Chapter 215

Alex slowed the car as they approached the entrance. One of the security guards, a tall well-built man around his mid thirties, stepped forward, and immediately recognized the luxury vehicle.

It was the personal ride of his boss, which meant the boss himself had come.

Without asking any questions, he pressed a button and soon after the massive gates slowly rose open on their own, letting the car drive through.

The guards watched the vehicle disappear into the estate, unaware that the very car passing through this gate would soon become the harbinger of carnage.

The car continued along the long driveway before finally coming to a slow stop in front of the main residence. Alex looked through the windshield and spotted a pretty middle-aged woman standing nearby.

Draped in a snow white fox shawl around her neck and decked in fashionable designer clothes, she exuded that air of a wealthy woman. Especially paired with the two towering bodyguards standing beside her as she waited impatiently.

Looking closely, she appeared to be complaining about something, and from the expression on her face, she was clearly annoyed.

"So you finally decided to come back home. I’ve been missing you all day, and you couldn’t even bother to call me..."

Her words suddenly came to an abrupt halt the exact second Alex stepped down from the car.

The woman briefly examined him with a wary look in her sharp eyes. After all, he was dressed entirely in black, with his clothing riddled with tiny bullet holes. But there were no bruises whatsoever on his skin. Then there was a fearsome matte-black skull mask covering his face, with black, bottomless pits where the eyes should have been and a jagged set of demonic teeth forming a terrifying grin.

Anybody in her stead would probably be scared witless. The woman’s guard seemed to go up by the second the more she stared at him. As for the two bodyguards beside her, they immediately grew tense. Silently reaching for their pockets in case things went south.

Alex slowly closed the driver’s door and stood there in silence. The woman stared at the strange masked man for several more seconds before her expression finally changed from confusion and wariness to fear.

"Who are you...? And what are you doing in my husband’s car?" Her gaze quickly moved toward the vehicle. "And where is my husband Marcus?"

Alex saw the need not to give her any answer. He just remained completely silent, allowing the eerie skull mask to speak for him. The woman waited, expecting some kind of explanation, but none came.

Her uneasiness slowly turned into fear as she glanced between the fearsome man standing not too far away and the vehicle that was most certainly Marcus’s own. She had spent years living around dangerous men like her husband for instance, yet she had never seen someone wear such a frightening mask and exude such a dangerous presence that made her heart tighten all the more.

Even those slightly tiny holes covering his clothes only made the sight more disturbing. Her fingers tightened around the edge of her shawl while her two bodyguards remained alert beside her, watching Alex and waiting for the slightest sign of aggression.

A figure soon stumbled out of the car. And the moment the woman saw who it was, her face immediately drained of all color.

"Marcus?!"

Her husband looked nothing like the powerful and smart man she had been with for years. The present him, in front of her, looked like a mess. His expensive clothes were covered in dirt and blood, his hair was disheveled, and one of his eyes was badly injured. He even had to lean against the side of the car to remain standing because his right leg had been broken.

His expression was unmistakably miserable. Before the woman could process what she was seeing, another person stepped out of the car.

It was Celine, and unlike Marcus, she looked almost untouched. Her black hair remained immaculate, and her cold expression made it immediately obvious that she was not there to play.

In fact, she looked like she was just about ready to begin a massacre.

The woman’s lips parted.

"What happened to you?"

Marcus didn’t answer immediately. Instead, his gaze shifted toward Celine, and fear briefly flashed through his remaining eye.

The two bodyguards standing beside Marcus’s wife immediately understood that their employer had been brought here against his will. Their expressions hardened.

"You bastards!" One of them pulled out his firearm and raised it toward Alex. The other also did the exact same thing, aiming the finish him as quickly as possible and rescue their boss

"Get away from our boss!"

Loud gunshots rang through the estate. The bodyguards continued firing as they charged forward, their faces filled with righteous fury.

Alex didn’t even bother dodging. It was too much of a hassle, so he simply began strolling toward them with his hands in his pockets, and ignored as the bullets struck his body, punching tiny holes through his black clothing. Yet beneath the torn fabric, his pale skin remained completely unharmed.

The two men stared in disbelief, before coming to a sudden realization.

"Y-you are an Awakened?" One of them stammered in a grave tone, already stepping back.

Alex continued walking. The fear made them instinctively fire another barrage of bullets, but the result remained the same. The bullets could not even scratch him.

Then Alex’s figure suddenly disappeared, followed by a deafening sonic boom that erupted across the area. Before either of them could react, Alex had already appeared directly in front of them.

His hands shot forward, with one grabbing the first man’s throat, and the other seizing the other man’s throat.

As their feet dangled off the ground, Alex looked at them through the bottomless eye sockets of his skull mask. And before either of them even had a second to scream, he tightened his fingers and crushed their necks as if they were dry twigs.

Only after their bodies went limp did Alex finally release them, allowing both men to collapse onto the ground. Lifeless.

Marcus’s wife screamed in shock from the brutal scene. "AHHH!" And stumbled backward, with her face filled with horror of how a man had just tanked gunshots without suffering any injuries, and then killed her two trusted bodyguards.

"What do you want?! Why are you attacking our family?!"

Celine stepped forward before Alex could respond.

"Where is Nico Gordon?"

The woman’s expression changed. She looked at Celine with a mixture of horror and confusion.

"Why are you asking about my son?"

Celine’s black eyes remained emotionless.

"Scoff. Because all of you are going to meet the king of hell tonight."

A chill ran down the woman’s spine. Marcus suddenly spoke from the side.

"Just tell them where that stupid brat is! If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be in this situation right now!"

His wife turned toward him in disbelief.

"Marcus, what are you saying?"

"You heard me woman!" Marcus snapped. "Just tell them where he is! And we might be able to survive this!"

Celine’s gaze remained fixed on the woman.

The woman hesitated. She looked like she clearly wanted to refuse. Whatever these people intended to do to Nico, she couldn’t simply hand over her son.

But Celines patience was already running thin. As a minute passed Celine could no longer hold on, and finally moved before the woman could say anything.

And in the next instant, she was standing directly in front of Marcus’s wife. The woman barely had time to react before a black shard of Deathfrost Bloom appeared between Celine’s fingers.

She then pressed its razor-sharp edge against the woman’s pale cheek, and dragged it across her face, causing a deep gash to immediately open across the woman’s cheek.

Blood began running down her skin. And the woman cried out and stumbled backward, clutching her face.

Celine calmly stared at her.

"I won’t ask twice, where is Nico Gordon?" The woman’s entire body trembled. "Or should I aim for those eyes of yours next?"

Her threat was delivered in such a calm voice that it was far more terrifying than a scream.

The woman swallowed hard.

"I... I really don’t know."

Celine’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"This morning, he went out," the woman hurriedly explained. "He was probably going to party with those friends of his. He does that all the time. He hasn’t come back yet."

Celine remained silent. Inside she was feeling a bit disappointed. She had come here because of Nico. Since the bastard was the one who had killed Dawn.

He was the person she truly wanted revenge against. And now, after everything she had gone through, the bastard wasn’t even here.

Celine slowly lowered the Deathfrost Bloom shard. Marcus’s wife continued trembling while blood dripped from her cheek.

"Please... I really don’t know where he is."

Celine didn’t answer. And the heavy silence that descended became increasingly uncomfortable by the minute.

Then, from somewhere beyond the estate gates, a loud honk suddenly echoed through the night.

Everyone turned toward the sound and watched as a blazing red Ferrari came speeding down at a reckless pace, with its bright headlights illuminating the estate as it approached.

The guards at the entrance barely had time to react before the Ferrari swept through the open gates.

Alex’s eyes flashed to Marcus’s wife, and he noticed the way her body trembled slightly. He looked back at the Ferrari and smiled beneath his mask. He was already beginning to figure out who the person driving that Ferrari was.
