Chapter 17: Lei Dong
The moment Ni Mengxue disappeared, Cai Shu, her husband, and the passersby who were waiting for good drama were stunned.
Did Ni Mengxue awaken a teleportation superpower or invisibility? Anyhow... it was safe to say that today she broke many people’s expectations.
As the crowd dispersed, Cai Shu stared at Ni Mengxue’s original location and murmured, "How... how did she awaken a power?"
Her primary husband, also the one possessing thunder power, Lei Dong, hugged her and whispered softly, "Baby, I will avenge you! She is just a rat; you shouldn’t let this matter ruin your mood."
Cai Shu shook her head, her eyes slowly turning red. "No... I will have to kill that jinx! If he gains this woman’s favor... what if he comes after us for revenge?"
Lei Dong quickly intervened, "I advise you not to do anything reckless. What if we fail and Ni Mengxue catches us? Then we will be killed before we can take action against her."
"What the fuck are you even talking about? We are talking about Ni Mengxue! A trash who is a good-for-nothing! She would not be able to catch, let alone kill us!" Cai Shu shouted in rage.
Lei Dong’s eyes flickered. Even though his encounter with Ni Mengxue was brief, he was smart enough to realize that she was a killer through and through.
Good for nothing? If they were alone... she might have finished them off!
Not to mention... his instincts, which had helped him become the primary husband in just 4 years, screamed at him to be as far as possible from that woman.
"Baby, how about this..." He leaned near her ears and told her his plan.
Cai Shu’s frantic expression relaxed, and she hugged him. "You are the one who understands me the best! Let’s do it your way!"
Lei Dong stared at Cai Shu, feeling uncertain... her fixation on killing Lu Yucai was... strange. But now that he was tied to her side... he truly had no choice but to help her.
When everyone left, Ni Mengxue appeared back in her previous spot and continued walking toward the entrance.
The guards at the station lecherously stared at her, and some even commented, "This Mengxue seemed to have become pretty now... sigh... I wonder if I can spend one night with her."
Ni Mengxue frowned but acted as if she didn’t hear it.
The Women’s Protection Association would never help her if guards were involved; after all, the guards were powerful superhumans and even had strong backing.
It might seem like a fairy world for many... but even in such a world, the harsh reality doesn’t change.
Once outside, the decaying stench assaulted her nose, making her instinctively take a step back. Her body trembled as the roars of zombies and a wet hissing of steel against human flesh echoed in her ears.
Taking a deep breath, she suppressed her fear and murmured, "Don’t be a coward! You have faced interstellar mutant beasts, insect race, and even extraterrestrial beings!"
Yet it was hard. The real Ni Mengxue’s body was trained to be protected and pampered; how could it withstand such shock?
Ni Mengxue continued striding toward the nearest zombie and prepared herself. "You can do it!"
Whoosh! She quickly sidestepped and watched as a greenish hand bypassed her ears. If she was even a step too late, she might have turned into a zombie by now...
Unsheathing her sword, she swung it in the direction of the zombie. The cold steel chopped off the head from the body, giving her a sense of relief.
But soon she was attacked from behind again. Dodging, she repeated her move, but this time the zombie was smarter and leaned back, avoiding the sword.
Instead, it viciously used its other leg to kick toward her stomach.
Even though her mind reacted faster, her body couldn’t keep up with the command and took a hard hit.
Cough! Cough!
Ni Mengxue coughed up blood, which made the attacking zombie become more excited, and it lunged at her.
’Now.’ She directly kicked him in the stomach and watched him stagger back.
Even after building strength for the past few days... she still couldn’t even compare to a level 2 zombie. It was shameful and depressing at the same time!
Ni Mengxue gritted her teeth and endured the burning pain in her abdomen.
She had underestimated the difference between her mind and this body’s capabilities.
This body was nothing more than an ordinary woman’s body that had never truly experienced combat.
Even if her consciousness could react instantly, her muscles simply couldn’t execute her commands.
"Damn it..."
The Level 2 zombie let out a guttural roar before charging at her once more. Its bloodshot eyes locked onto the fresh blood at the corner of her lips like a starving beast that had finally found prey.
