successfully obtained the flowers of the moon.

Nothing else could have been told from Bell's mouth. He pretends not to know the real purpose of this mission. Bell never revealed that Leon was there or that there was a battle with John Bruxen.

"Thank you for your hard work. Take a few days off to your next mission. Pay."

"Thank you"

Gregorio treated Belle as usual, behaving as usual. To keep the borough out, not to be suspicious, Bell was trying not to open his mouth on this occasion. He's not good at lying or acting, he's the best at keeping his mouth shut.

"Huh..."

Shortly after leaving the captain's office, Bell sighed heavily, as if to exhale tension. It's easier to feel tired if you don't get used to it. The tension that I have yet to experience hitherto hits Bell.

"Okay, I'll do it..."

Having breathed, Bell left the conversation room immediately. Bell headed up the stairs leading to Ship Port on the roof. Knights at one end cannot enter the second floor. Neither the stairs nor the elevator are connected to the second floor. That's what Leon said.

But why is Bell climbing the stairs?

There was actually more to Leon's story then.

"Neither stairs nor elevators are connected upstairs... to the Knights at one end, it looks that way"

"What? So you're really connected?

"Oh, it's connected. Like I said, it doesn't make any difference that only superiors are allowed in."

The stairs and elevators are not connected to the second floor of HQ. But that's limited to the Knights at one end. Knights of the M-12 can enter the second floor using a hidden passage.

"Where's the entrance upstairs?

"It's on the stairs leading to Ship Port."

"I don't know what that means..."

"Grab my Knights ID and go 72 steps up the stairs. There's an entrance upstairs."

"I've been up the stairs before, but nothing?

Bell had climbed the stairs several times. But there couldn't have been a place where some kind of passage was hidden. I didn't look up the stairs without a neighborhood, but if I remember him correctly, at first glance, there's nothing there.

"You idiot... there's an invisible entrance to the 72nd step. Transform into me, take my Knights ID, and walk towards the wall on the left."

"If you walk against the wall, you're gonna hit the wall, right?

Leon knows more about the structure of the Knights headquarters than Bell, but his explanation only confused Bell. Bell's right, if you walk against the wall, you'll hit the wall.

"Either you explain it to him or you don't get it, you idiot. The wall is literally a“ wall ”for the Knights at one end, but it's just a look for the superiors. You just see the wall, there's no wall there."

"... I don't know, I get it. At the 72nd step of the stairs, you just have to walk towards the wall on the left."

"Ah. That way, we can get through the wall"

Apparently, there's some sort of demonic trick on the 72nd step of the stairs. Anyway, if you impersonate Leon and have Leon's Knights ID, you can get through that wall. Bell also understood that.

Bell, who was recalling such a conversation, just used “real fake” to transform himself into the figure of Leon. Bell remembered what Leon looked like because we spent all the time together until just a few hours ago. Bell's figure after the transformation was perfectly the same as Leon's up to height.

"Oh, the world looks a little bigger."

Bell was a little sarcastic that Leon wasn't here. Bell already wears Leon's Knights ID. All you have to do is go up the stairs to the 72nd step.

While up the stairs, Bell was reflecting on Leon's standing behavior. Transformation is convincing for the first time by becoming that person up to the contents. He was desperate to revisit Leon's roundabout of speech and difficult language.

"... can you really get through this wall?

Less than a few minutes later, Bell had reached the 72nd step of the staircase, where he could enter the second floor by climbing up the stairs to the 72nd step and walking towards the wall on the left. Bell began walking half-heartedly against the wall.

Even if they tell me I can get through the wall, if there's actually a wall in front of me, I'm resistant. Bell was meditating on his eyes as he walked against the wall. As a matter of fact, will this operation work as well as Leon says?

Suh...

Behind that suspicion, Bell sometime rubbed through the 72nd step wall. Sure, Bell rubbed through the wall, but the person at the time hadn't seen the moment. The fear of hitting the wall was causing him to meditate.

"This is the second floor..."

Finally making his way to the second floor of HQ, Bell had been nailed to the sight for some time. Most of the areas Bell had ever set foot in were unified in black, but not here. As far as I can see, the second floor is unified in red.

The floor was covered with a red carpet and the walls were soft wool textiles that seemed pleasant to touch; the talking rooms on the ground floor were wrapped in chic luxury, but the upstairs had a gorgeous atmosphere.

In addition, it is equipped with all kinds of entertainment facilities and training rooms. If you get great, you'll say you're qualified to use all that equipment.

"Oh, it's Dr. Hausent."

When Bell was blinded by the surrounding view, suddenly someone called out. Bell looks back at the voice speaker and confirms the Lord of that voice.

“Who?... I think I've heard some voices..."

Bell didn't recognize the person. However, that voice sounds familiar. Bell had never seen his face, but he had heard his voice, and by the time he was upstairs, it was likely that he was a member of the M-12. If you're a member of the M-12, it's no wonder Bell has someone he's only heard.

It was a woman with thin pink hair who showed up in front of Belle, who looked like Leon. Her hair is cut short and aligned, bouncing boyish.

And those eyes were wild, yellow and glowing. Are you about the same age as Bell or just said a little above? Her Knights outfit, unlike Belle, is red. She's definitely part of the M-12.

"Is that it? That's crazy ~... was Doctor Hausent so silent?

"Hey, hey, there are times when I'm quiet too, huh?

To the bell with her mouth shut all the time, she felt uncomfortable. I've never even seen Bell where Leon is silent. When Bell realized he was suspicious, he behaved like Leon in an aggressive manner.

"Kung Kung...... I knew it was weird. Are you sure this is Doctor Hausent?

"I'm Dr. Leon Hausent. I've been away from the Knights for a while, so maybe the smell has changed."

Suddenly she came smelling her neck, upset by her, but Bell desperately continues to behave as Leon. It doesn't make sense that we find out who we are before we get to the conference room.

Judging a person by her smell, she could have been a black magician (grigori) of the beast (chimera) kind.

"Hmm... so who would Atai be ~?

⁉ ︎

Shortly afterwards, she said so as if to try the bell. Naturally, Belle doesn't know her name. But if you can't name her here, it's possible you'll find out who she is. At this time, Bell desperately retraced his memories in the captain's office.

"That ~? Can't you answer that? You may not really be Doctor Hausent..."

April, you're April.

The woman in front of Bell was sharp. Leon (Bell) suddenly remembered her name as her doubts were turning to certainty when she saw how Leon (Bell) could not answer her name.

April, that's who used to yell at Bell in the captain's office.

"Oh... just the right answer. Yes, Atai is Beatrice April. I'm sorry I tried to imitate you."

"I, the genius, will never forget the name of the M-12."

Beatrice April, nicely named, applauded Leon a little unfortunately. Bell was about to bolt out now, but he hurried and disguised himself as calm as Leon.

"That's right, you know there's an important council now?

"No, it's my first ear. An important council… sounds really intriguing"

Council. That's the number one purpose Bell came here for. It would be convenient for Bell if he cut out the council story from the other side. By this time, Bell's act was on the board. Bell looked just like Leon, to the point of fine rhetoric no longer.

"Gregorio said we would discuss some important matters involving the entire Knights... so why don't you come too?

"But can I join the council?

Here, Beatrice made an unexpected suggestion to Bell. Bell's purpose is to steal and listen to the council's contents. She's trying to get Leon (Bell) to join the council. There is no story this convenient.

"You bet! You're an important technician, aren't you? I think you have enough rights to attend important meetings!

"Now let's try to sweeten your words and join us"

Bell was clapping out. It was assumed that this mission would be more tense, but it wouldn't have been that difficult to begin with. Instead of eavesdropping on the contents of the council, he was allowed to participate in a dignified manner. As Leon expected, this council seems to be going to be quite important to the Knights.

Before long, Bell was led to the conference room. In contrast to the bright and luxurious upstairs aisle, the interior of the meeting room was dim. In the center of a dimly rectangular room, a bright white long desk sits. Behind that 1st, a person sat on his back with a hood that deeply hid his face.

There are already 12 people sitting around the white table. If we put April together, there will be 13 people there, except for Bell. Twelve people, including April, have a face, but only the one sitting in the back of the 1st hid his face. Also, the face of the man sitting next to the figure in the hood was not well seen hiding in the shadows.

"This is Doctor Hausent. Welcome to the Council. This council would be better served by you too. Sit back in your empty seat, please.

"Thank you"

The first person to speak to Leon (Bell) was a mysterious Hood figure. However, as soon as he heard the voice, Bell had an idea of who the person was. Due to his location and his voice, the identity of Hood's figure is Knights Commander Gregorio. Apparently, Gregorio isn't the only “like a monster” you see in the captain's office.

Leon (Bell) sits on an empty seat as Gregorio prompts him. The seat was next to Beatrice April.

"We also have all the M-12. Now we start the council"

Finally, a secret council began that one end of the Knights could never know. Bell was already about to be crushed into this space, surrounded by an indescribably heavy atmosphere.

"This agenda is about Doctor Bruxen and Project Curius."

"Sure enough, Doctor Bruxen developed a magic armor snowman (yeti) with curious applications."

"Exactly, Febrary. Doctor Bruxen completed the Magic Armor Snowman (Yeti) and performed a performance test at Snow Cliff."

As Leon imagines, the agenda is about Doctor Bruxen.

"That's a performance test for Faust, the Black Sarteen. What happened to the results?

"September, the result is Faust's victory. He destroyed all the snowmen (Yeti). Doctor Bruxen, upside down, seems to have been hurt by Faust."

“Why did you find out that Bruxen and I fought... and that you were in pain..."

Gregorio knew what had happened at Snow Cliff until, for some reason, the part where Bell hadn't reported.

And most importantly, Bell was concerned about the phrase, "I took the pain.” Bell did witness the moment when John Bruxen was buried away by Leon's hand.

"So there was a confrontation between Black Sarteen on Snow Mountain... I wanted to see that"

It was the big man known as Oktober who showed interest in the battle between Black Sarteen.

"Is Doctor Bruxen safe?

"Oh, November. He's safe. I'm sure you'll be back on track by now."

“What the hell is going on... ⁉?"

A woman, called Norbember, checks the cheapness of Doctor Bruxen, as she speaks for the voice of Bell's heart.

Doctor Bruxen seems to be perfectly happy now instead of being killed by Leon. Early in the start of the council, Bell was already in disarray.

"The Magic Armor Snowman (Yeti) ended up failing. Based on data from this performance test, Doctor Bruxen is working on the development of even more powerful magic equipment (Magic Armor)."

"That's reliable. The Knights are also cheap once Black Sartain has completed his magic armor."

Demonic Gear (Magic Armor) Snowman (Yeti) who ended up failing. Doctor Bruxen seems to be involved in developing new weapons, but why does the Knights need such a powerful weapon?

"Now let's move on to the next agenda. The next item on the agenda concerns the treatment of technician Doctor Leon Hausent. It is also connected to the first agenda. Let's start with Maximilian Weskerman reporting on this mission."

"I'm Maximilian Weskerman. In this Snowman (Yeti) performance test, we monitored Faust."

“Come on, what's going on?"

Here, something unexpected happens to Bell. The next agenda is Leon Hausent. That meant that what happened on Snow Mountain had been passed on to the Coarse Knights. Forgetting that he was transformed into Leon, Bell's face was in a hurry.

"Initially, Faust had a good fight with the snowman (Yeti), as we planned. But before we climbed Snow Cliff, our unexpected collaborators showed up."

"Collaborators...? Who the hell is that?

And a true report by Max on this mission begins. Leon was right, he wasn't Bell's Buddy, he was just a watchman. It is still a mystery why he was able to monitor the movements of the Bells while bringing the Vinters back to the village.

"Who is that collaborator… this is Doctor Leon Hausent who is there. He saved Faust, who was in distress, and did harm to Doctor Bruxen."

When Max reveals who the “Black Savior” is, a twist runs into the conference room. With that in mind, the gaze of everyone in the conference room was directed at Leon (Bell).

"And Doctor Hausent gave Faust information about the truth about the snowman (Yeti) and his presence on the second floor of the Knights headquarters. He has doubts about the Knights. And he's obviously up to something bad. Doctor Hausent is exploring the opportunity to flip the anti-flag to the Knights. You can't just leave him out of the wild."

Watchdog Max also knew most of what Bell and Leon were talking about at the Vinter Chamber of Commerce headquarters.

But he thinks it's Leon who's here now. Max must have missed the heart of Leon's operation.

“How does Max know all of this? It doesn't make any sense to kick him out!"

"That's what brought you here. Hepei."

At the end of the report by Max, April, sitting next to Leon (Bell), gave his tongue a prank grin. Leon was brought here to be judged. Bell has fallen prey to enemy maneuvers.

"I didn't know Genius Dr. Hausent was going to be such a fool... I guess we'll have to punish him for something"

"Doctor Hausent, I'm disappointed in you."

M-12, gathered in the conference room, verbally condemns Leon Hausent. The position of Leon, who has contributed to the Knights no less than Doctor Bruxen, has now become a dangerous one. No longer does Leon's operation end in failure.

"Now raise your hand if you think you should punish Doctor Hausent"

The time for judgment on Leon Hausent was steadily approaching. As it is, Bell will be judged instead of Leon.

"Great… unanimous. I'd rather die for Doctor Hausent if I were you, but I don't want to lose someone as good as him. Instead, as a precept, execute his brother, Jake Hausent. lest he ever teeth against the Knights again..."

“Mr. Jake... will be killed."

The Council opinion was one. He decided Leon Hausent was a danger to the Knights.

But it is also true that we cannot let go of him, a talented man. Instead of Leon, Jake is punished. When he found out Jake's life was being targeted, Bell stood up.

"Today, the executioner is also asked to come"

"It's a pleasure to meet you. The great knights."

As Gregorio urged, one figure emerged from the darkness of the conference room. Its eyes, its teeth and, above all, its voice, were strongly burned on the back of Bell's brain.

"This time Jake Hausent will be executed by Raven Gopher, the demon Belzebub"

"... why⁉"

As the one who executes Jake, it was that Belzebub who showed up in the conference room. This is how the demon who tormented Bell in Adford now reappeared.

It looks just like before, scratchless. There is no more damage left from "Remaining Fire of the Disappearing Stars”. Bell, above all, cannot hide his surprise at the connection between Belzebub and the Knights.

"Heh... a match of interest."

When he saw Leon (Bell), who opened his eyes, Belzebub smiled invincibly. Belzebub, who had ties to the Knights without Bell's knowledge, was about to take revenge on Jake.
