Chapter 87 His Eyes Were Burning

Emilia’s POV

It was not until this moment that I finally understood what he meant by being penny wise, pound foolish. I had been made a complete fool by Sebastian Simons.

"Please take me up. I’m begging you, okay?"

A triumphant smirk appeared on his face. He nodded and said, "Okay. Actually, I can’t bear bullying a stupid landlubber either."

He took me to the handrail and told me, "I’ll go up first. Don’t you move. "

I squinted at him. "Don’t expect me to be tricked this time."

"You’d better not dare to move. Believe it or not, I’ll kick you down again."

I must have done evil things in my past eight lives. How could an elegant woman like me meet such a barbaric man?

"All right, hurry up."

I had to be obedient as long as I was still in that damn pool.

Sebastian took the towel from the waiter and wiped the water off his body. Then he turned around and went to the locker room.

The moment I saw him leave, I stepped onto the ladder and was ready to go up. But I found that my clothes were completely see-through after soaking in water. My underwear was almost fully visible. So I sank back into the water again and did not dare to move.

About ten minutes later, Sebastian came back, neatly dressed, with a coat on his arm. He walked up to me and stretched out his hand. "Come on up."

I grabbed his hand, pushed off with my feet, and he pulled me up. Then, with lightning speed, he wrapped his coat around me.

I looked up in surprise, completely confused by his considerate gesture. From what I knew of Sebastian, he was definitely not a thoughtful person.

"You guys have fun. I’m leaving."

Sebastian waved at his friends and walked out of the pool area with his arm around my shoulder.

Behind us came Jeremy’s disgruntled protest. "Hey, Alpha Sebastian, bros before hoes, right? You agreed to go to the bar together later..."

As the protest faded away, I found myself in the VIP suite on the third floor.

I sat on the sofa and did not dare to move. My clothes were still wet, sticking to my pale skin like a second layer.

"Put this on first. I’ll take you to buy clothes tomorrow."

Sebastian threw me a white shirt. It was soft and smooth, obviously of excellent quality.

I went to the bathroom and took a hot shower. Then I stood by the mirror, looking at my own reflection. How could a figure like this be compared to a shriveled bean? That man must have been blind if he could not appreciate perfection.

I comforted myself with that thought.

Sebastian’s physique was quite muscular, so his shirt was oversized on me. I was neither petite nor plump, just tall and well-proportioned. The shirt fit me like a loose pajama top, barely covering my thighs. The collar was slightly open, and even I had to admit I looked—well, charming.

When I walked out, Sebastian was sitting on the sofa watching "Dawn of the Dead." This guy was really abnormal. If he watched TV at all, it had to be disgusting zombie war movies.

"Where can I get something to drink? I’m thirsty."

Sebastian’s eyes moved toward the source of my voice, and he froze.

His gaze landed on me, and he stopped breathing for a second. I saw it clearly. His green eyes swept down my legs, then up to my open collar. His pupils dilated slightly. His jaw clenched. He was staring at me like he was trying to figure out a puzzle he did not want to solve.

My heart stuttered.

That look. Hot. Heavy. Like he was undressing me with his eyes all over again.

I raised an eyebrow and forced my voice to stay steady. "What? Never seen a good figure before?"

He looked away immediately and pointed toward the refrigerator. "In the fridge. Get it yourself."

I walked over gracefully, took two bottles of iced tea, and walked back. "Here you go."

Sebastian’s eyes flickered to my legs again. Then to my collar. He swallowed hard, and I saw his throat move. He took the drink from my hand. "...Thanks."

I almost laughed.

So men really were all the same. Animals that thought with their lower bodies. Even Sebastian, the famous woman-hater, turned polite the moment he saw a woman in a sexy shirt.

Too bad I had seen that brief weakness in his eyes. And I was not about to let him forget it.

It was already two in the morning, but I was not sleepy at all. Being with someone like Sebastian, even my lifestyle had changed. I used to sleep early, but now I had turned into a night owl.

I held my iced tea and walked around the living room, looking at the paintings on the wall. There were scenic spots from different countries—Paris, Venice, Santorini. My favorite was Paris. A dream destination for many.

I did not believe in love. I did not expect some romantic fairy tale to happen to me. But sometimes, I still fantasized about being held by a man I truly loved, walking down the oak-lined streets of Paris, heading toward a place called eternity...

"Can you stop swaying in front of me?"

Sebastian finally broke the silence.

I blinked innocently. "I’m not swaying in front of you. The TV is over there. How am I bothering you when I’m standing here?"

He looked a little embarrassed. "I like silence. If you keep walking around like this, how am I supposed to focus on the movie?"

"Was it my footsteps that bothered you? Or did my shriveled figure distract you?"

I walked over and sat down next to him, looking at him calmly.

His eyes flickered. "It’s your footsteps, of course. I don’t even bother looking at your shriveled figure."

"Really?"

I leaned closer to him. "Did you really not look? Or have you been looking for a long time?"

"Can’t you be more reserved? Walking around in front of a man instead of sleeping at midnight. Who taught you this?"

"Self-taught."

I grinned brightly, showing my teeth. For a moment, I saw him freeze again. His green eyes were glued to my lips, and I could have sworn I saw his breath hitch.

But then he got up in annoyance, walked to the refrigerator, and took out a few bottles of beer. He opened one and drank it, head tilted back, avoiding my eyes.

I watched him. That stubborn, ridiculous man.

"You know," I said quietly, "drinking like that is killing you slowly."
