Chapter 924 - 483: The Secret Is About to Be Exposed
Postpartum Recovery Center
A top-tier nursing room, the air is good, and the room is large; there are two beds in the room, one big and one single bed for accompanying family members. The standard scientific postpartum meals haven’t really restored Evelyn’s complexion to any significant degree of health.
"Evelyn, how can you not want to eat anything? You need to quickly seize Luis’s heart now. While he’s agreed to marry you, hurry and do more for yourself. Men of the Hughes Family are no good." Harper looked at Evelyn’s pale complexion, as if after having a child, all her energy had been taken away by the little baby, making her look like a flower deprived of soil and water.
"Mom, let me be quiet for a moment," Evelyn said softly, staring at the air blankly.
"How can you be quiet? I’ve promised to fully cooperate with Luis to ruin Joshua, only then can Luis successfully take over the Hughes Clan, and our Yates Family might have a chance to rise again. Your brother can return." Thinking of her son being banished to such a distant place, Harper felt heart-wrenching pain.
"Mom, if you’re not confident, don’t act recklessly; Joshua is not as easy to deal with as you imagine." Evelyn actually hadn’t interacted much with Joshua, only a few times, but she could sense from this man a strong, domineering, and unchallengable power.
It’s something that the shadowy Luis could never possess or match, which is why her heart remains solely attached to Joshua.
"Not just Joshua, this time we have to ruin Avery Jane along with him. I want to see how she has any face to stand by Joshua’s side." Harper gritted her teeth with hatred at the mention of Avery. If it weren’t for Avery’s scheming, how could Evelyn have ended up with Luis?
"Mom, what have you done to Avery Jane?" Evelyn’s dull gaze suddenly woke up. She had learned enough lessons to know that she couldn’t casually target Avery now. That’s Joshua’s forbidden zone; touching Avery would bring trouble upon herself.
Others may not understand this, but from her personal experience, it’s crystal clear. Joshua initially let Luis sleep with her because it’s obvious he only wants Avery. Does her mother still not see this? If they provoke Joshua, they’d truly be asking for trouble.
"Don’t worry, I didn’t go after her or hit her; I’ve just made her past known to the public. I want her to feel ashamed, not daring to cling to Joshua anymore." Harper smiled triumphantly but was a bit puzzled; normally, such matters should spread quickly and become the focus of everyone’s conversation, but there doesn’t seem to be a significant reaction. Is the public uninterested in such elite scandals?
Anyway, what her daughter can’t have can’t be left to that woman either.
"You’ve really overthought it, Madam Yates. I like her clinging to me." Right then, the postpartum recovery center’s door opened, and a man’s voice, cold and murderous, filled the air.
Joshua Hughes’s elegant figure walked in, glancing around the room, "Isn’t Luis here?"
Evelyn looked at Joshua; he was still as captivating, but his eyes held a savage and bloodthirsty gleam. She shivered, feeling a chill without reason.
Something must be about to happen.
"What are you here for? Our Evelyn has already been harmed by your family, and you still have the face to come?" Harper summoned her courage to speak loudly. After all, Evelyn was soon to marry into the Hughes Family, and Evelyn’s child was the future ruler of the Hughes Family; Joshua should have some concerns; he shouldn’t act recklessly.
A dark, inky fog seemed to surround him, unable to dissipate, his vicious eyes brewing a storm: "Do you like talking on TV?"
His cold gaze fixed on Harper, his sharp lips easily spewed this line, making Evelyn feel uneasy. She could even sense danger slowly emerging from the once cozy room. Her hand gripping the blanket trembled suddenly.
"Did you go on TV and say Avery Jane is an ominous person who will harm the Hughes Family?" Joshua’s cold eyes narrowed dangerously for a moment, and when he looked up again, they were filled with intense killing intent. His voice was slow and icy, "Did you say that?"
