Chapter 2549 - 2557: Don’t Tell Him

Nina Rice looked at Nia’s pale smiling face, her tears blurring her vision.

"Nia’s gone?" Jane Sampson asked in disbelief.

"She’s gone." Nina wiped away her tears. "The child is gone."

It was all too sudden.

Only a few short minutes.

That suddenness made Jane feel like she’d just had a dream.

A nightmare.

A person’s life really is just a show.

Before the curtain falls, no one knows whether this show is long or short.

You stumble and struggle a few times; everyone wants to get through it, everyone thinks they can get through it.

Nia was far too sensible. The doctors and nurses here were all very familiar with her. When they saw that she had passed away, even they, who were used to life and death, had reddened eye sockets.

"The child is already gone, please accept our condolences." The nurse held up Nia’s mom, who was on the verge of crying herself into a faint, and comforted her. "Look, the child was still smiling when she left. She went very peacefully, she didn’t suffer."

"She’s still so little, she still has so many things she hasn’t finished, so many things she didn’t have time to do~" Nia’s mom just couldn’t believe her daughter had left like this.

Jane stood there holding the mobile phone, not moving for a long, long time, until Coco Edwards walked over and took the mobile phone from her, softly calling her name.

"Jane, don’t be sad." As soon as Coco started to speak, her voice was thick with a stuffy nose.

Coco helped Jane hang up the WhatsAPP video with Nina, then patted Jane. "The meals are getting cold, at least eat a little, or your stomach will feel bad."

Jane shook her head. "I don’t have an appetite."

Then she sat on the chair next to her, staring blankly into space.

Less than one minute later, she moved on her own.

"I’ll at least eat a couple of bites." Jane, like an obedient child, picked up the chopsticks and lowered her head to shovel rice into her mouth. As she ate, tears kept falling.

She had no appetite.

But if she didn’t eat, her body would feel bad.

If she didn’t eat, James Black would worry.

Only, after Jane forced down a few bites of meal, the moment she thought of Nia, she put the chopsticks down again.

"Nia... I still feel like Nia is just in the house recuperating. Sister Grace only told me yesterday that she was looking for a school for Nia." Jane really felt awful inside. "Nia was still so little."

She hadn’t even had time to go back to school, hadn’t had time to go learn piano and dance, and just like that, she suddenly left.

"Yeah, Sister Grace was asking me about your situation, it feels like it only happened yesterday." The whole thing with Jillian Carter framing Jane had always weighed on Sister Grace’s mind. Sister Grace was afraid that asking Jane directly would make her feel worse, so she always found out about Jane’s mood through Coco.

"If you can’t eat, then don’t." Coco took away Jane’s bowl and chopsticks. "If you’re hungry in the afternoon, I’ll go buy you some snacks."

"Don’t tell James Black," Jane said. "If he knows, he’ll worry."

"Mm, I won’t say anything." Coco nodded.

"I’m going to sleep for a bit." Jane climbed into the Bed, grabbed the quilt, and burrowed her whole body into it.

When she was in a bad mood, she liked to lie alone in Bed and wrap herself up tightly.

She’d liked doing that since she was little.

Because then, no one would know she was secretly crying inside.

It was more than four in the afternoon when Nina called Jane again.

"I’ll help Sister Grace handle Nia’s funeral arrangements here," Nina said. "Sister Grace said, for now we won’t publicly announce Nia’s passing in the internet realm. She’s afraid a lot of people will come especially to see Nia off. The weather here has been bad these few days, and if too many people come and something happens on road by any accident, she would feel very guilty."
