Boundary Labyrinth and the Foreign Magician

416 Duke's house, in a separate residence.

Head to the Duke of Driscoll residence in the Central District. They've already heard from Prince Josiah, and we see soldiers patrolling the perimeter of the mansion. Though slightly different from Termwilds soldiers, the armor seems to be designed differently. I mean, it must be the soldiers who have accompanied us from the Duke's land.

"Excuse me, I'm here with an introduction from Master Clark"

And, talk to the gatekeeper and show him the references.

"Do you mind if I ask your name?

The soldier who took the letter of introduction checked Clark's name on the note and then asked for my name.

"My name is Matthius"

Named that, the soldier smiled and returned a note.

"Yeah. I hear from Master Clark that I'm going to hire you new. Actually, there was a disturbance in the city, and it had a little bit of a vibe. You could get involved in that and possibly feel unpleasant... well, forgive me there. It's like the duty of someone hired at a grand nobleman's mansion."

That's what he said and opened the gate for me.

In short, if I hire you, the story will flow, or if the background check gets tough and people may ask me a lot about digging for rootstocks, but it's not your fault, so don't worry about it.

"Proceed to the back of the garden and it's the main entrance. But it's customary for servants to turn at will. If you go down the cobblestone path, you can detour to the right, so turn around for me. There are guards in the yard too, but we should be talking. If anyone sees you, just show them the letter of introduction to Clark and explain it, just like I did."

"Thank you for your kindness."

"Oh. Good luck with that."

When I thanked him, he laughed and dropped me off.

Cross the maintained garden, bypassing the road along the way and turning onto the dojo.

There were certainly soldiers patrolling the garden, but I wondered if it was because of the grand entry through the main gate that I couldn't get a voice. The other side returns a gentle thank you when the meeting is held. Yeah. The discipline of the soldiers seems good.

"You..."

And I was accidentally called out. Turning in the direction of his voice, there was a man in good shape with glasses. How old are you... in your mid-20s?

"A face I wouldn't look at, but was he a servant of this mansion? What are you doing here?

"This is disrespectful. My name is Matius. Well, I promised Clark an interview. The servant asked me to turn around."

"Oh. Did you? The unfamiliar boy is dressed as a servant. They had a noise in the city, and they were getting a little nervous. I was still walking in the garden with distractions."

"The gatekeeper said there were disturbances, so he might be able to speak up."

"Right. I'm Leslie Driscoll. If they ever hire you, they'll look at each other again."

"Was this the Duke of Driscoll's house?"

Leslie - Driscoll. This man...

As I was asking, someone who speaks in a quiet tone.

Quiet and peaceful. If you say it's inconspicuous, and based on Vanessa's assessment that she hasn't shown the truth, maybe you can say it is.

Either way, it's the first time I've met him, and I can't possibly tell by all the exchanges he's had. All I know now... is that the magic is pretty high. Sorcerer, huh?

Well... it's not nice to be on guard right now. I can't even be too serious and observant. I decided to pay my respects and go on my own. Leslie nods quietly and drops me off without saying anything either.

I went around the mansion and got to the front of the maneuver... knocking and a servant showed up from inside.

"Oh. Not the servant of this mansion...... right? What can I do for you?

"My name is Matius. I came here with an introduction from Master Clark."

When I answered that, the servant nodded as he was convinced, "Oh," and sent me through to the reception room.

"Please wait a moment. There was a disturbance in the city and my husband was present for the interview."

... I see. Let's go backwards and finish the meeting with me.

"Yes, thank you"

Answered, the servant made tea and left the room.

I'll have a magical trick in the room or I'll look around every corner with my one-eyed glasses and check for eavesdropping and stuff first...... but somehow I've discovered that there are demonic props for sale at the Labyrinth Chamber of Commerce.

... Does that mean I came to Termwilds and bought it at the Labyrinth Chamber of Commerce quickly? There seems to be nothing unnatural about this, although there is a magical reaction from the incorporation of demonic stones... it will be ok about this.

That's how a guy in his room about his age in his mid-30s came with Clark after waiting for a while.

Long skinny body. Droopy eyes and confident looking face. Tidy moustache.

The clothes were quite... formal but I had a flashy impression with the use of colour. It is a noble garment with embroidery in the glossy fabric of wine red.

"Ya, I'm sorry I made you wait. I keep putting in a little bit. Nice to meet you, Owen-Driscol."

That's what the Duke of Driscoll says and he smiles lovingly, offering his right hand.

The way the expression is made and spoken is something that is likely to have a light atmosphere, but I have the impression that it is just as sophisticated as a grand aristocrat.

Am I supposed to say it's about the middle of thin and loving? Flashy colors also seem to be on the board. With the impression of heaviness, solidity and robustness, Grand Duke Devonis would be the opposite pole in many ways.

Before answering, first make sure that the soundproofing magic prevents speech from leaking outside the room.

"No. I'll be the first to see you, Duke of Driscoll. I'm Theodor-Gartner. Now, call me Mathius."

He removed the gloves and exposed the ring for disguise before responding to the Duke's handshake.

Shaking hands, the Duke lowers his head with a nostalgic grin back to something serious.

"I apologize for causing this mess to annoy the Ambassador. And... I want to thank you for helping my son and my daughter, Clark and the others in their plight."

"- Indeed. I have received that word."

When I nod, the Duke looks up and sits on his chair with a strange face. Clark pours a carbonated beverage and brings it in, placing the cup in front of the Duke.... There seems to be no doubt about the information that I like rare and new things.

"I'm sorry. I would have liked to have had a brighter conversation with you."

And the Duke, who had a serious look on his face, said in a joking tone to remove the power of his shoulders.

"Well... after all those stories have been resolved,"

Answering that, the Duke nods and returns the nostalgic grin to something serious again.

The bright topic is the one Prince Josiah told me about before. He wants to make connections with me.

As for the Duke of Driscoll...... if it's true, maybe he wanted to talk more merchant than noble with me, but he wouldn't even be able to talk about that in this situation.

He seems to be all sorts of solemn because he is serious about reconciling with the Grand Duke. That's why there was no objection either to my proposal to infiltrate here.

"I also hear a lot from Oscar and Vanessa and Clark about this one. In time to build on the situation... someone from this faction must still be here"

And, the Duke closes his eyes and shakes his neck to the side.

"Do you have any idea? Vanessa seemed to have something caught on..."

"... no, I'm ashamed. But... maybe he's resentful because he's my brother."

If Vanessa's story is true, it also means Leslie has dark feelings for the Duke. Whether Leslie is not involved in the case or not. Although there would be a difference between it being temporary or not.

Leslie - Driscoll. I wonder if you're familiar with magic.

"Can he handle magic?

"You were told the magic was high. That said, it is not uncommon in the Duke's and Grand Duke's houses. I'm something similar, and so will Oscar and Vanessa. When you ask me if I was learning in my personal life, I can't answer. Since we've been lords to each other, there's a part of us that we can't really grasp."

Because you're a relative of the Verdogal royal family...... Do you think it won't leak? Indeed, the magic of the Duke of Driscoll is also high as far as monoculars show.

"But I know where Leslie was going. The Duke's family has an old castle rather than a villa built by a famous ancestor on an island in the western sea. That old castle sounds like an old favorite."

In that word, I stopped the floating teacup.

of Verdogal - and it has been a castle of old times.

It's... I don't know what it is. Given the poor nature of the Book of Demons kept in the Royal Castle Theorem, it is not surprising that there is an equivalent.

Could it be that, huh? You think you went thriving on magical research, moved it out because the research results took shape, or you found something dangerous, and you were inspired by it?

In fact, the magic power of Leslie I saw in the garden earlier was considerable. It is not premature to gauge your prowess as a magician just because of the amount of magic you have in a normal state... but it would definitely be better than the Duke. I may have a hidden ball, and its nature is unknown. I can't say much at the moment, but you should just be on guard.
