Chapter 67 Don’t Leave Him Alone

Emilia’s POV

I didn’t say anything. But the name stuck.

Abigail Tanner. The woman who left him at the altar and ran off with his cousin. I’d wondered about her. Hearing her name in the middle of all this didn’t exactly make me feel better.

Before I could think too hard about it, the door swung open.

Sebastian walked out. His face was tight, his eyes dark. He didn’t look at me. Didn’t slow down. Just walked straight past like I wasn’t there.

I looked into the study. Wrecked. Papers on the floor, a chair knocked over, a broken lamp. Titus stood in the middle of it, expression flat, voice rough.

"Go after him. Closely."

I didn’t need to be told twice. I nodded and turned to run.

"Emilia."

Mila’s voice stopped me. She was still crying, but her eyes were sharp. Desperate.

"No matter how he treats you tonight," she said, "don’t get angry. And don’t leave him alone."

I swallowed. "I know, Mom."

I gave her one last look before sprinting out of the living room.

By the time I got outside, Sebastian was already in his car. The engine growled. He slammed his foot on the accelerator and shot toward the gate.

I didn’t think. I just ran.

I threw myself in front of the car, arms outstretched.

The headlights hit me full in the face. The engine roared. But the car stopped—screeching to a halt just inches from my knees.

Sebastian got out. His face was hard. He walked toward me.

"Get out of my way."

"Where are you going?" My voice came out steady. I didn’t feel steady. "Take me with you."

His eyes went dark. "Disappear from my sight before I do something I won’t regret. Don’t make me hurt you just because we’re technically married."

Technically married. Right. That’s what we were.

"If you don’t take me," I said, "I’m not moving."

He stared at me. Then, without a word, he got back in the car and slammed the door.

The engine revved. Tires screeched.

He drove straight at me.

The headlights rushed toward me. My brain told me to move. My feet didn’t listen.

I closed my eyes.

Great. Killed by a man with anger issues. What a way to go.

The wind whipped past me. The car skidded to a stop.

I opened my eyes.

The bumper was centimeters from my knees. Close enough to feel the heat off the engine. He’d stopped. At the last second, he’d stopped.

I exhaled.

Sebastian got out again. Faster this time. He grabbed my arm and shoved me aside hard enough that I stumbled.

"Get lost," he snapped. "Go as far as you can."

He turned back toward the car.

My arm hurt. My pride hurt more. But Mila’s voice was still in my head.

Don’t leave him alone.

I ran after him and blocked the driver’s side door.

"You just gave up your only chance to get rid of me," I said. "So you’re stuck with me now."

Sebastian’s eyes were blazing. His hand shot out and closed around my throat.

Not hard enough to choke. Just enough to make a point.

"Do you even have any self-respect?" he hissed.

I forced a smile, even though my pulse was hammering against his fingers. "Self-respect is for people who have the luxury of choice. People like me? We can’t afford it."

He stared at me.

Then he let go.

A slow smile crossed his face. Not a nice one.

"You said it."

Before I could ask what that meant, he grabbed me by the waist and shoved me into the passenger seat.

The door slammed shut.

The engine roared.

And we shot into the night.

The streets blurred past. Sebastian cut through traffic like he had somewhere to be and didn’t care who got in the way. My hand pressed flat against my chest, heart racing.

"Can you slow down?" I asked.

He turned a deaf ear to it.

"Where are you taking me?"

He stayed silent.

"What did you fight about?" I asked again.

"Shut up." He finally snapped.

I turned my face away in displeasure, staring at the flickering neon lights outside the window.

Just yesterday, he was lying in bed chatting with me, shoulder to shoulder.

But today, he treated me coldly.

This man was even more unpredictable and untrustworthy than I had imagined.

Sometimes he was kind to me, and other times he was indifferent. Under the torment of his serious mental issues, I could hardly tell whether reality was good or bad.

Sebastian made several phone calls on the way, all saying the same thing. "Come out for a drink. The usual place."

I had no idea who he had invited, and I didn’t ask. Anyway, even if I did, he wouldn’t say anything. Asking would only invite more coldness.

After a wild ride, the car finally stopped.

It stopped in front of the largest entertainment center in the city—Royal Rose.

"Get out," the man beside me ordered coldly. I hesitated.

"Isn’t this kind of place a bit inappropriate?" I asked.

He sneered and said, "Who told you to come? Don’t forget, it was you who shamelessly insisted on following me. No one forced you."

With that, he walked alone toward the entrance of the entertainment center.

I stood frozen in place, at a loss, but still forced myself to follow him inside.

At that moment, I finally understood the meaning behind his chilling smile.

It was indeed a top-level club. It was as magnificent as a palace, and the interior decoration was also extremely elegant.

I stayed close behind Sebastian, afraid that if I wasn’t careful, I might get lost.

His footsteps stopped in front of Booth No. 8, and the waiter respectfully opened the door.

Inside, four people were already seated, all dressed in designer clothes.

It was obvious at a glance that they were all influential figures.

"Alpha Sebastian, long time no see."

"Alpha Sebastian, what brings you here to invite us out for a drink today?"

As soon as the people in the booth saw him, they came forward to greet him one after another.

I stood outside the door, hesitating whether to follow him inside.
