Chapter 72 Nothing Left to Say
Emilia’s POV
Sebastian appeared in my doorway. He stood there for a long moment. Then he walked in.
Before he could say anything, I said, "I don’t want to talk. Get out."
A medical kit being set down on the floor. Then the door closed.
I looked at it. And the tears came.
Nobody asked for this. Nobody asked for his guilt wrapped up in a first aid box.
I couldn’t hold it anymore. I cried for my mother. I cried for every time I had to be strong when I didn’t want to be.
And I cried because the one person who was supposed to protect me locked me in a cage and walked away.
I heard him standing outside. Through the crack under the door. He didn’t leave.
I didn’t care.
I don’t know how long I cried. I’d wanted to cry like this for so long. Every time, I’d forced it back down—scared that if I let go, I’d never be able to pull myself back together. My life had been hard enough that even crying felt like something I couldn’t afford.
I cried until there was nothing left. Until my throat was raw and my eyes were swollen shut.
When I finally stopped, the sun was starting to rise.
I got up. I wrapped my hands in the bedsheet. Tight. Messy. It would have to do.
I opened the door. He was still there. Leaning against the wall. Dark circles under his eyes.
"Do you feel better?"
Sebastian asked in a hoarse voice, looking at me with a hint of guilt in his eyes.
I acted as if I didn’t see him. I walked right past him without answering his question. It wasn’t because I was arrogant. It was because the person asking had never treated her seriously.
I had nothing left to say to a man who treated me like I was disposable.
I walked out of the pack house and saw a vast white fog. I turned around and looked at the huge villa, now covered in morning mist. For the first time, I truly understood that being a Luna was not as glamorous as I had imagined.
No one should see my injured hands and swollen eyes except Sebastian. Because everyone else actually cared about me.
I didn’t want to worry the people who cared. But for those who didn’t care about me at all, it was a different story.
I went to a nearby hospital to get my wounds rebandaged. Then I took a taxi to my friend’s place and rang the doorbell. Lily was having breakfast. When she saw me, she was shocked.
"Oh my god... What... what happened to you?"
I shook my head weakly. "Nothing." Then I walked straight into the bedroom.
"How can nothing happen when you look like this? Tell me the truth. Did that bastard Sebastian abuse you?"
Lily followed me, asking over and over.
"Can you help me ask for three days off? I’ll stay here for three days."
I didn’t want to talk about last night anymore. I just wanted to sleep well and forget all the unpleasant experiences.
Seeing that I really didn’t want to talk about it and that I looked exhausted, Lily couldn’t bring herself to ask anymore. She turned around, poured me a glass of warm milk, and said, "Drink this and get some sleep. No matter how bad life gets, you don’t have to ruin your body."
"Thank you..."
I gave my friend a grateful look, took the milk, and warned her as I drank, "Don’t tell anyone I’m here."
"Then what should I say? Scott will definitely ask."
Every time Lily mentioned Scott, her expression turned sad.
"Just say I went traveling."
"Actually, you don’t have to suffer like this. Scott can help you..."
"Lily, I can handle my own problems. I don’t want to drag my boss into my personal matters."
"But Scott likes you. If you say the word, he can definitely help you divorce that bastard Alpha Sebastian."
I heard Lily’s thoughts.
But Lily knew her limits. Seeing how determined I was, she didn’t say what was on her mind. Instead, she sighed, walked over to me, and gently smoothed my messy hair.
She said softly, "Emmy, I understand. Get some rest."
I was grateful for her understanding at that moment. "Thank you for taking me in, Lily."
"Whenever you need me. Always."
