Border Guardian Hal Akircius

Chapter 10: A Summer and Agriculture Part of the Year in Cilentium (Part 1)

Two weeks after the inspection, the Cilentium East Farm

The seeds of wheat sown in the spring are sprouted and grow well.

Now turn the blue, bright leaves to heaven, in the midst of stretching.

Summer is also coming to the northern border, which is colder than the mainland of the Empire.

What Hal saw ahead of him when he went on an inspection with two men, Sittius and Lurus, was a blue view of a wheat field stretching out on one side.

A glimmer of wind, full of heat and the blue odor of wheat leaves, rushes through where the three stand.

When Hal looked back, he could see the wind making a triangular wave over the sea made of wheat leaves towards the far, far north platform.

Looking at the green earth as far as I can see, my voice hangs from the rear.

"In view of the fact that it is cold, this time we are planting mainly barley, black wheat and oats. Sometimes it took me a while to improve my nursery and I couldn't sow it in the winter, but I didn't grow wheat. Besides, if you don't have to worry about disease and insect damage thanks to the celebrations of the Great Cleric, this year's abundance is like a decision.

Lurus continued his explanation as he jerked off the leaves of nearby wheat.

"We planted black wheat in places that were wetlands in the southwest and close to the northern plateau, and barley in other places. Pasture and oatmeal are beginning to grow in parts of the east and west... but I believe that large-scale livestock production is unnecessary in Cilentium.

"How could that be?

Hal asks questions about Luluz's words.

Many of the tribes of Almar and Theoneus each have one or two cattle and goats.

In addition, many migrants from the Empire have brought chickens, and livestock production is already taking place in Cilentium.

"I don't mind keeping the livestock production on a small scale and individually, but I don't think it is necessary for the administrative department to carry out large-scale livestock production. The reason is that the supply of livestock products and meat is sufficiently covered by the migration from the surrounding area, to make those areas aware of something called the monetary economy and sales network, to improve the production efficiency and production methods associated with it, and to complement the blows suffered by agricultural production that began in earnest with Cilentium... well, there are a lot of them, but I want to make it clear to the local Cliffonam farmers that" you can sell a lot of good things for a good value ”.

It is self-evident that agriculture in other regions cannot be particularly fattened by crop cultivation in the Cilentium, which introduces the latest empire-style farming method, but it is not for the Cliffonam peasants living in villages alone.

On the contrary, if affordable food comes in, the farmers may lose their willingness to produce and work and the village may be devastated.

Fortunately, Cilentium has been slightly delayed in the development of livestock, as many migrants and large livestock have not been brought in as much.

Dairy products such as Cliffonam cheese and butter are also popular within the Empire, but even Cilentium was sold to fly because it is the food that the Cliffonam people of the day like.

Lurus drew attention to this point, and the food itself was intended to produce under the dominance of Cilentium and export surpluses other than consumption and reserves as far as possible to eastern photographs and empires to reduce the impact on Cliffonam rural areas.

That being said, the blows you take from the sudden and recent appearance of something with enormous productivity are not insignificant.

Because prices are levelling objects, if cheap wheat and crops come out in Cilentium, they will be drawn to it and their value will drop in other parts of Cliffonam as well.

Even in the sense of complementing the blows he would suffer in that way, Lurus was trying to encourage the surrounding area to produce livestock and sell it in Cilentium.

The people of Cliffonam are attentive to livestock production, and have long used it as livestock for pigs, goats, cattle, etc.

Duck and chicken breeding is also flourishing, but it is a fact that, until now, the minimum number has been left to be strangled and made into preserved food due to the lack of feed in winter.

However, Lurus intended to improve this point in agricultural production of Cilentium.

"Production of grain that serves as pasture and feed takes place at the initiative of the administration, which sells this at a reasonable price to the surrounding Cliffonams. In that case, the number of livestock increases, the production of livestock products increases, and the price of livestock products themselves is lower due to the availability of cheap feed.

When Lurus concluded so, he approached Hull, who nodded as impressed, and shook his hand all the time.

"I also have no words of gratitude to Lord Akircius for having prepared a place to let my knowledge go to its full extent in this way! Thank you. Thank you! Thank you, Mr Sittius, for listening to your suggestion!

"No... because I owe it to Mr. Lurth's knowledge.

"No thanks, I did what I had to do.

Lurus wrote back as soon as he received an invitation from Sittius to share his findings on the cultivated crops of Cilentium.

Knowing Lurus' knowledge and abilities, Sittius has instructed farmers to sow wheat to be grown on the basis of a proposal by Lurus' letter.

The farmers who showed difficulty in not growing wheat were also convinced by explaining that it was a one-time measure this year: Sitius and Hull.

I felt it when I first shook my hand, but Luluz's hand stood in verse for my age, and on top of being retracted, my nails were completely shrunk and round.

Probably because he touches the soil enthusiastically, strokes the crop, and grips the bamboo.

Sittius coughed openly as Hal, again impressed by that hand, looked seriously at Lurus' hand.

As Hal raised his face, there were luscious eyes nearby, and Hal glanced unexpectedly.

Lurus also rushes away from Hull but without a heart or his face is red.

Sittius spoke with the dossier on his ass looking at Lurus in such a way that Hal saw what he was afraid of.

"We also have stockpiles during the Cage Castle War, so we won't have any food problems for the time being, but we can't wait for the harvest. If you carry it as planned by Secretary of Agriculture Sachs, everyone will be able to secure a surprising amount of wheat in the fall... and then, for the record, the Secretary of Agriculture will literally“ burn ”you from your new wife so you don't get too close to Lord Achillsius.

"Ha, ha... sorry, with"

To Lurus, who scratches his head with a red face, Hal distanced himself with the expression he said after all.

Suburb of Cilentium, Fictor Bee Ranch

The sun has also become quite harsh in the afternoon.

After completing a full inspection of the farm, Hal takes Sittius and Lurus straight to the forest outside Cilentium.

The forest was one of the things that Hal had previously instructed him to leave behind, but it was also a place that took the form of being left naturally because it was a slightly taller hill.

Hal and Lurus are sweating from their foreheads in the strong sun, but Sittius keeps walking flat without a single sweat with the materials in his hands.

"... isn't it hot, Mr. Sittius?

"It's hot.

To Sittius, who answers Hull's question in a tone that does not seem hot at all, Hull and Lurus looked at each other with a soggy look.

Three people who then walk silently without talking to each other.

When we finally get to the foot of the hill after a while, Sittius, who was at the head at some point, speaks to Hal and Luluz behind us.

"Hmm, Lord Akircius, we're here.

At the end of Sittius' gaze, a lettering sign for the Fictor Bee Ranch by hand.

Hal and the others arrived at the new castle of the up-and-coming bee maker Fiktor.

"Oh, this is, uh, you're all welcome... just fine, I'm going to be collecting honey, so take a look.

Wearing a large straw hat, a white handcloth on his neck, and showing up scratching a great sweat, Fiktor breaks his rapport when he sees the three hals he visited.

Fiktor has a bee ranch on the outskirts of Cilentium and has been taking care of bees since spring.

Once returned to a work shed nearby, Fiktor brings a straw hat with a net for three and hands it to each of them.

"My bees are very dear, but sometimes I say, just in case, please wear them.

The three men in the odd hats become indescribable expressions when they see each other, but Fictor began to guide the three as they were, without any attention, to the place where the beehive was installed.

Several nesting boxes of selected bees of the fiction were placed in a square in the woods, close to the work shed.

The bees are flourishing in and out of the nest box, bringing a lot of pollen and honey to the nest.

Fiktor looked lovely at the whole thing and then invited the three of them to the box in his deepest hands.

The honey bees of the fiction are in a manner in which several movable nesting plates are placed in a nesting box, which allows them to be carried out without damaging the nest or bee, in addition to being very convenient for honey collection and internal inspection.

When the fictor takes the lid of the nest box, puts the wood end into the smoking machine with the lid, drops the spark and sets the smoke up, the lid is used to send the smoke into the nest box to quell the bees.

And in anticipation of where the bees grew up, I took one nest plate out of the nest box.

A fictor that gently uses bird feathers from the nest plate to exclude bees.

Finally, using a thin blade to cut off the lid strained over the nest, there was a neat clog of glittery amber glowing honey in it.

The smell of sweetness arose from the drop of the lid.

Seeing that series of handy tasks, Hal and the others raised their admiration.

"Amazing ~"

"Your arms don't seem to be fading.

"Beekeeping is great..."

Fiktor starts talking as he sneers at Hull and his cheers and puts the removed nest plate into a cylindrical container, slowly rotating the handle supplied to separate the honey from the nest plate.

"There hasn't seemed to be as many bees here before, and the honey collection is amazing, no, I didn't know there was still a place like this!

Hal and the others get caught smiling at the full face of the fiction.

That's how I kept turning the handle for a while, Fiktor.

When the separating nesting plates were undone, they avoided the flying bees and invited the three of them to the work shed with separated honey.

"The bees will get their honey back here, so let's get the treasure here.

I found it far more comfortable than it looked when I walked into the work shed with a guide to the fiction.

Though ideas are everywhere to prevent bees from entering, they are basically well ventilated and well organized and placed, such as tools used for work.

Because of the simplicity but also the bedding and household items, Fiktor is apparently awake here.

"I said a minute bee in the summer months, I can't help but notice that bees often split up their families. When this happens, the number of bees will be halved, so the amount of honey collected will be reduced, and the bees themselves will use a lot of honey because they will raise a lot of new children, which is very troublesome.

Noticing Hal watching the sleeping table, Fiktor laughed and said, offering a small bowl of freshly removed honey in front of the three of them.

Of course it has a spoon on it.

"That said, you have to let the bees bee for minutes to increase the bee herd, so well, you won't be able to collect that much honey this year.

Go ahead and hal mouthing honey as you can move on from fiction.

"Yummy...!

The instant I put it in my mouth, thick and aromatic sweetness spreads all over my mouth, slightly dull with thick honey with a spoon.

Lurus also has a spoon in his mouth with a lucid look on his face.

Fiktor broke up again as he watched how it went.

"You must be, you must be... oh, does Master Sittius take his place?

"What?"

Surprised by Fiktor's words. When Hal looked at Sittius, Sittius was silently about to offer a small bowl to Fiktor.

"... you haven't had eyes for sweet things for a long time, especially Mr. Fiktor's honey, which is intensely aromatic, thick and tongue-tasting.

He so fiercely awarded Fiktor's honey with an extremely flat face, and lay down the question with a face that Fiktor even naturally said to Sittius, who pushed Hal and Lurus stunner.

"I'm sorry for the compliment, how much will you have today?

"Right... it's been a long time, and I wonder if I could get a can for now. Payment in silver?

"Good morning, but let's get it ready quickly.

It was Hal and Lurus with a stunning view of the fiction of the smile face and Sittius, who remained on the top of the Buddha but seemed to have no heart or pleasure.
