Chapter 347 - 345:“Your mother is safe.”
"Hahahahaha.. lord absolute. I look forward to more of your future exploits. I’m sure the whole of the outer fringes will hear your magnificent name soon enough." The old geezer laughed uproariously as we made our way out of the guild building.
"I wonder how long it’ll take lord absolute to be done with this line of quests. Although I personally believe it’s a bit much to take on the entire Abyss Warden requirement quests at the same time. Who am I to speak on the matters of geniuses like yourself."
"This old fucker..." I could feel the throbbing veins in my head as the old man rambled on without end.
I just wanted to go get my missions done you old fuck. What’s all this babbling about?
"Ahhh... forgive my ramblings. You probably believe me a blabber mouth."
"You have no idea."
"Well then. I shall bother you no longer, lord absolute." The old man finally stopped talking as we arrived outside the building.
"I bid you fare..."
"Hmmm?" I stopped listening to his ramblings as a commotion nearby caught my attention.
"Isn’t that?"
My already bland expression slowly turned cold as I confirmed that my eyes were indeed not deceiving me.
"Lord absolute?" The old man’s voice fell on deaf ears as I took a step foward.
"Lord absolute?"
....
.....
"Please... I’ll pay!"
"Just don’t touch my mother!"
"Please..."
The broken words of the abyss walker that had accompanied me here reached my ears, followed by...
"Hahahahahaha....."
My killing intent began bleeding out of me before I could even be bothered to stop it.
"Oyy."
My voice came out calm.
Cold.
I could see their forms freeze in terror. But I didn’t care. All I wanted to understand was..
"What the fuck..."
"...do you think you’re doing..."
"...to my assistant?"
The air seemed to have been sucked out of the area as silence reigned.
"I said..."
BANG!!!
I slapped out.
SPLAT!
".... What the fuck...
.... Do you think...
... you’re doing. To my bloody assistant?"
They taste and smell of blood finally roused the fuckers from their fear as they turned around. Eyes wide in horror.
"Mother... motherfucker... do you... do you know who..."
BANG!!!
Another slap.
SPLAT!
Another blood paste.
"I’ll ask one last time....."
"Stop!!!!"
The one that seemed to be the leader of the rabble yelled.
My cold eyes settled on the purple skinned fuck.
All warmth gone.
"Speak."
.....
.....
"You... do you know what you just did?"
"Wrong answer."
"Wai..."
BANG!!!
Another slap flew out as the remaining three fuckers exploded into blood mist.
Silence reigned as the smell of blood filled the air.
I could feel the horrified stares of the crowd around us but I couldn’t care less.
"You." My cold voice drifted towards the weeping abyss walker still curled up on the floor.
"What the fuck do you think you’re doing?"
"Please.. don’t touch her.. I’ll pay.. I swear, I’ll..."
BANG!!!
My face twisted in utter disgust as I sent a kick flying towards his midsection.
CRASHHHHH!!!
His body collided with a building wall as his bones shattered into dust.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
A bloodcurdling scream burst out of him as the pain finally snapped him out of his despair.
I appeared before his screaming figure.
"Shut. Up."
Silence.
Seeing his squirming yet still compliant form, a sense of satisfaction welled up within me as I bent down.
Pulling him up by the scruff of his neck.
"Restore."
A single word and all the damage he had suffered. The broken arm inflicted by those fuckers. His shattered bones. Everything recovered. Not just recovered, but returned to their most optimal condition.
His pained expression slowly disappeared, yet the pain and sadness in his eyes.. did not.
"Who."
He seemed to have already understood what I meant as the moment I asked..
"Please.. lord outsider.. please.. my mum.. she’s in danger.. they’ll kill her." He broke down into tears once more.
He hadn’t even bothered about his own situation.
"Old man." I asked without looking back.
"Lord Absolute."
"Those fuckers just now. You know who they were."
"I do."
"Who?"
"It might cause you some inconvenience."
"Who?"
"The Kraxis family. There quite influential within the city. Their patriarch is an Abyss warden ranked wanderer."
"I can show you the way to their family manor."
"No need."
Done with my words. Space folded around my figure as both me and the abyss walker in my hands disappeared from the spot.
....
....
"Lord corvak. Was that wise?"
A timid, feminine voice asked as the old abyss walker returned to the guild, a smile on his face.
"Heh. A B-rank mortal capable of slapping a law integration rank veyr to death. Capturing a Calamity-rank Gorath. And now, seemingly well versed enough in the Esoteric Laws of space to be capable of teleporting within a place as chaotic as the abyss?"
The lady, Cardesa, fell silent. The more she listened. The more unreal it felt.
"Hahahahaha... my dear Cardesa. You don’t know just what you got for us did you? If sacrificing a mere Abyss Warden of the Kraxis family earns us the favour of a monster like him, then it’s a bargain."The man laughed in pure excitement as he disappeared into the guild building.
.....
.....
"Fuck this cliché setting, you bastard. I’m not playing that game with you." I couldn’t help cursing the bastard author unconsciously as I looked at the dilapidated and run down building in front me.
"She... she’s inside." The abyss walker had finally gotten a hold of himself. His voice still came out choked, but at least now, he wasn’t a broken mess of emotions.
"Hmm.." I nodded.
"We’ll get to your mother soon enough, but first..." I placed my palm on the walls of the building.
"Restore."
The building shuddered for an instant. Every crack sealed, fractured walls knitted together, collapsed stone rose from the ground, and rotted timber regained its strength as though time itself had been forced to retrace its steps.
"Now. That’s better.." I nodded. Satisfied.
"Let’s go.." turning to the shocked abyss walker before me, I gestured him forward.
"Ahh... yes.. yes.. lord outsider. This way."
He snapped out of his stunned state and stumbled forward.
.....
"Mother! I’m home." He called out quietly as he opened the door only to freeze in shock..
"Wha... How?" His eyes shook violently at the sight.
From the look on his face, it looked like he himself couldn’t believe what he was looking at.
The entire interior of the building had been restored to a flawless state.
"Nothing near as impressive as my hillside mansion, but it’ll do." My unimpressed comment drew the incredulous stare of the abyss walker.
"My lord.. this..."
"Okay. First off. Shut it with this "lord" nonsense. I don’t know how ages work in the abyss but I don’t look that much older than you. So either call me Dante. Or absolute."
...
"Lord absolute...."
"Fuck. Just shut up and lead the way. I don’t have all day."
I massaged my temples as I urged him on.
We moved through the building, the abyss walker’s eyes looking around in constant awe, as we made our way towards the room on the second floor.
"Mom.... Are you awake?" He pushed the door open slightly, calling out in a soft voice.
"Sulvan... my son.." a weak voice responded from behind the door as we both made our way in fully.
"Hmm?" My attention was immediately drawn towards the massive concentration of entropy at the center of the room.
I looked over, and right there. On a bed that had seen better days. Was a wrinkled piece of... something.
It didn’t look like anything that should still be alive.
"Mo... mother..." the abyss walker called out as he approached the.... Woman.
His voice was almost breaking, but I could feel his strength in trying to force the sobs back.
I followed behind him slowly. Eyes focused on the churning mass of entropy.
"Mother...."
"Sulvan.. my son."
"I’m here mother... I’m here..." he almost lost control.
"How... how are you... how.. is your sister.. did you.. make up.. yet?"
"..... we did. Hehehe.. we’re fine now. She apologized for all her hurtful words. You don’t need to worry."
".... Haaa.. then I’m glad... I.. I can rest in peace now.."
"Mother.. no..."
"Don’t cry my son... I can feel it.. it’s been a wonderful life... but.. I have to leave.."
"Mother... no.."
"Alright! Enough of this shit. You’re not going to lay there and force feed me this forceful goodbye nonsense."
"Lord... lord absolute..."
"Shut up." I snapped.
I had already told this bastard I was done with his cliched bullshit. But he still tries to force them on me. Yea, no. Fuck that shit.
I placed my hand on the withering piece of... yea.. I still couldn’t describe what I was seeing.
The mass of entropy churned in revolt. It swirled and tried to infect me as well, but..
"INSOLENT." A single order and the mass fell in line.
"BEGONE." Before I could even complete the words, the mass had already started dissipating. And before long. It was gone.
The room no longer reeked if decay and death.
"RESTORE."
I invoked the Law of Life.
The withered body trembled.
Shriveled flesh slowly filled out. Deep wrinkles smoothed away. Brittle grey skin regained its vitality as colour returned. Frail muscles swelled with life once more, and the dim, flickering aura of death that clung to the old body was steadily overwhelmed by an overwhelming surge of vitality.
I slowly pulled away as the woman finally regained herself..
The room went still as even breathing seemed difficult for the two.
"There. That’s much better."
"I don’t want to hear any more of that sappy nonsense. Your mother is safe."
I turned towards the abyss walker.
And for the first time since I grabbed the fucker off the street. I smiled..
"Your mother....
.... Is safe."

A/N: Well, would you look at that. The bastard isn’t such a bastard after all.. I’m proud. Anyways...
