Chapter 2514 - 2522: The Child Is Gone
"Alright." Jane Sampson responded, then slowly put away her mobile phone.
She lowered her head.
Her eyes turned red.
"What did Mr. Carter say?" Brooke Black hurriedly asked, "Did he accuse you?"
Jane Sampson shook her head, "Daddy said he trusts me and that the whole family trusts me, telling me not to overthink."
"That’s better." Brooke Black said, "You’ve been on edge all afternoon, worrying that they wouldn’t believe you. Are you truly at ease now?"
"Jane, auntie is telling you—a true family doesn’t need extensive explanations. If someone chooses to believe, they’ll believe you. But if they didn’t trust you from the start, no amount of explaining will convince them otherwise. Such people are merely outsiders, not family."
Brooke Black tenderly stroked Jane Sampson’s head, "You’re sensitive and prone to overthinking; I understand. Look, your daddy and mommy didn’t let you down—they believe you."
Brooke Black guessed that since the incident, Jane Sampson’s constant worry was about receiving a confrontational call from the Carter Family.
After all, the video was filmed too realistically, convincing many people.
At the hospital, Old Sir Carter and Granny Carter were a bit worn out, with James Carter and Joseph Shaw each supporting a senior as they followed Father and Mother Carter into Jillian Carter’s ward.
At this time, Jillian Carter was already awake.
Seeing the people entering through the door, Jillian Carter, looking pale, lay on the sickbed and began to cry.
"Daddy, Mommy, Brother~" Jillian Carter tried to speak but tears came first, reaching out towards Father and Mother Carter, then touched her own belly in agony, "My child is gone, my child is gone, I hate it so much, I hate it so much!"
Father Carter stood at the bedside, reaching out to hold Jillian Carter’s hand, "The child is gone, but there will be more later."
"It’s not this child; this was my first child, Daddy. This was my and Joseph Shaw’s first child!" Jillian Carter yelled, "It was Jane Sampson! It was Jane Sampson who killed my child! Jane Sampson’s jealousy killed my child!"
Jillian Carter cried as she spoke, "I just said a few words to her, told her Viewing Garden was where I played since I was young. I thought she knew it was reserved by Granny. I joked with her, saying Granny particularly loves kids and might give Viewing Garden to my child as a birth gift. I didn’t expect her jealousy to push me; she knew I was pregnant, and she deliberately caused me to lose the child. She feared that once my child was born, Granny would give Viewing Garden to my child."
Jillian Carter’s sobs grew more heartbreaking, "I was wrong; I shouldn’t have joked with her. But how could she be so vicious? How could she take my child’s life because of it? It was my fault, not my child’s fault. If she wanted to vent, she should’ve come at me. Why did she have to kill my child?"
Jillian Carter clutched Father and Mother Carter, speaking with tears, "Daddy, Mommy, he was your grandson too. He was so innocent, not even having the chance to see the world before being killed by Jane Sampson! Daddy, Mommy, what should I do? What can I do? I know, I’ve overshadowed her since birth. I’m willing to give it all back to her; I’m willing to kneel and apologize. But can she give my child back to me?"
