Chapter 41: Bread And Butter
Ni Mengxue opened the section, and her pupils dilated with delight.

Just above the interface was a pack combo, in which there was at least 1 pound of butter and 12 breads.
With a grin, she ordered the system: "Buy all 20,000 combination packs! I want to take a loan from the system."

Ni Mengxue took a deep breath and suppressed her rage. Glancing at the time, she realised that there were still 12 hours left before the offer would vanish. Rather than arguing and wasting her time, she could just earn it in one way or another.
With that mindset, she returned to her apartment. Planning to surprise her hubby, she walked in and saw 10 men circling Lu Yucai. In an instant, white rage burnt in her mind, and she rushed over.
"What the fuck are you doing to my hubby..." She shouted and waved her hand; however, the next second she heard Yucai’s voice.
"They are my friends..."
Midway through his sentence, he froze, and so did his friends, who had turned into ice sculptures.
Lu Yucai: "..."
Ni Mengxue: "..."
’May someone fall in life and death situtation and reverse time. I promise not to act so irrationally again!’ She thought, her hands working at an inhuman speed, and the layer of ice covering the 10 men retracted.
Lu Yucai blinked his eyes in surprise. What was going on? How can someone retract their ice element with such ease?
Though the concept of superhumans has been widely accepted, their knowledge was only surface level, resulting in them being unable to retract it at will.
Ni Mengxue, however, came from a technologically advanced era where the concept of elements was taught much more thoroughly, so she didn’t feel any surprise.
"Hello everyone..." She grinned shamelessly like she wasn’t the one who had attacked them first and calmly broke their circle, walking behind Lu Yucai.
"I am Yucai’s wife. Since you all have travelled so far, please have a seat. I will treat you all to a meal."
The few men were amused and agreed. Ni Mengxue gave them a polite smile, her eyes lingering on the few people before she said, "Alright then, I will take my leave first."
Seeing her walking away, Valer coughed and stated, "Boss, we should continue with her discussion later on."
"Alright." Lu Yucai nodded, his expression softening when he looked toward Ni Mengxue. "I will go and help her."
Once he was completely out of their sight, Ling Dong inched near Valer’s ears and said, "Brother Valer, why didn’t you tell us that our boss is so in love with our lady boss? We would have brought some gifts!"
Valer gave a faint glance filled with warning to the young man with brown hair, taller and heavier than his peers, and said, "You are a subordinate, not a guest."
"Aye~ Brother Valer, people like you can never last in corporates. Trust me, a little flattery can increase your bread and butter!" Ling Dong rolled his eyes.
Valer ignored his antics and led everyone to sit on the sofa in the living room.
In the kitchen, Lu Yucai calmly took the apron from Ni Mengxue’s hand and said, "You go and rest; you have just completed your research. You must be tired."
"Hm? It’s alright. I will rest once they leave..." She began, but he looked at her sternly. "Mengxue, don’t make things difficult for yourself."
A smile spread on her face as she winked at him. "What? Will you spank me as a punishment? Daddy~"
She watched with satisfaction as his face slowly turned crimson and he glared at her. Feeling that it was still insufficient, she leaned near his ears and whispered,
"When you watch me with such a hot gaze, I..."
"Mengxue! Go and rest!" Lu Yucai practically whispered and begged.
"Aww... since my husband is asking so nicely, who am I to decline? I will listen to you now... You will listen to me in bed, deal?" She winked at him before walking away.
However, she missed the way Lu Yucai stared at her back.

Ni Mengxue blinked before a sly smile appeared on her face. What to do? She was enjoying these missions too much!

Ling Dong murmured under his breath, "She is way different from what we had assumed her to be."
Lu Yucai’s lips curved into a faint smile. Ni Mengxue didn’t care about the portion of the food; even if he emptied the entire house’s food, she would still smile at him.
However, he wanted to use this opportunity to restore her reputation. Others didn’t know Ling Dong’s secret identity. He was the vice president of the Ying Luo agency.
Even though he was kicked out recently due to certain arguments, his connections remained. As long as he saw Ni Mengxue in good light... everyone’s perception of her would change.
In the apocalypse, reputation was everything. When Ni Mengxue would finally take action against Kong Airou, her improved reputation would benefit her.
After lunch, everyone left. Ni Mengxue, who had fallen asleep, was completely unaware of the schemes of her dear husband. When she woke up, it was already evening.
She quickly exchanged merit points for system points and bought 20,000 packs of bread and butter.
