Chapter 907 - 475: You Really Need to Feel Pain
"Pain, you should really feel it." Joshua Hughes looked at her, as if speaking to a stranger, his tone cold.
"Why didn’t you think about the pain Avery felt when you bullied her?" Joshua’s eyes were filled with a deepening red, wishing Evelyn Yates would suffer more.
Avery Jane hasn’t awakened yet, everything remains uncertain; his heart is suspended, neither up nor down.
"Five minutes left. Think clearly, otherwise your sister might have to give birth by herself. Or perhaps you want to be a doctor to help her?" Joshua’s profound gaze pierced through Brian Yates like a blade stained with blood.
Brian sat there in a daze, realizing why he couldn’t have Avery Jane—his family had forced her into Joshua’s arms; he should have known all along but had been avoiding it.
Karma, this must be karma.......
"I accept your terms." Brian’s eyes were filled with despair. The Yates Family had fallen, and they once aimed to rely on Joshua Hughes to rise again, to reclaim their past glory, but it was all in vain. Although there was brief splendor, it was but an illusion, a mere reflection.
Now, the Yates Family was in ruins; Avery Jane had been taken by Joshua Hughes, Evelyn Yates was lost in vain, and his father was hospitalized, possibly never waking again. The Yates Family had declared bankruptcy, and he might not even afford his father’s hospital bills. Brian chuckled softly: "Will you treat her well? Will you?"
Joshua glanced at him and didn’t reply. How he treated her didn’t need to be told to anyone, nor did he need to assure anyone.
:"Watch him until he finishes his call. If he says anything he shouldn’t, have the hospital stop Arthur Yates’ ventilator and drugs. Throw him onto the streets for me." Joshua said mildly, signaling the bodyguards to escort Evelyn Yates out to find a doctor.
How did he end up relying on someone he detested, someone who took his dream woman to pay his father’s medical bills? After hearing Joshua’s words, Brian collapsed to the ground, his face ashen, unable to speak for a long time.......

Sunlight filtered through the window, casting onto the woman in bed whose long eyelashes fluttered slightly. She didn’t know how long she had slept; she just felt lethargic and did not want to wake up. On the beige sofa near the bed, a tall and robust man sat with his eyes tightly shut, thick lashes shielding those profound and enchanting eyes, a prominent nose, thin and sensual lips; his tie loosened, two buttons undone, he seemed weary.
Avery Jane looked at him; on the table was a photo that felt both familiar and foreign. That man wasn’t him, the one she relied on was not Joshua Hughes. Who was this person? Was he her first love? She appeared so young in the photo. She reached out to pick up the photo again, the thin card seeming cursed, causing her mind to become chaotic, as if her head was about to start aching again.
Voices came from a distant place, as if from outer space, warm and gentle, calling: Avery, Avery.......
That wasn’t Joshua Hughes’ voice; his voice was deep and magnetic, intoxicating like the finest whiskey.
Avery Jane covered the photo, noticing a phone number clearly written on the back. Was it this person’s number? Was he her boyfriend from the past? Had he come looking for her? The photo threw Avery Jane’s thoughts into turmoil, unsure whether to dial the number, but what would Joshua Hughes think? Did he know of this person’s existence? What was her past with this person?
The morning air was still cool; Avery Jane climbed out of bed shivering unconsciously, hugged the quilt, and gently walked to Joshua Hughes, slowly sitting beside him, the white quilt covering them both.
Joshua had been awake since she began moving; he just dared not open his eyes, afraid to face her. From his slit eyes, he watched her stare at the photo in a trance, then cover it up. When she struggled to carry a quilt towards him, he confirmed Avery Jane hadn’t regained her past memories, his heart celebrating; only heaven knew how relieved he felt at this moment.
She covered him with the quilt and sat beside him, her long lashes fluttering as if pondering something, her teeth gently biting her lips, which hadn’t yet regained their original vibrant red, just a faint watery hue. What was she thinking? But he didn’t want to wake up; this feeling was wonderful—even without passionate love affairs, merely being under a quilt with her sitting there quietly—the feeling was wonderful......
Sunshine gradually shone in from outside, warm, illuminating her little face. Her fair skin was like milk; his Avery never needed to paint her face, untouched by cosmetics, she was already stunningly beautiful.
She pondered for a long time, unable to resist reaching towards his pocket, her small hand gently exploring......
She fumbled for a while before slowly pulling out his phone. Joshua covertly gasped, afraid she’d find out; he couldn’t guarantee any particular situation would arise if she continued. Thankfully, the hospital quilt was thick, covering changes in his body, making them less noticeable.
Avery Jane couldn’t resist dialing that number.
