Chapter 124 Honeymoon
Emilia’s POV
I stared at Sebastian standing there with his suitcase, my brain short-circuiting.
What the hell was he doing here?
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Paris."
I blinked. Once. Twice. "What?"
"Paris," he repeated, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Of all the things I’d expected him to say, that wasn’t even on the list.
"Why are you going to Paris?" I demanded, crossing my arms.
"For a honeymoon."
He said it so casually, that for a second I actually considered the possibility that I’d fallen asleep on Lily’s couch and this was all some bizarre stress dream.
"If you’re here to see me off, just say it directly. Don’t joke around."
"Do you think I’m joking?"
He shook the small suitcase in his hand.
"So you’re on a business trip, aren’t you?" I tried again, grasping for any logical explanation.
His jaw tightened in that way it did when he was getting irritated. "What the hell? I said I’m on a honeymoon. Why don’t you believe it?"
It was too early in the morning for whatever game he was playing. "Okay, then enjoy your honeymoon. Goodbye."
I turned to walk toward my gate.
"Hey, where are you going..." His hand caught my wrist, pulling me back.
I yanked my arm away. "You can go your way and I’ll go mine. It doesn’t matter to you where I’m going."
"It does matter." His green eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. "We’re going on a honeymoon together. What’s a honeymoon if you’re not with me?"
"Who wants to go on a honeymoon with you?"
I raised my eyebrows, genuinely speechless. Had he hit his head on the way here?
A boarding announcement echoed through the departure hall. Without warning, Sebastian grabbed my hand and started walking.
"What on earth are you doing?" I struggled against his grip, but his fingers were locked around mine.
"We must go now, or else we won’t make it in time." He glanced back at me, his expression serious.
I had no choice but to follow him. We were both flying to Paris anyway.
After boarding, I discovered he’d booked first-class twin seats. My own ticket had gone to waste.
I sat down and turned to face him. "Are you having an attack again?"
"I was initially recovering," he said, settling into his seat. "But now it’s worsening because of you."
I froze, confusion flooding through me. "I don’t understand what you mean."
Without a word, Sebastian pulled out a black pen from his suit jacket. He reached for my right hand, and before I could protest, he was writing on my palm.
[I can’t live without you.]
My heart did this stupid little flip in my chest. "I still don’t understand."
His finger wiped away the ink, and he wrote again, more deliberately this time.
[I don’t want to let you go.]
The words were right there, clear as day on my skin. But I couldn’t let myself believe it. Couldn’t let myself hope. Not after everything.
I shook my head. "I still don’t understand."
Sebastian looked at me, half frustrated, half desperate. He gripped my hand tighter and wrote three more words.
[I LOVE YOU.]
Then he looked up at me, waiting.
I couldn’t help but smile, even though I tried not to. I snatched the pen from his hand and added beneath his words: [I see, but why?]
My palm was covered in ink now, no more space for writing. Sebastian leaned close to my ear, his breath warm against my skin.
"The reason is simple," he murmured. "I thought my heart could not reach you, but when you left me, I suddenly realized that my heart didn’t need to reach you because you’re already in my heart."
Something inside me shattered.
Every wall I’d built, every defense I’d carefully put up—they all came crashing down in an instant.
I turned and buried my face in his shoulder, and the tears came.
"Hey, hey..." Sebastian’s arms came around me, uncertain at first, then stronger. "Emilia..."
I couldn’t stop. Couldn’t pull myself together. I just cried into his expensive suit while he held me.
When I finally managed to get myself under control, I lifted my head and glared at him through blurry eyes.
"I’ll never let you go easy if you dare go back on your words," I said, my voice rough.
"You don’t have to threaten me." A small smile played at the corner of his mouth. "You know better than anyone else how cautious I am with my feelings."
He was right. That’s what made this so overwhelming. Sebastian didn’t give his heart easily. He didn’t say things he didn’t mean.
For him to say he loved me...
It meant everything.
He held my ink-stained hand in his, our fingers intertwining. Two lonely hearts finally finding their way to each other.
When the plane touched down in Paris, I practically vibrated with excitement.
This was it. My dream city. The place I’d fantasized about for years. And Sebastian was here with me.
I wanted to scream. To shout. To tell every single person in this airport that I was stupidly, impossibly happy.
"You must be tired after being on the plane for such a long time, right?" Sebastian asked as we walked through the terminal. "I’ve already asked Fynn to book a hotel for me. Let’s go get some rest first, shall we?"
I shook my head immediately. "I’m not tired. I really want to do something now. Can you come with me?"
"Sure, what do you want to do?"
"Shall we find a street full of sycamore trees and take a walk while holding hands?"
Sebastian burst into laughter. "I thought it was something difficult. That’s easy, let’s go."
He took me to the Champs-Élysées.
Standing in the middle of the road, surrounded by towering sycamore trees, I felt tears prick my eyes. For years, I’d only dared to imagine this scene. And now it was real.
