Chapter 2700 - 2718: Alliance Marriage
"I suspected that Emily Lancaster took it," Yvette Quick said. "I saw Emily standing by the school bulletin board for a long time, totally entranced with it."
"Later, Emily went abroad, so we didn’t pay attention to her. It’s been many years, and we didn’t even know when Emily returned to the country. If it weren’t for the recent Lancaster wood business incident that Amber Edwards stirred up on Twitter, I wouldn’t have known Emily was back," Yvette said, then asked Jane Sampson, "But how did Emily know Amber in Capital Province? Their ages don’t match, one is in the south, the other in the north. How could they have known each other? And how could the Lancaster wood business trust Amber with the contract?"
"Because the Lancaster wood business wants to form an alliance with the Edwards Family. Emily is going to marry Amber’s brother," Jane Sampson explained for Emily.
"An alliance, huh? No wonder," Yvette tutted a few times. "It’s come to this stage where they even trusted Amber with the contract, it seems the alliance is pretty much set, just waiting for the public announcement. But with the recent actions of the Lancaster wood business, this alliance is likely going to falter. Amber’s stir is a major slap in the face to the Lancaster wood business, and their counter is a smaller slap back to Amber."
Yvette smirked mischievously, "They’ll be lucky if the two families don’t start fighting."

"Jane, honestly, if I hadn’t seen today’s Twitter posts about you guys, where Amber specifically tagged Emily, I would have forgotten Emily existed. I’ve almost forgotten that back when James Black was a young man, there was a girl who was secretly in love with him," Yvette reminisced.
"So, striking early isn’t without its benefits. Look how James committed to you early, forcing Kane Forest to quietly leave the country. You secured your place with James early on, making Emily only able to watch and envy from the sidelines," Yvette laughed slyly, "Old Master Black really had an eye for talent, you know?"
"Taking down James Black, whom no woman in the world could conquer, you made him yours, and now that cold man has become your ’little cotton jacket,’" Yvette joked. "Do you have any tips to share with Emily on Twitter?"
"Little cotton jacket?" Jane Sampson burst into laughter. "What kind of metaphor is that? James Black is no little cotton jacket. At best, he’s a vest—half dying from cold when it’s chilly and burning up when it’s hot."
"So, do you think it’s unnecessary?" Yvette couldn’t stop laughing, "Yet your metaphor is strangely accurate, haha."
Jane Sampson ignored Yvette’s teasing, hummed dismissively, and changed the subject.
The two talked for ten plus minutes, hung up the phone, and switched to WhatsAPP, where people in the group were still discussing Emily Lancaster.
So, sometimes never underestimate a man’s ability to gossip.
Jane Sampson put her mobile phone aside without continuing to chat with everyone in the group.
Jane Sampson thought back to memories of James Black as a young man.
To be honest, her impression of James Black at that time was already quite vague.
Those years, she was busy with her own matters, studying and piano, also cautiously trying to win over everyone by her side.
She would often encounter James Black at the Black Family’s home, but when they met, James would merely glance at her without saying much, then head straight to the upper floor.
