Chapter 136 Truly One of Us
Emilia’s POV
"Her name is Eve," I said quietly.
"This is incredible!" Tiffany was practically bouncing. "You went to Paris for a week and came back with your wolf awakened AND properly mated to my brother? What kind of magic happens in Paris?"
"Apparently the kind that involves a lot of pastries and honeymoon activities," I muttered, and Sebastian choked back a laugh beside me.
Mila was full-on sobbing now, but happy sobbing. She pulled me into a tight hug. "My sweet girl. My sweet, sweet girl. You’re truly part of our family now. Truly one of us."
"Mom, she was already part of the family..." Sebastian said, but his voice was soft.
"It’s different now and you know it," Mila said, pulling back to cup my face. "Fated mates. Oh, Emilia, do you know what this means?"
"That I’m stuck with your son forever?" I suggested.
Tiffany burst out laughing. "I like her so much more now that she’s not tiptoeing around Sebastian’s moods."
"It means," Mila continued, ignoring both of us, "that when you two have pups, they’re going to be incredibly strong. Fated mate bonds produce the most powerful kids. The pack is going to be thrilled!"
My face went even redder. "We’re not... I mean, that’s not... we haven’t really talked about that yet..."
"We need to have a celebration," Mila said suddenly, her tears forgotten as she switched into planning mode. "A proper one. The whole pack needs to know that our Alpha has finally found his fated mate and properly claimed her."
"Mom," Sebastian said in warning.
"Don’t ’Mom’ me," she said, poking his chest. "You’ve put this family through hell for years with your attitude and your endless line of brides who kept disappearing. Now you’ve finally done something right, and we’re going to celebrate it properly."
"I’m mind-linking the pack elders right now. We’ll have a gathering tomorrow night. No, tonight! Why wait? Tonight!"
"Mom, that’s really not necessary..." I started.
"Nonsense," she said firmly. "Titus, contact the pack members. Tiffany, help me plan the menu. Emilia, you and Sebastian go rest. You both look exhausted."
She wasn’t wrong about that.
"Come on," Sebastian said, taking my hand and pulling me toward the stairs before his mother could start planning our entire lives. "Let’s get out of here while we can."
We made it to his room. Our room now, I guess. I dropped onto the bed the second we got inside.
"That was..." I stared at the ceiling. "A lot."
"You handled it well," Sebastian said, sitting beside me.
"Your mom’s already planning our children’s lives and they don’t even exist yet."
"That’s just how she is." He lay down next to me, pulling me close. "Are you okay with all of this? The announcement? The celebration?"
I thought about it for a second. "Yeah, actually. I mean, it’s terrifying and overwhelming, but... yeah. I’m okay with it."
"Good." He kissed my forehead. "Because I meant every word I said down there. You’re mine, Emilia."
"So possessive," I said, but I was smiling.
"You have no idea."
I started unpacking my suitcase, hanging my clothes in Sebastian’s huge closet. It was weird seeing my things mixed with his. Weird but good.
A knock on the door interrupted my organizing.
"Come in," I called.
Mila walked in, and she had this look on her face that immediately made me suspicious.
"Emilia, dear," she said sweetly. "I have something for you."
She pulled a small box from behind her back and pressed it into my hands.
"What is this?" I asked.
"It’s a... supplement," she said, her eyes twinkling. "Very special. Very powerful. You should take it tonight."
I opened the box. Inside were small pills that looked harmless enough.
"Mom, what exactly is this supplement for?"
"It strengthens the bond between mates," she said quickly. "And it increases your chances of having strong, healthy pups."
My face went bright red. "Mila..."
"And," she added, leaning in like she was sharing a secret, "it also enhances... intimacy. Makes everything more intense. More pleasurable."
"Oh my God," I said, wanting to melt into the floor. "Did you seriously just give me magical sex pills?"
"They’re not just sex pills!" she protested. "They’re fertility aids that happen to have some pleasant side effects!"
Sebastian’s behavior in Paris came back to me. The man had been absolutely relentless. We’d barely left the hotel room except to see the major landmarks, and even then he’d found excuses to pull me into dark corners.
"I really don’t think we need help in that department," I said honestly.
Mila’s eyes widened. "Oh? OH!" She clapped her hands together, delighted. "Well, that’s wonderful! The mate bond is clearly strong between you two!"
"But take these anyway," she pressed the box back into my hands when I tried to return it. "Just in case. And for the fertility benefits! I want grandbabies, Emilia!"
She said excitedly, "I paid a fortune for these from someone. If you use them, they’ll make a man love you for the rest of his life..."
My face went bright red. "How could that even work..."
"It’ll work, I’m telling you! You have to use them! Grab every chance you get, so that jerk son of mine won’t have his heart set on Abigail Tanner anymore..."
