"Prepare a document for me and deliver it to the hospital." A hint of gloom lingered in his narrow eyes as he called his personal lawyer.

In the Hughes Family, the eldest son always had certain advantages, so now this child was essentially his weapon. How could he not use it wisely?

The woman on the sickbed was still sleeping. It seemed as though childbirth had drained all her energy; her complexion was pale, like a lifeless doll.

The man with a somber face walked to the bedside, picked up her fingers, pressed them into the ink pad, and then pressed her fingerprints onto several documents. He closed the files and wiped her pale, cold hands clean before placing them back under the blanket, gazing at the woman on the bed without a trace of emotion.

Evelyn weakly opened her eyes and saw the man sitting on a chair not far away.

He was Joshua Hughes’ brother. The man from that night was not Joshua, but him.

They had similar features, yet Joshua’s were more profound and sharp. The man before her was more refined than Joshua but always carried a gloomy aura.

"I won’t give you the child." Evelyn’s gaze was dim. She didn’t know how she should continue living. In fact, no one had visited her so far; the nurse just told her Madam Hughes had paid for her to stay in the best postpartum care center where someone would help her recover. She hadn’t expected Luis Hughes to come to see her.

"I can marry you, but..." Luis said indifferently, and Evelyn’s eyes widened in fear. The longer she listened, the more terrifying it seemed. But did she have any way out? This man, although not like Joshua, could still offer her the life she once had with the Hughes Family. Was she really able to refuse?

Such a material life was impossible to refuse. She lay there dazedly: "I’ll give you today to think about it. Tomorrow you’ll give me your answer. You’re overthinking about the child—I won’t fight you for it." Luis’ indifference made it hard to believe he had just become a father. There was no joy or hope on his face, only a desire to destroy everything coldly and dreadfully.

"I agree." Evelyn lay on the bed, her voice as pale and weak as the bedsheets. It seemed like she didn’t even need to consider it. She needed a wealthy life to satisfy her last bit of vanity, at least not looking so defeated in front of Avery Jane.

When Luis heard her, he didn’t slow his steps to leave. She was indeed a clever woman.

Just two days, only two days, and the entire Hughes Clan had begun to change drastically. The shareholders were already barely able to sit still.

The newspapers and online sources were rife with unfavorable news about Joshua Hughes, while now, where was the strongest support for the Hughes Clan? Insider information clearly pointed out that while the Hughes’ greatest project was underway, the company’s president was taking his new lover on a trip to Sydney.

There were a few accidents in the project; someone even fell from the scaffolding and broke a leg. Joshua Hughes was still unaware, yet it was the usually quiet second son of the Hughes Family, Luis Hughes, who went to visit the workers on behalf of his brother and pleaded with reporters during interviews: "You should go easy on him. Brother has a lot of work stress, and it’s normal to want to relax, so there’s no need to make a fuss."

In front of the cameras, the Hughes’ second young master, portrayed himself as a gentle gentleman, quickly capturing the hearts of many young girls.

Only two days, everything came so unexpectedly.......

"Joshua, don’t you think all of this is not coincidental?" Alexander King didn’t find Nora Thompson; the troublesome girl had flown from Sydney to Washington State again. But he didn’t follow; instead, he returned on Joshua Hughes’ private plane the next day.

"What does it matter if it’s coincidental?" Luis Hughes had been ambitious to take over for quite some time, but this time, it seemed he was serious. The struggle was about to begin, and Joshua’s cells were already eagerly active, hoping that this opponent wouldn’t disappoint him.

"Have you heard the news? He’s actually going to marry Evelyn Yates. Joshua, that’s the woman you abandoned, yet Luis wants to marry her, and it’s going to be a grand wedding. Don’t you think that’s very strange?" Alexander King couldn’t imagine Luis Hughes would lower himself to marry Evelyn Yates. Wasn’t he just clearly picking up Joshua’s leftovers to wear?
