Chapter 2559 - 2567: What Reward
More than an hour later, Jane Sampson arrived at the base entrance. Slipping in quietly to surprise James Black was almost impossible. Jane glanced around near the doorway, hoping she might spot Peter Gingery so he could lead her in, but luck wasn’t on her side.
If she called Peter to have him come out and let her in, many people would find out she was coming to the base, and James would certainly know too. That would be no different from calling James directly to come out and get her.
After thinking it through, Jane took out her mobile phone and called James directly.
Luckily, James wasn’t busy, and he picked up quickly.
"Finished with work?" James thought Jane had finished filming, so he asked, "Did you eat? Want to video call at the hotel after your meal?"
"No video call," Jane chuckled, "James, how about we play a guessing game?"
"What’s the reward for guessing right?" James didn’t sound too interested, "Guess right and we video call tonight?"
"If you guess right, you’ll get your little cutie right away~" Jane said smugly, laughing mischievously while holding her mobile phone, "Guess where I am right now?"
If James couldn’t understand what "get your little cutie right away" meant, then when Jane asked him to guess where she was, if he still couldn’t catch on, he would be a fool.
"Stay there and wait! I’ll be there to pick you up immediately!"
James practically shouted into the phone, and after he spoke, he hung up the call.
The buzzing sound from the phone hinted at how quickly James ended the call.
This was a natural reaction to excitement; it was a shout, but not an angry one. Instead, it was more of an ecstatic shout.
After hanging up, James didn’t run to the base entrance, but with his long strides, very few could easily keep up.
"Jane!"
At the entrance, James immediately spotted Jane’s car parked by the main gate.
"Come out and register first." James waved at Jane, standing by the car waiting for her.
When she opened the car door and got out, James immediately held her hand, his voice filled with joy, "When did you arrive? Book a flight and not tell me in advance? Don’t want me to pick you up at the airport?"
"Guess?" Jane blinked at James.
"Mischievous." James flicked his finger against Jane’s forehead.
After registering, James took the car key from Jane’s hand, sat in the driver’s seat, and only after Jane got in did he start the car and drive inside.
"When you called me, you were already in Capital Province? Did you come back in the morning?" James asked.
Jane didn’t answer, but turned her head to stare intently at James, "Knowing I’m at the base entrance, were you especially excited? It’s only been a few days, and you missed me so much!"
The little miss next to him smiled smugly, and James merely curled his lips without saying anything.
Indeed, while Jane was away filming, James missed her a lot.
This longing was more about worrying for her.
She had just left for filming when the news of Nia’s passing came.
