Chapter 2528 - 2536: Weak Will to Live

Following James Black’s plan, they enjoyed a high-altitude sunrise. The vitality that accompanies a new dawn was tucked away in Jane Sampson’s heart, planted deeply within her soul. Even as the airplane landed, her heart was still beating with the vigor of that vibrant scene.

She knew.

She clearly knew that after the sunrise, today her life would be different.

Knowing that James Black would bring Jane Sampson back, Old Master Black didn’t leave the old mansion that morning. He stayed waiting as the car drove into the courtyard; the Great General was even more excited than Old Master Black.

"Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!"

As soon as Jane Sampson got out of the car, the Great General circled around her excitedly, then leapt towards her, showing just how happy it was.

"Our little lass Jane is back," Old Master Black stood in the doorway, watching the harmonious scene of two people and a dog in the courtyard with a face full of satisfaction.

"Our little lass was wronged yesterday." Father Gingery didn’t dare let Old Master Black go online yesterday, fearing that seeing the online haters’ attacks on Jane Sampson would make Old Master Black faint with anger.

How could one not be angry and heartbroken when their treasured little one is being scolded like that?

"Grandfather, I’m alright, my heart is unbreakable, strong as ever!" Jane Sampson reached out and hugged Old Master Black, "You’re getting on in years, no need to worry so much, be careful not to grow old too quickly~"

"You little lass!" Old Master Black was relieved, "If you can still joke around, you’re really fine. After flying all night, you must be tired? Go back to your room and rest."

After speaking, Old Master Black called to Aunt, "Help Jane with her luggage and take her upstairs to rest. Pour her a glass of milk to help her relax. A glass of milk will make her sleep better."

Hearing this, Jane Sampson released Old Master Black, and James Black gently patted her shoulder, signaling her to head upstairs.

Jane Sampson stepped lightly, chatting away with Aunt as she went upstairs about how mischievous James Black had been last night, dragging her out of her warm quilt at midnight to catch a flight. It was all a deliberate attempt to complain about James Black’s deeds.

That little lass always benefits but still complains about others.

James Black truly had no way to deal with Jane Sampson.

He couldn’t bear to scold her or hit her; now, even if he tried to be stern with her, she could be even more fierce in return.

"Grandfather, is something wrong?" James Black asked after Jane Sampson entered the room. If it wasn’t for something he needed to discuss, Old Master Black wouldn’t have asked Aunt to take Jane upstairs but would have let him accompany Jane instead.

"While you were still on the airplane and hadn’t yet arrived, your aunt called. Early over five o’clock in the morning, Jillian Carter attempted suicide by slitting her wrists in the hospital. Fortunately, the nurse discovered it in time and managed to save her." Old Master Black said, "I heard the wounds were very deep. If the nurse had discovered it a few minutes later, it would have been too late. Though she was saved, she hasn’t woken up yet and seems to have little will to live."

In the past, whenever Jillian Carter cried and shouted about dying, it might have all been an act, but this time, judging by the wounds, she seemed genuinely intent on dying.

James Black wasn’t particularly surprised because Jillian Carter was never especially strong, to begin with, lacking a sufficiently strong inner strength.

Nowadays, the Carter Family clearly intends to abandon her, and Joseph Shaw is also about to divorce her. From being the Carter Family’s miss, she’s about to become someone with nothing left, scorned by all, hence Jillian Carter couldn’t bear such changes, and she wanted to die.
