Chronicles of The Hardships of Komachi in The Sengoku Era
At the beginning of February, one thousand five hundred and sixty-eight
Shizuko's city of technocrats was, to put it better, groundbreaking and, worse still, too heterogeneous.
First, digging torches and enclosures are installed in each household. Some places put wet towels to increase humidity.
This is a countermeasure to the sharp rise in mortality within a year, from December to February.
In winter, temperatures drop and humidity drops, so the viruses and bacteria that cause the disease are activated in relative terms, causing a pandemic.
Increasing humidity and increasing the temperature of the house is a countermeasure. But with that much fire, naturally, firewood usage is not foolish.
In order to combat the cold, we cut mountain forests and run to secure firewood. As a result, we will become poor in the short term, even if it is good for mass production of bald mountains. Shizuko, however, solved the problem lightly and showed it.
The solution is bamboo charcoal.
Bamboo charcoal is inferior to firepower than charcoal such as spare charcoal, and the burning time is about 3,4 hours shorter than 5,6 hours of charcoal.
Bamboo charcoal is inferior to charcoal in all, but the growth rate of raw bamboo boasts an overwhelming speed that is not even comparable to that of wood.
Three to four months to the size of a serving, and four years to the quality of bamboo products and other processed products.
In contrast, cedars and cypress (hikiki) can only be around 10 meters after 20 years.
The most suitable for bamboo charcoal is Meng Soo-bamboo, but it is said that it was during the Edo period that Meng Soo-bamboo spread throughout Japan.
None of the theories, including the theory that temple people brought it back from China, have proved it.
Shizuko, who wanted to mass-produce the bamboo charcoal of Meng Soo-bamboo if possible, asked Kujiro to obtain seeds, or underground stems.
Temple officials who had a legendary theory and China asked them to look from two routes of smuggling.
It's easy to tell Meng Soo-chu, Makoto, and Awabamboo.
Meng Zongzhu has one nodal (fushi) ring, and the new bamboo has a white powder attached, so the white powder under the ring stands out.
The bamboo has two nodal (fushi) rings, if thin, the upper ring stands out. And the touch of the upper ring has no horns.
Pale bamboo is similar to two nodal (fushi) rings and genuine bamboo, but the whole trunk looks white and the upper ring is relatively squared.
Therefore, I told him that if there was a single ring of verse (fushi) and a white powder in the new bamboo ring, it would be Meng Soo-bamboo.
When I told him that there were only five of them if they were underground stems and only seeds, Kujiro agreed with his usual frigid grin.
Since the negotiation was concluded, Shizuko gives Kujiro the advance and the cost of the work. Officials and temple people are vulnerable to gold.
Shizuko gave it to Kujiro, thinking that he would need the funds to work on it.
Shizuko thought it was necessary to moderate for a while because she had spent a lot of money, but she didn't have the sense that the liquidity had only temporarily decreased and that she had assets to the extent of those who would be called giant farmers in the later world.
Shizuko creates bamboo groves of genuine bamboo and pale bamboo as a connection until Meng Soo-bamboo is available.
We've both created a fairly extensive bamboo grove, so you won't have any problems with fuel.
When bamboo charcoal is made, bamboo vinegar liquid (chikusaki) and wood tar can be collected as by-products, but this one needs to rest for at least three months using the method of stationary method, separating bamboo vinegar liquid from tar.
However, bamboo vinegar liquid (chikusakuki) has a wide variety of applications such as deodorizing, sterilization, antiseptic and insect repellent properties, soil improvement and pesticide abatement, compost making, skin care and bath water to prevent water cooling.
Unlike coltar, which can be from oil, wood tar also has a bactericidal effect. The smell also has a unique aroma that draws a line from the petroleum smell of coltar.
The performance is similar to that of bamboo vinegar liquid (chisel), insect repellent, mildew repellent, water resistant, acid resistant, oil resistant, salt resistant, embalming, ants (termites) and high performance.
If painted on building materials, insect and waterproof properties are obtained, and once dried, they do not soften at high temperatures.
If it dries completely, it becomes odorless. Due to its high bactericidal properties, it was used as a traditional medicine in Finland.
Dilute it with water and turn it into tar water and the application will be more extensive.
The only drawback is that impromptu mass production is not possible because it needs to be stationary.
The toilet situation was decided to suit the Edo period. A suction toilet is installed everywhere, and they are regularly sucked and transferred to fattening and processed into one of the fertilizers.
Bathing habits were also encouraged as an enhancement of hygiene. Daily bathing on boulders can be costly, but arrangements were made for fuel to be put in about a couple of times a week.
At that time, it is only natural to burn bamboo. Because the bamboo contains oil well, it burned fast and also has a hollow structure, which was convenient because it burns out without over-boiling water.
With regard to meals, a 'dining room' was set up. It is more efficient to cook together at once than to cook individually in each household.
It is easier to collect in bulk from the 'cafeteria' than to collect waste products in each household. In addition, a collection bin dedicated to organic waste for compost will be installed in various parts of the city for regular collection.
But the women were not freed from the heavy labor of cooking. Working in the dining room is the wife who originally cooked at home.
Differences were to be made in the taste of the dishes served in the 'dining room' in that relationship.
Shizuko was concerned that the taste preference would create a bias in the "dining room", but unexpectedly, the townspeople made it a kind of entertainment that each "dining room" tasted different.
The security relationship decided to build a system with reference to modern police mechanisms.
That sounds good, but in fact, it's a simple organization to the point of electing professional police officers and packing them into the police stations set up in every part of the city to work in turns. Still, it was based on a set of dogs and guards, and their behavior in two-man cells.
Dogs can handle a variety of things, including security, reconnaissance, command and casualty detection, if trained.
People benefit from the various abilities that dogs are inherently capable of, even if they simply have basic training to form a subordinate relationship.
Why dogs can be understood as soon as history is unraveled.
Humanity's oldest partner is a dog, and the relationship between dogs and humans is so profound that it is not an exaggeration.
The length of history can be seen in the presence of dog fossils in the fossils of ancient people all over the world.
The reason it was a dog, not some other animal, that was because it was the dog who would detect the enemy coming from the darkness as soon as possible in an era when the light was scarce.
Due to the sociality of dogs, and excellent olfactory and hearing, humans have survived the crisis many times.
The history of military dogs is also long and used to operate as an army in ancient Greece.
In the ancient Roman Empire, he said, he built an army of dogs to carry the battle in his favor against enemies who fought scattered into forests such as the Celts and the Germanic tribe.
Also used for offense as well as defense, the Greeks and Romans had dogs inside the fort, sensing enemy proximity with sharp sense of smell and hearing.
Since Aristotle's time, dogs have been made brave and courageous warriors and at the same time loyal friends to humans.
Japanese dogs in particular have such properties as rustic, loyal, and brave. He is so reliable as a watchdog.
Just a regular patrol around the city will be an intermediate measure, and even if they break in, dogs will detect unusual smells and signs.
Even the hardest part of avoiding them would be difficult to obtain useful information for both parties.
Because the city of a bunch of engineers created by Shizuko is not a place to research and develop military technology, but to convert military technology to civilian technology or to recreate the kinds of tools that are available today.
When the city dwellers are finally getting used to the life of the artisanal district, the first batch of Shizuko's impotence strikes them.
"Uh... make something similar to this...?
From among the woodworkers gathered, the person who was at the forefront questions Shizuko on behalf of the venue.
"That's right. Reproduce this part of the lid exactly."
Shizuko sneers and a good grin of people as they deliberately flush their confusion.
But there's no point in them being confused either. Because what Shizuko showed them is what modern times call a pet bottle.
Craftsmen cannot hide their confusion from what they have never seen or heard before.
"This is also used with a flash rope gun, it uses the technology of screws. By doing so, the contents are not overflowing and high airtightness is obtained. Watch."
Flip one of the bamboo water bottles that just stuck a wooden plate and covered it and a few pet bottles that were inside the sports bag.
Then whoever stuck the plank of wood lost the momentum of the water, or the plank of the tree as a lid overflowed with water that was popping out.
However, the pet bottle received water without overflowing the contents and without the lid coming off.
"Oh, whoa..."
Craftsmen who raise their admiration even as they marvel. Having decided that the grasp was fine, Shizuko proceeds while they are impressed.
"The period is two months, the condition is to reproduce it in a bamboo water bottle and the diameter as shown in the blueprint. Don't hesitate to use the research costs because they are in this crate. Oh, be sure to keep the period. Because if you don't, the lightning will fall on the house."
Blueprints, research costs and original products for use in research on caps of pet bottles.
After handing them over one after the other, Shizuko followed the woodworker's rally point before they could say anything.
When Shizuko walked away for a while, their head understanding finally caught up, they roughly touched the pet bottle.
Though at first they were pleasantly surprised, gradually they immersed themselves in the craftsman's soul without any flames or waves.
Do the same thing to weavers, bakers, life blacksmiths.
Machine weavers have reproductions of t-shirts, underwear and steteco that were inside sports bags. The baker shall master the use of the climbing kiln and set up a system capable of mass producing baked goods.
It's a reproduction of many farming instruments written by Shizuko for life blacksmiths.
Some do it jointly. A blacksmith and woodworker, Shizuko ordered the manufacture of a wooden barrel distiller.
She has always wondered what a distiller is made of stainless steel and other metals and rubber.
But then I realized how I distilled and made shochu in the Edo period, when there was no rubber or even if there was one, it would be a luxury product.
I remember taking a tour of the "Wooden Barrel Distiller" when I was traveling to Kagoshima, thinking about any tips.
That was made of a small amount of metal and brick, but the majority were wood and bamboo. The principles and ingenuity of the distiller remain unchanged, whether in wood or metal.
Then there was no reason why it could not be made, so Shizuko ordered the manufacture of a barrel distiller.
"Hmmm...... I want rubber, is it enough for a factis (sub) to be manufactured by adding sulfur to vegetable fats as a substitute for natural rubber......? But it's full of mixing ratios, which is better..."
Rubber substitutes can be made without natural rubber. That's what they call faktis.
The history of factis was ancient and in medieval Europe it reacted linseed oil and sulphur, making it an elastic resinous substance to take advantage of.
Because of its preservative properties, records remain of its use primarily as a surgical medicine.
After the appearance of synthetic rubber, the role of processing aids and softeners changed.
"As for taking vegetable oil from the twist...... the problem is sulphur. It's easy to get sulfur because I use it with black gunpowder, but I don't even think it's lubricated enough to keep using it in experiments."
At present, there are also development priorities and it is difficult to divert large quantities of sulphur. Shizuko understood that no extravagant research could be done now, beyond the fact that vegetable oil was also a precious product.
I make each technician make things, but especially life blacksmiths are tough, making finished products and not over.
From time to time, we will feed into the defects that come out as we use them, and develop circulation that will solve them and upgrade them.
The tools of life will continue to be used after the unification of the heavens and the earth. At first it is necessary to gradually increase completeness, even if it is loose.
The sooner it starts, the better the defects will be washed out, so we need to keep testing them even if they are less reproducible.
For this reason, Shizuko ordered that the experiment be carried out once it had taken on some form.
It doesn't just end with directing the city people. Shizuko also needs to grow seedlings and seeds that were in sports bags.
The owner of the notebook wants to grow seeds and seedlings. But it doesn't matter what you think of growing everything.
The combination is a mess. Even if this was a good first year, the soil would have been wasted in a few years.
Shizuko thought the owner of the notebook was an amateur when it came to agriculture, to see where seeds and seedlings were collected in Darkless Arrow Cod.
The amateur 'wants to grow numbers anyway' and tries to grow a multitude of varieties. In fact, Shizuko also did it in the early days to wipe out the vegetable garden.
But you can't. You can combine it like a companion plant, but on the contrary, if you raise it in such a way as to attract natural enemies, the crop will fall together.
First I thought it was necessary to organize the seeds and seedlings, and I opened the sports bag again, but a problem arose here.
I couldn't tell from a glance, but when I observed it closely, some seedlings were damaged. From the damage, it feels like a strong force has been received from the side.
She thought it was pointless to know what caused it immediately, clashing at something while holding the bag, and confirming the seedlings and seeds again.
As a result of the confirmation, the plum seedlings were the worst damaged.
Plums must be grown with pollen varieties because they have weak self-sufficiency. Both types were heavily damaged because they were outermost.
In modern times it may be possible to repair it, but in warring times when there are no tools such as reinforcing tape, Shizuko also has nothing else to give up.
And the damage wasn't just plums, two lemons, and Micah had one seedling irreparably damaged.
In the end, all that was safe was one lemon seedling and two Micah seedlings that were on the innermost side.
Further tragedy ensues. A broken seedling was pierced by a snack pine seedling. Six of the 20 snack pine seedlings were disposed of.
The broken seedlings had also broken bags containing more flower seeds, and had torn bags of chidachialoe, strelicia, and cosmos. Because the seeds have mixed together, Shizuko, who decides that it takes time to separate them, chooses to destroy them thoughtfully.
There are two types of rice that you will eventually grow, plus erm wheat.
The vegetables are spinach, cabbage, white flower beans, snap peas, potatoes, okra and peanuts.
The fruit is lemon, micah, watermelon and snack pine.
The flowers are white flower worm chrysanthemum, twirl, aloe vera, gold, French marigold and laurel (Laurier).
Erin and sunflower were considered for green fertilizer, but sunflower seeds and en wheat fruit were needed.
Hence, the barley uses its characteristic deep guts to retain only the soil improvement effect. The whirlpools were crushed except for seeds and decided to use them for the soaking of green fat.
Laurel Tree (Laurier), French Marigold grows to symbiosis as a companion plant.
I don't grow any other safe flowers because I can't afford to grow them in Shizuko. It is possible in modern times when there are drugs for fertilizers, rotted soil and various diseases, but it is pointless to grow them in warring times when they are not available.
This is the result of sorting items as cost-effective as possible. It should be noted that the scythes grow even with horrible fertility, so it was decided that it was better not to grow them like the others.
Even in the days of Shizuko, there are many names for bad images such as terrorists, including the name 'crop guerrillas'. Whether it is a home garden or a professional farmer, there is a variety that "must only be cultivated in a specific environment".
Shiso falls into that category, but it is a shame to throw it away because it is available when soaking the plum. Therefore, it was decided to isolate the cultivation site from the others and carry out simple planter cultivation with bricks.
Kim Jun is a mere cactus, so it makes little sense to grow it, but it takes no effort, so I decided it was no problem.
Where other species were also calculating and preparing the time, new instructions from Nobunaga arrive at Shizuko.
The content is "Increase Salt Production." I had no problem with that because I expected it, but there was another order.
That was the mysterious order to "move the inhabitants of Shizuko's village to an expanding city".
Shizuko the boulder was not convinced by the sudden emigration of residents.
Unexpectedly, when I applied for a visit because I had to ask why, I was granted permission to do so as soon as possible.
I don't know if I expected it, or if I felt good, but Shizuko hurries to Nobunaga, who I thought would be convenient anyway.
Shizuko, who saw him, asked Nobunaga. What is the reason for suddenly moving villagers in this period? If you do poorly, your production may fall and you may not be able to pay enough annual contributions. Still want people to migrate now?
I don't mind.
Nobunaga's answer to that was simple.
Because Nobunaga replied in an extra dignified manner, Shizuko illusioned for a moment whether she had an extra worry.
"But as it stands, it could be a significant reduction in production…. Is there any reason to force people to migrate, even if we ignore that problem?
But as soon as I shook my head (wearing it), I asked what Nobunaga was thinking.
"If this year's annual contribution is at least more from next year onwards, there will be no problem in the long run. To do this, we need to move the people who inherited your technology to various locations for further inheritance."
After completing the payment, Nobunaga tells Shizuko only about the plan he has within himself.
His plans were not an exaggeration in the Warring States era, even if they were modern or extraordinary.
The plan for thorough efficiency was as follows:
First pull twenty to thirty from each village. Thirty early inhabitants, including Shizuko, are excluded at this time.
Build six villages with the number of people gathered, and gather three to five villages like satellites based on that village.
The summarised village shall be a unit called a 'group', and its' groups' shall be called together in three units called a 'city'.
Nobunaga calls it "One in Three Cities".
The "One in Three" system will look like this:
First, in the first year, it is the same as what Shizuko did, and the villages that serve as the basis provide education and support for agriculture to each village.
From the first year of harvest, the Oda family will be paid the reserved rice, which will become "collateral".
The crops to be cultivated for each 'group' shall be replaced every year starting from the following financial year.
For example, in the first year, "Group A" is rice and soybeans, "Group B" is rice and sweet potatoes, and "Group C" is rice and chicken eggs. In the second year, "Group A" is rice and sweet potatoes, "Group B" is rice and chicken eggs, and "Group C" is rice and soybeans. In the third year, "Group A" consists of rice and chicken eggs, "Group B" consists of rice and soybeans, and "Group C" consists of rice and sweet potatoes.
The fourth year is then cultivated in the same way as the first year, and the 'collateral' paid three years ago is returned. However, a new "collateral" will be required for the next three years.
It's a fixed contract called a two-year bondage or three-year bondage. Naturally, if you want to break the contract over a period of three years, you will incur a huge penalty.
Reserved rice deposited as collateral if it cannot be paid is forfeited as a penalty.
If this loop is repeated five times, the tax rate will be changed from five to six citizens.
Further, cakes are delivered to New Year's Eve and Harvest Festival as part of the benefit.
Three per villager, and one mirror cake per village are sent. This was also meant to motivate people to work.
Nobunaga had in mind other special measures of considerable preference to prevent the people from becoming more motivated to work and betraying them.
But he won't publish them. In order to practice Maccabelli's 'Benefits should be applied to small pieces, in order to give people a long taste', the parts corresponding to whips and candy candy will be small pieces.
Naturally, instead of only giving candy, negatively renovate and balance hard to notice areas.
"Well, they're going to say it stinks..."
"Fear not the reputation of your lord, the stingy. And as long as the results are good, the means are always justified. Whether We deceive the people, let them think that the consequences are good for them, and the people will not care about my policies. The people just have to get fat while they dream moderately."
"I see...... ok. I said I couldn't see your sincerity and couldn't be foolish."
"Good. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions in the future. Sometimes it produces better opinions."
Shizuko was honestly surprised by the words. Nobunaga was absolutely confident in his thoughts and thought he was someone who was not dependent on the opinions of people.
Nobunaga, who noticed Shizuko's gaze, even said this with a normal expression.
"It's also surprising. Until now, I thought my thoughts were right. But you know the world, and you know how small your experience is. The world is wide, and there are still many who know what I do not know. Therefore, I have learned their knowledge, and I have decided to make them flesh and blood."
In late February, Shizuko took up the task of creating a large salt field directly managed by Nobunaga.
Shizuko's place of residence hits the hinterland, so the Gulf coast needs to be maintained in order to create salt fields.
However, the Gulf Coast has not been developed, so most places were equal to wasteland.
There was a further problem. It is water.
In the longitudinally elongated Chita Peninsula, there were no large rivers and chronic water shortages.
This is why rainwater ponds support the lives of the people. So once there was a drought, I was immediately starving.
Until Aichi Water became operational in September 1961, when people were constantly fighting the fear of drought.
Aichi water is a 112 kilometer main waterway that runs from upstream of the Kiso River to the tip of the Chita Peninsula, which, by analogy with the human body, hits the artery.
It consists of as many as 1012 kilometers of branched waterways that serve as capillaries that branch out of their arteries and carry nutrition to various parts of the body.
The two central figures in this major project are Shintaro Kuno, a serious farmer, and Tatsuo Hamashima, a teacher at Anjo Agroforestry High School.
The future they dream of will come true after spending a total of 42.3 billion yen, nine years after the conception and four years after the start of construction. It became Japan's first super-large national policy business after the war.
Fortunately, it is not a population like the Showa period, so no killing occurs for every drop of water, and it is possible to obtain drinking water from streams in areas where people do not live.
However, what is available is potable water, agricultural water is near impossible, and river construction is difficult because there are only streams.
Eventually, we decided to build a large salt field around the roots of the Chita Peninsula and pull domestic water, including drinking water, from the Tianbai River.
Later, Nobunaga will house the humans he prepared in advance.
That was supposed to be it. However, it was only in the thoughts of Shizuko and the reality was harsh.
"Fisheries union?
Shizuko tilts her neck at the words of the village chief, who is the representative of the villagers to settle.
"Yes. Our discussions with Oda led us to settle here and encourage the production of salt. But salt alone made me feel uneasy, and I told Oda that."
"Oh, well, I know how you feel"
It is understandable that villagers, including village chiefs, feel anxious about whether the production of salt alone can cover everything.
Because if the production of salt ends in failure, the only thing waiting is hunger.
"In doing so, Mr. Oda recommended that we do not combine fishing. And Shizuko will teach you technical instruction on fisheries...?
"Er... (I didn't hear that! how easy it would be to say) Well, if I were you, I think I could teach you about the touching part."
That's what I said, Shizuko, but she only 'knows' how to fish and has no real fishing experience.
I have blueprints for large fishing and transport vessels, but those blueprints are written in modern units, so it is impossible to build them immediately.
(If that city succeeds, ask the hall to unify the weights and measures into the MKS unit system. I can't laugh when there is an error when I do it in the corresponding table. Perhaps it would be better to harmonize the criteria, prepared for a temporary reduction in revenues and gains)
Unifying standards makes it harder to commit fraud and reduces the number of bad merchants. Because the yield can be calculated based on the size of the land, annual contributions can be predicted with fairly accurate figures, and surpluses can be returned to the inhabitants.
Unit unification gains in the long run. And the enactment of weights and measures was also a symbol of power until recent times.
Hideyoshi, who succeeded Nobunaga, and Jiakang, who opened the Shogun of Edo, also carry out the unification of weights and measures.
"Sooner or later, thank you."
"Um, with all due respect, I don't see a fishing boat, but where is it?
They are the people Nobunaga has gathered from somewhere every time. I know I built a house for them like that, but I don't see any fishing boats at all. I also don't see any docks that dock fishing boats.
Shizuko got fed up with the idea of starting with the construction of the fishing boat.
"No, Mr. Oda says you can have it around."
But it was a matter of concern. Apparently, the fishing boat construction went somewhere else and that hasn't arrived yet.
"Then it's good. That's right...... well, at first, three things are fine: the longline, basket and octopus fishing. If you get used to it, I'd like a searching fishery. Is it shellfish digging on the coast after...?
"Ha..."
"(You don't have to look so anxious to explain! First, it's about the longline fishing industry."
In the end, he was Shizuko, who became the feather to give an explanation until it was time to go home.
Then about a week later, a fishing boat was finally delivered to them.
Shizuko, who received the report a few more days later, quickly headed to their village. Upon arrival, three medium-sized fishing vessels and a total of eleven smaller two-passenger boats of the same size were moored at the dock when the fishing vessel was seen.
It also appears that the "basket" containing the bait and the manoeuvres for the longline fishery had been completed, and that they had boarded and installed the fishing vessel on the day it was delivered.
Catching pots and basket fishing, which are easy to structure and relatively easy to operate, can take a certain amount even from amateurs because of their good catch performance.
However, because the catch performance is too good, a limit is placed on the number of baskets used in modern times from the point of view of resource protection.
"It's been three days since I installed it, so is it time to collect it?"
"Heh. Unfortunately yesterday and one yesterday, Nagawa ended up failing. So today I'm changing places and installing them. Of course, as Shizuko said, we haven't even gotten to a place where the flag isn't visible."
Once a maritime disaster occurs, catastrophic events are inevitable.
The world's most famous shipwreck was sunk on April 14, 1912 (Meiji 45) when the British seafarer ship Titanic crashed into an iceberg during a virgin voyage, an accident that killed 1517 people.
On May 29, 1914 (Daejong 3), the Canadian registry passenger ship Empress of Ireland crashed and sank with the Norwegian registry freighter Stallstad on the St. Lawrence River due to the thick fog, resulting in as many as 1,024 deaths and disappearances.
In Japan, on April 15, 1910 (Meiji 43), the Japanese Navy's "Sixth Submarine" sank during training for gasoline diving experiments in Hiroshima Bay. Captain Sakuma, no more than 14 crew members were killed in the line of duty.
It would be more tragic if maritime casualties occurred during the Warring States.
If you get thrown out of the boat and flushed by the tide, you're done. You will never be able to tread the earth alive again.
They are artisans who make salt at the same time as fishermen. We need you to be as thorough as possible with the 'take care of your life' operation.
So Shizuko imposed a rule on them.
When fishing, raise a flag to teach the location of the village (an easy to understand return goal).
Wearing a bamboo barrel tied with a walnut rope (life-saving device alternative).
Performing work by tying your body to the ship (lifeline).
Do not fish at night or on bad weather days (hazard avoidance).
If those rules cannot be followed, they were informed to take up fishing vessels and let them focus on salt production.
They didn't really understand why that rule was needed at first, but I knew yesterday and when a villager was thrown out of the boat.
That the weather in the ocean is rough and a little alarm can kill you. And they understood with their bodies that Shizuko's rules were rules to avoid them as much as possible.
"Oh, it looks like you're home. From what I can tell... you look delicate."
"Well, wasn't the fishery good?"
While we were talking about that, the fishing boat arrived at the pier. The fishing vessel shall be moored by bracketing the rope in the mooring column.
After they were finished, fishermen dropped boxes from fishing vessels that would contain the harvest.
It seems like a good achievement is expected to be seen where a few people hold it, but their expression is hard for some reason.
When all the boxes were arranged in front of Shizuko, the fisherman said this while holding the lid of one of the boxes in his hand.
"I've brought it all back for now... Um, what is this?
The lid opens with the words.
It was Madaco who was inside. There were other marine molluscs like sulmeicas and sea lions in there.
"(... maybe you've never seen it?) Uh, let me ask you one thing, is this possibly your first time fishing at sea?
"Heh, heh. I'm ashamed I've only fished in the river so far... I've never actually been out to sea like this."
It was as expected. They were fishermen specializing in river fish.
I guess that's why she looked odd looking at sea creatures, Shizuko understood.
"As it may be, well, unscrupulous, remember now. Well, what else is in there?
Open the crate instead of the cooler box.
Basket fishing contained shrimp, crabs. Shrimp had a lot of car shrimp and crab had a lot of wasps in it.
Confirm the person in Nagawa. There was also a mix of kisses and haze, but on the whole I felt a lot of rhinoceros.
If you look closely, Xafug was a little mixed up, so Shizuko grabs one of them with her hand and shows it to the villagers.
"Uh, this fugue is dangerous to eat. Don't eat it by mistake."
"... what happens when you eat?
"I will lose my life after suffering."
Shizuko answers without hesitation to the words of the presumably asking village chief.
The main component of poison accumulated in the body, such as Xafug, is tetrodotoxin.
Tetrodotoxin is a substance about 850 times more toxic than "calcium blue acid", a well-known poison in movies, dramas, etc.
If taken orally, a standard adult male dies with an intake of 1 or 2 mg. It is also highly resistant to heat and has properties that do not degrade at about 300 degrees of heat used as a cooking range.
Once more taken up in the body, it is difficult to degrade by drug administration, and the only way to do so is to administer an agonist to activate the heart and encourage the use of diuretics to expel the poison with the urine.
Tetrodotoxin also acts on the nervous system and causes respiratory distress, which requires the assistance of artificial respiration in parallel with drug administration.
"By the way, it depends on where you hold the poison. It varies depending on the time of year. If you see a fugue, return it to the sea immediately."
"hey, hey"
By the time I finished talking, the village chief's complexion had turned bright blue.
But tetrodotoxin is a really dangerous poison. The only salvation is not to be invaded by poison just by touching the fugue directly.
"Well, it's easy to understand because it swells like this. Shall we say goodbye to the sea?"
With that said, Shizuko throws the fugue thoughtfully toward the sea. Drawing a beautiful arc, Fugue falls into the sea.
After seeing it through, Shizuko turns her body toward the villagers again.
"Well... first of all, it's the way the living octopus is shimmered"
"Shimmer?
"Yeah, octopus, squid, and fish live too well as they are. It's dangerous if you don't make a scene."
After saying that, Shizuko grabs the appropriate octopus unconstructively and puts it on the table she had prepared.
The octopus is still fine, and he was intimidated with eight tentacles with multiple suckers to appeal to the area.
Shizuko, by contrast, had something like thickened bamboo skewers in her hands.
We thought it was necessary to spot octopuses, squids, and fish, and we had the tools.
"Eight legs with lots of suction cups will be the main edible area. Sometimes they call you tentacles. So, this seemingly head area is the stomach where humans say it is. The actual head will be where this eye is attached. So a knife between your eyes, or a knife with a tool like this."
Slash between your eyes with a knife, or poke with a tool such as a thousand pieces, and the octopus will be spotted.
It is relatively easy to ascertain whether a steep point has been successfully broken through.
"If you poke it well, your entire leg will be white at once. You see, your reddish legs grew white all at once."
As she put it, the octopus' feet were white as if they had been discoloured.
The legs that had been moving earlier were also dangling, and one eye could tell they were desperate.
"Ooh."
Fishermen, including the village chief, raise their exclamation.
"Later, I'll put my finger in my head and take my gut off. Wash with rough radish grate to remove numeries"
"Daikon... Do you?
"Yeah, salt would be fine, but it's cheaper to take a numeri with a radish grate than to take a numeri with expensive salt,"
The karaki, which can take octopus numeri with salt, is because the protein is denatured and stiffened by salt and rises.
In contrast, radishes rise in the digestive enzyme system of the ingredients.
Diastase (amylase) softens the octopus on top of the radishes that can be taken cleaner, but it takes time because of its weak power to take the opposite numeri.
"Numeri is easier to stay on the inside, so wash with caution"
Wash with radish lowering over time rather than with salt. That finally completes the downward processing.
"Come on, it's your turn next, isn't it?
While wiping the sweat off his forehead, Shizuko told the fishermen so.
"Get used to it, huh? It will never be their fault that they thought it included the meaning.
Because Shizuko said this even more to them, bewildered.
"It's okay, there's plenty of rice balls."
