"Alright." The old lady said, "It’s rare for the house to be this lively, so the old gentleman and I might as well stay the night too."

While speaking, she went downstairs with Gu An Xi.

Gu An Xi wasn’t a fool; she naturally knew the old lady wanted to have a word with her, so she kept quiet, waiting for the old lady to speak first.

While waiting for the two Bo Family kids, the old lady glanced at Gu An Xi, "Be honest with me, what happened to the two of them? Lin Hua has always been in good health, so what’s with this sudden illness?"

Gu An Xi joked, "You’ll have to ask the big brother himself about that. How would I know? I’m just here for the benefits to see the doctor, so it’s no use asking me, old lady."

The old gentleman chimed in, "She’s got a point."

The old lady gave him a sideways glance.

The old gentleman immediately cowered, shrinking back without a word... he was quite afraid of his wife.

Gu An Xi looked at the situation and secretly smiled, only to be caught by the old lady, "Still daring to laugh? I’m asking you a serious question here. Don’t help them hide things from me, or else when I find out, I’ll skin you alive."

Such a tone and momentum would have scared others away, but Gu An Xi wasn’t afraid. In fact, she was smiling as she replied, "I told you, what would I know? I only know that big brother was up to no good last night which is why Sister Lin Hua caught a chill and got a fever. If you insist it’s a relationship issue, that’s definitely not possible."

This speech annoyed the old lady, and she stared at her for a long moment before saying, "You girl, always mixing truth and lies so people can’t pin you down. Well, I won’t ask anymore. The matters between them as a couple aren’t something Jingyao would appreciate me meddling in too much, but there’s one thing..."

The old lady said softly, "Xiao Yue is really close to his mom."

Gu An Xi seized the moment, "So, has the old lady changed her mind? Do you think it’s better for the child to grow up normally?"

The old lady’s face sank, "What kind of talk is that? Are you saying that being like Jingyao is abnormal?"

Gu An Xi stifled a laugh and said nothing, and the old lady let it slide lightly.

Just then, Bo Xin and Bo An An arrived, greeting the old lady warmly. Both the old gentleman and the old lady liked them, especially the old gentleman who lifted one in each hand and placed them on the dining chairs, "Xiao Yue is eating with his mom first, and then he’ll play with you two later."

The old lady asked Sister Zhang, "Make sure the madam’s meals are light. Someone who’s sick might not have much of an appetite."

Sister Zhang quickly responded, "Don’t worry, old lady. The sir has given proper instructions, we know what to do."

Hearing this, the old lady turned to Gu An Xi, "See, Jingyao isn’t a young boy anymore, but his tenderness towards his wife is no less than the young ones."

Gu An Xi chimed in a few words of agreement, and then they began to eat in a joyful atmosphere. However, the old lady kept asking about how well Lin Hua was eating. Sister Zhang explained in detail, and only then did the old lady feel somewhat relieved. Watching this unfold, Gu An Xi thought that Lin Hua had finally gotten through this, as it seemed the old lady probably wouldn’t interfere with Xiao Yue’s education.

She smiled slightly, quite touched, knowing that Sister Lin Hua had been through a lot these past years. Although she had wealth and status, she was also heavily constrained. Now that the old lady had come to terms, it was for the best.

The old lady was sharp and could see through her thoughts at a glance, then said, "Hmph, don’t pretend to be innocent. Don’t think I can’t see your cunning intentions."

Gu An Xi rubbed her nose, "It’s their matters. The old lady doesn’t scold those involved but takes it out on me, just because I’m good-natured."

The old lady laughed and scolded, "What, I can’t scold you?"

Gu An Xi propped her chin, "It’s not that you can’t scold me. But if you’re dissatisfied with Sister Lin Hua or whatever, you should communicate directly. After all, she’s the wife of big brother; the old lady shouldn’t treat her like an outsider."

After she finished speaking, the old lady stayed silent for a long time before sighing, "Actually, I don’t know what’s happened. Clearly, in the past, I was very fond of her. It’s just that after Xiao Yue was born, differing opinions created a gap."

Gu An Xi patted the back of the old lady’s hand, saying softly, "Sister Lin Hua can understand it too, but everyone has their own principles."

She thought for a moment and added, "She plans to have another child."

The old lady was both surprised and delighted, "Really?"

Privately, the old lady still cherished the idea of having a granddaughter, not for herself but because her son had worked hard all his life, and having more children around him would be nice.

Gu An Xi nodded, "Yes, that’s her plan."

The old lady was extremely pleased, and naturally, the old gentleman was thrilled too.

They both loved children, so they spent the night with the three kids in the other residence, while Gu An Xi stayed with Lin Hua. Lin Hua finally enjoyed some peace. When she saw Gu An Xi come in, she smiled and said, "Being sick is more tiring than usual."

"The old lady cares about you too." Gu An Xi changed into a hoodie pajama and crawled into Lin Hua’s bed.

Lin Hua saw her in her fuzzy attire and laughed, "You’re this grown and still like this stuff. Xichen’s tastes are indeed quite..."

She looked perplexed, while Gu An Xi glanced at herself, "It’s alright, even Uncle likes it."

Lin Hua was silent, secretly thinking Xichen might not be as earnest on the surface.

Gu An Xi, exhausted from a busy day, checked on Lin Hua one more time to make sure there were no problems, then lay down with a small pillow, "Let’s sleep. Everything will be better tomorrow morning."

Lin Hua smiled but couldn’t fall asleep immediately, sending numerous messages to Wang Jingyao, who was overwhelmed with work. As he received Lin Hua’s WeChat, his heart softened, prompting him to quickly reply, "Still not sleeping this late? Are you feeling better?"

"Much better," Lin Hua said while lying sideways, "And you? Are you still busy?"

Wang Jingyao let out a bitter smile, sending back a message, "Won’t be done before three, you get some rest, alright?"

Lin Hua sent an emoji, but Wang Jingyao couldn’t look at it right away as he resumed his meeting swiftly. Wang Jingchuan noticed and guessed that the message was from Lin Hua, which cheered him up a bit.

The issue was urgent; Wang Jingyao stayed for two days before returning to Beicheng, visibly thinner. Once back, he held an urgent meeting in the office and only afterward had the time to go home.

Upon his return, he put down his coat and asked, "Where’s the Madam?"

The servant promptly replied, "Madam’s gone for the rehearsal."

Wang Jingyao then remembered that tomorrow was Lin Hua’s official performance day. He sat on the couch and sipped some tea, "Looks like she’s doing well."

He patted the seat next to him, "She doesn’t even take the time to care for me."

The servant laughed, "Madam waits eagerly for your return every day."

She added mysteriously, "Madam really misses you."

Wang Jingyao felt joyful inside but feigned indifference, "Quite bold to tease Madam."

The servant beamed with joy, "Madam always treats us well and not like subordinates. Naturally, we hope for a blissful relationship between you and Madam."

She hinted, "Miss An Xi had quite a talk with the old lady the other day, seems like she softened up a bit."

Wang Jingyao chuckled, "She does come in handy at critical moments."

He stood up with support from the armrest, "Alright, I’ll go check on Madam."
