Chapter 63: The Sect Master’s Miscalculation
The Sect Master’s Miscalculation
Louis Redweed slowly lowered the intelligence report.
His sharp eyes narrowed as countless thoughts flashed through his mind.
Something about the Salvatore Family simply didn’t add up.
The information in front of him appeared complete.
Every page was neatly organized.
Every detail seemed reasonable.
Yet the more he studied it, the more a strange sense of unease settled in his heart.
An Astral Manifestation Realm cultivator.
A little more than a dozen Celestial Gate Realm experts.
The remainder were insignificant in comparison.
On paper...
The Salvatore Family should have been no threat whatsoever.
And yet...
The Sixth Elder had vanished without a trace.
Not even his soul had returned.
After several moments of silence, Louis slowly leaned back against his throne.
Then a faint sneer spread across his face.
"So that’s how it is..."
His voice echoed softly through the grand hall.
"The Salvatore Family possesses a rather extraordinary genius."
He lightly tapped the intelligence report.
"This Victor..."
"He may only be in the Astral Manifestation Realm, but the Sword Intent he comprehended possesses astonishing offensive power."
"He likely relied upon that single heaven-defying technique to catch the Sixth Elder completely off guard."
His eyes flashed with cold confidence.
"The Sixth Elder was never known for frontal combat."
"His greatest strength was concealment."
"If he underestimated his opponent..."
"Being killed by surprise isn’t impossible."
Louis slowly closed the report.
The final trace of doubt in his heart gradually disappeared.
After all...
No matter how monstrous a genius might be...
Cultivation realms still represented an enormous gap.
An Astral Manifestation Realm cultivator could never truly contend against multiple Heavenly Genesis Realm experts working together.
At least...
That was what Louis firmly believed.
A cruel smile appeared on his lips.
"This time..."
"It won’t be just one elder."
"Several Heavenly Genesis Realm elders will move together."
"No matter how extraordinary Victor’s Sword Intent may be..."
"It won’t save him."
His finger moved to another section of the report.
One section of the report immediately drew Louis Redweed’s attention.
His gaze turned and paused.
"Nux Salvatore..."
A thoughtful expression appeared on his face.
"This young man walks an unusual path."
"He tempers himself through endless slaughter."
"The more life-and-death battles he experiences..."
"...the stronger he becomes."
"Such a cultivation path is cruel, but its potential is extraordinary."
Louis slowly nodded before turning to the next name.
Then his eyes narrowed.
"Damien Salvatore..."
A slow smile spread across his face.
"A thirteen-year-old who has already comprehended Sword Intent."
"Interesting..."
He chuckled quietly.
"The Sword Emperor elders from several great sects have already taken interest in him."
"The Stormpeak Sword Sect."
"The Azure Edge Sword Palace."
"The Evergreen Sword Pavilion."
"They all intend to recruit the boy."
"Fortunately..."
"They’ve only expressed interest."
"They haven’t formally accepted him."
"They haven’t dispatched official envoys."
"That means..."
"There is still time."
His smile gradually became sinister.
"If this boy is allowed to continue growing..."
"He may one day become a Sword Emperor whose name echoes throughout the Celestial Dawn Empire."
"As for Nux Salvatore..."
"He is a different kind of monster."
"One grows stronger through enlightenment."
"The other grows stronger through slaughter."
"If both are allowed to mature..."
"The Salvatore Family will become a force capable of shaking the entire empire."
His smile gradually turned cold.
"Unfortunately..."
"They won’t be given that opportunity."
"We simply need to move faster."
"Kill everyone before those sects arrive."
"Once every witness is dead..."
"There will be no evidence."
"There will be no loose ends."
The hall grew noticeably colder.
Crimson blood energy slowly spiraled around Louis’ fingers like living serpents.
An excited glimmer appeared in his eyes.
"Personally destroying a genius..."
He laughed softly.
"That feeling never grows old."
Recently...
Everything had been going exactly as he wished.
Several promising disciples had emerged within the Crimson Abyss Sect.
The upcoming Heavenly Secret Realm promised tremendous opportunities.
Even better...
He had recently acquired a particularly useful pawn.
Thinking of Nellie Whitecliff, Louis’ smile widened.
"That foolish girl..."
"She believes she’s using the Crimson Abyss Sect to eliminate her unwanted fiancé."
His laughter echoed through the hall.
"What she doesn’t realize..."
"Is that she’s merely another pawn."
"When she’s no longer useful..."
"The Whitecliff Family will disappear as well."
"Only then..."
"Will this game truly be complete."
He slowly rose from the sect master’s throne.
His crimson robes fluttered despite the still air.
His gaze swept across the kneeling disciple.
"Where are the elders?"
The disciple immediately replied,
"Reporting to Sect Master."
"As instructed..."
"Several elders have already reached Aurelia City."
"They’re waiting for your command."
"Excellent."
Louis’ eyes gleamed with killing intent.
"Send my order."
The disciple immediately lowered his head.
"Yes, Sect Master."
Louis’ voice rang through the great hall with unquestionable authority.
"Tell them..."
"...move immediately."
He took one step forward.
In an instant, terrifying blood energy erupted from his body.
The hall trembled violently.
A sea of crimson mist swallowed his figure.
His cold laughter lingered long after he vanished.
"Even a lion..."
"...must use its full strength to catch a rabbit."
"The Heavenly Secret Realm will soon open."
"I refuse to allow even the smallest variable to exist."
With that...
The crimson mist streaked across the sky toward Aurelia City at astonishing speed.
At almost the same moment...
Several black-robed figures hidden throughout Aurelia City simultaneously opened their eyes.
A transmission from Louis Redweed had arrived.
