Border Guardian Hal Akircius

Chapter 8: Establishment of the Cilentium Alliance for Urban Initiation

Cilentium Administration and Great Conference Rooms

The large conference room, where the Chiefs of each of the cooperative tribes gathered in Cilentium, was surrounded by tension.

Even if we have ever negotiated individually, we have never met together, Chiefs.

Not to mention this is an important meeting that could determine the future of the tribe.

Invited to that meeting were the tribal chiefs and their equivalents, all of whom sent volunteers at the Battle of Silentium Cage Castle.

Although the table was the chiefs who refused Hal's request for reinforcements, it was not entirely uncooperative, but provided food and information to support the fight from the side.

However, we had declined on the grounds that it was premature for the alliance, but this time we all responded to Hal's renewed call.

Each tribe acknowledged the bravery shown by Hal in the battle of Silentium Cage Castle and his attitude.

The chiefs held each other back before entering the room, trying to find the sincerity of their opponents in an irregular conversation, but they also failed to fulfill it, and they all assembled at short notice.

The border guards who hosted the meeting did not yet appear to have arrived, and the imperial soldiers who led the chiefs to the room turned all the way back at the entrance to the room.

The room, called the Great Conference Room, is decorated with the serene decorations and floats of the Cliffonam preference, but its sophistication showed the high skill of the Empire.

At first it was the chiefs who had hand-held each other in the waiting room with the entrance, but noticed that the door to the adjacent meeting room was open and decided to take a peek at the room for some leisure time.

But seeing what is placed inside that room, the elders will be bewildered.

Sitting in the room is a huge one-board round table.

The spaces are opened in equal parts and wooden chairs are placed, but there are no seating tables or designated tables in particular, and I have also turned back earlier, so naturally there is no guide.

"So what's this?

The first person to raise his bare voice was Gutti, Chief Alpecio, enough to say if he could reach sixty.

Loud in voice and body, he is the best thug chief of the Southern nations who has been a militant since his youth.

"You don't have any particular designation, do you? So..."

Attempting to sit in a nearby chair while saying so is Goosind, the village chief of Heon, a castle of the Armar tribe, but this one is thirty years old with a quiet atmosphere.

"Well, wait, there might be a seat next. Why don't we call someone in charge?

That's what I said while controlling Goosind was Sodersi chief Maldos, who grew a long beard about fifty years old.

"I don't see that rep..."

Saying so and looking around is the Sokanian chief's body.

This one is still a young man in the early twenties.

"Hmm, but it's unfriendly to walk away just to guide you here..."

I tell him to twinkle, the man who grew over forty mustaches is Serwenk, chief of the Argentine tribe.

"So suppose we wait a while!

Having said that, it was Randeles, the chief of the Oran Berefes tribe, who accidentally sat in the chair.

"Hey, it doesn't matter yet!

Gatti complains quickly about Randellés, but Randellés doesn't seem to have gone through it at all with a glimpse.

"Lord!

"Fair enough... because it's a meeting.

Gatty trying to keep complaining, even though Goosind suppresses him.

Body sitting in a nearby chair as he grinned at how it was going.

"Um... well, okay"

Selwenk sits in an equally nearby chair with a twinkle.

"Lord...!

"Gatty, any, let's sit down.

Maldos embarrasses Gatti as he tries to complain to the chiefs who have begun to sit back one after the other.

Disgruntled, but embarrassed, Gatti sat next to Goosind.

"Thank you for waiting, and thank you all for your time.

There Arkiand and Helionel, Hal with Bergan, finally appear and greet Adamantius.

As all the chiefs noted, Arkiando and Helionel, and Adamantius each sat in an empty seat with Bergan, and Hal also sat in the remaining seat in front of them.

"Well, I'll start the meeting... first of all, thank you for the assistance in the earlier battle, thanks to which Cilentium picked up the win and I was able to meet you all here today.

The chiefs are slightly oblivious to the words.

I did provide assistance from the shadows, and I sent a few warriors to volunteers to see how each tribe was doing, but on the contrary, I did nothing more.

It is only the border guards and their soldiers who are speaking in a dazzling manner in front of them that have defeated the strongest army on the Northern Border led by Alford Hero King.

The only thing that makes me laugh is Almar's Alkiando and Goosindo, plus Helionel, but the other Chiefs hardened themselves.

... sarcasm?

I feel like I've been bullied for loathing to stand on the arrow, and the sheikhs who shut up.

In an attempt to read the sincerity of that statement from Hal's face, the chiefs stare desperately at that face, but there is no change in Hal's expression, rather they find each other staring at Hal with a desperate face and are forced to forbid them from laughing bitterly.

Hal looked around at such chiefs and slowly opened his mouth after taking a moment to make sure everyone had settled down.

"So... I'm talking about the alliance you were asking for before the fight, what do you think? Can't you agree to an alliance where Cilentium will be the leader? I won't add any particular conditions... Oh, just one thing, let me set up a branch office for the Western Postal Association.

The chiefs clapped at Hal, who spoke in the same atmosphere as when he had previously visited the village and appealed for assistance, rather than in his own martial arts.

I thought it would put a lot more demands and conditions on my scales.

Cilentium and the Border Guardian Officer had as much strength as it was allowed, and they also showed it in practice.

Not to mention that it is on the chief's side that I am saying no once.

As much as I would like to bring an alliance story here if it were meant to be.

Until now the Empire would have increased the incidental conditions and pressed for the conclusion of an alliance in an intimidating manner.

But this neighborhood protection officer seems different.

I can tell from listening to the treatment of the peoples in Cilentium, but it seems rare to the Imperials to be imprisoned by a sense of discrimination and prejudice against the northern border, which can be seen from the knots attached to the hips.

No matter how much sun clerics are revered in Cliffonam and Oran, it doesn't mean that those who are officials of the Empire will continue to take it very seriously forever.

If you feel like it, you have taken it off at all, and you will say that you are not uncomfortable or repugnant as a barbarian without even fixing it.

"... if that's about it..."

Not that it was easy, but the chiefs nodded as they looked at each other.

There is no particular problem, although the conditions Hull is putting out are considerably easier burdens and the superiority of Cilentium is highlighted in the text, compared to the state in which the Frieds have previously been at the top.

Besides, if you are a border guardian, you will not be forced to plug the challenge on the grounds that you are superior.

"We will now double check on the conditions.

What Hal took out was an alliance pledge blessed by Ellesia.

The terms of the alliance described there

1 Each tribe forms a mutual alliance with Cilentium as its ally

2 Each tribe with which an alliance is formed shall be mutually inviolable, and the dispute shall be arbitrated by the Cilentium

3 Adjacent Alliance Tribes assist each other when attacked by non-allies

4 Nationalities belonging to the Allied tribe have free access to the city of Cilentium

5 Allied tribes provide Cilentium with a certain number of troops

6 The Allied Tribes cooperate in the construction of the streets laid by the Cilentium

7 Cilentium responds to requests to build allied tribes and lay streets

8 Cilentium cooperates in the defensive wars of allied tribes

9 Cilentium dispatches technicians, doctors and other technicians at the request of the Allied Tribes

10 Add representatives of Cilentium and its annexed cities to the leaders of the Allied Tribes and establish regular meetings once a year

11 A branch of the Western Postal Association shall be established in the central village of each tribe

There is no provision for contributions or servitude.

Chiefs looking rarely at alliance pledges.

This alliance pledge imitated what was made in the empire, with the blessing of the Sun God by Erlacia, and a column was set up under the conditions to sign the tribal names and chief names of each tribe.

"King Akircius, the blank space below here, does it not seem like there are many?

When Bergan noticed the number of blanks and asked, Hal replied with a sneer.

"We are still planning to have more allies in the future, so we have more blanks to make.

"Now... Border Guard. Which one are you serious about?

"Yes, I'm going to end up putting this northern border together. Especially, I don't know if it will be an empire..."

When Hal answered Selwenk's question, the chiefs of each tribe were silent.

What are these border guards saying?

You mean putting together the northern border in a way that's independent of the Empire?

"Do you call it semi-independence, fortunately your authority is vague, so I'm going to take the vague form of saying so. Oh, of course, don't worry, all of you who sign today will be honored as" First Allies ”.

To Hal's words, Adamantius, Arkiando, Helionel, and Bergan nodded and signed in some sort of order.

And even as Goosind hesitates to sign.

Other chiefs who had been solidifying for a while, but Gatti returned to me and looked seriously at Hal.

Gatti loosens his expression all the time, hitting his gaze with Hal staring directly in the front.

"Hehe... wahaha, that's funny! Let's try me on the man his Alford admitted to!

That's what Gatty says when she laughs, takes a brutal pen and finishes her thick but surprisingly streamlined signature.

"... I made a promise, I make a promise.

This was followed by Randeles, chief of the Berefes, who forcefully signed under Gatti.

"... I believe in His Highness the Border Guardian, neither Empire nor Cilentium.

He signed as Sodersi chief Maldos said so, followed by words with a smile after Argentine chief Selwenk signed.

"I have not forgotten the gratitude that my people have received, so please continue to do so.

"... well, I hope.

Body of the Sokanian chief signed with few words and all signed.

"Thank you, then myself..."

Finally, when Hal finishes signing into the Alliance Lord's column, a soft light emanates from the pledge and warms up the room.

Then, twitching and dates seeped out in the upper right corner of it, and at the end settled in the same intensity as all signatures.

The light has also turned into something quiet, and now only the letters are floating.

"With this day, the Silentium Alliance has been launched. Stick to your alliance no matter what, and face the difficulties in a spirit of mutual assistance.

To Hal's proclamation, the chiefs nodded vigorously at the same time.

"It's an alliance, and let's make it a banquet... but I'd like to make one before we get drunk, please?

"What is it?

Gatti, the oldest Alpecio chief, told Hull, Hull responded.

"Nothing else, the Great Cleric Erlacia and the Border Guardian. Which is it?

"Huh?

I thought it was a question about the alliance, and they brought it up about Erlacia, and Hal was openly wolfish.

Until then, the mask that played the ruthless politician is off, and the figure of a young man of his age is there.

The eyes of the chiefs gathered around them had completely changed from something serious until then to something interesting, and Hal realized there was no escape route.

"Since coming to Cilentium, which was an abandoned city, the Border Guardian has been acting with Lady Ellesia and has received another knot, can you explain that this is“ I am willing ”? I mean, there's nothing else I can do about it?

"... well, that is.

Gatti, the owner of the giant, took over the word with a serious eye to Hal, who answers in retrospect to the imminent giant.

"We have a little anxiety. That's in response to the Border Guardian saying which one is really prepared to bury a bone in this northern border... which, well, I've just shown you... and still for some reason! Because you won't even be engaged to Lady Ellesia for long! I'll be honest with you! How long are you gonna keep him waiting?

"Huh?

It was Hal who raised his bare voice as he turned red to Gatty's words, but Gatty's words would not stay.

"This is how the people feel! The only reason I won't marry forever is that one day the Border Guardian will return to a distant homeland and abandon the land. So, in front of such a beautiful, one-way Lady Ellesia, she said she would never marry as a leech without boiling it off!

The Chiefs nod at each other.

Hal was shocked by the words, who thought he was trusted by the people who did not know he had such thoughts and who had become a very Cilentium citizen.

"If you're going home, you'll be convinced not to take your daughter-in-law, let alone the poor girl from your hometown who calls you forgiveness, the people and our anxiety will increase, won't you?

Indeed, the road back home, which had been shown before by the maple and had not even thought about it.

I know it can be one of the choices, but no matter what, almost none of Hal will ever make that choice.

Naturally, there were times when I was too busy to spend time on personal matters, but I couldn't stop thinking about El Laicia because I didn't want to erase that option.

But such an unsettled attitude of Hull was visible to the citizens of Cilentium.

Leaving room for the silent Hull, the elders began to talk orally.

"Are you dissatisfied with something? Such a beauty, yes, I wouldn't stay..."

"Sure, and while all that obvious love has been shown, why?

"Though a common son, she is the daughter of Master Alford, and the Grand Cleric of the Temple of the Sun, I don't think there is a shortage.

"Um, if the two are united, the people will also be more supportive of His Highness the Border Guardian, who has a strong bond with the land.

"Indeed, this will also make the Lord Border Guardian a people of Cliffonam.

"People of the North, I'd like you to say again!

It was something I knew the chiefs would agree to... naturally, but Gatti felt better, grinned powerfully at its strong side, and looked at Hal from the front and said.

"We're going to have an alliance signing ceremony in the spring, and we're going to have a marriage to the Border Guardian, right? This is a request from our alliance. Please solidify your feelings firmly by then and obtain the consent of Lady Ellesia!

Gatti's remarks cheered the place up at once, and at the same time the meeting slipped into a banquet once and for all with tons of food and booze being carried.

"Hey, wait a minute!

Leaving room for a hurried hull, the banquet starts instantly and the drunk instantly makes a scene.

"Nobody's listening... it's the guy who says," At the time of the payment of the annual contribution "!

"Predecessor..."

Soon after, when Altrius appeared beside Hull, he said as he put his arms together, Hull looked a little pitiful in the eye.

"It's a good thing, I'm taking care of you scattered, it's time to reward you. Does the Lord not hate you?

"That's... naturally, but I think you're a little rude to her in this way.

'What, it's a good start. If you've got a stomp on it, that's good. I can see the results, but discuss them well. Pray for a good fight!

Hal snorted as he sighed at Altrius' words.
