Chapter 73: MY GREATEST FORTUNE

It was in the evening when Seara ended the conversation with Neriah. The backyard garden was filled with a lot of people, most of whom brought their children.

Probably their family members were staying in the hospital, and they came here to let the little ones play and relieve some stress.

The sky had turned slightly dark, since the sun had set a few minutes ago.

"Thank you so much, Seara. I don’t know what else to say. It’s not like I helped you before, yet you are helping me now." Neriah lowered her head in shame.

However, Seara took her hand and squeezed it lightly. The fear and discomfort were still there, but she ignored it. This girl was Neriah, her friend. What did she need to be afraid of?

"Thank you so much."

"Don’t thank me yet; I have not yet talked to Zade about it." Seara didn’t want to let Neriah’s hope grow too fast, because there was a possibility that Zade wouldn’t agree to this.

Even though that was just her insecurities talking, Seara felt the need to say it.

Because later, while they were on the way home after she met with Neriah, Seara discussed this with Zade in the car.

"Do you want her to be your personal maid?"

"I don’t want her to be my maid; she is my friend," Seara said. She leaned against Zade’s shoulder, still wearing his jacket.

"Fine, what do you want to do? A job in a company?"

"Something like that." Seara lifted her head and looked at him. "Is it okay? But she said she didn’t go to college."

Zade chuckled. He leaned over and kissed her. "Consider it done." He stared at his mate for a while and saw the look in her eyes. "Do you want to continue your education?"

Seara had just graduated two months before she was locked up inside the secret cell for three years; she didn’t get a chance to even dream of going to college during her imprisonment.

"Do you want to go to college with her?" Zade seemed to know what was in Seara’s mind.

She wanted to go, but the thought of being completely alone in a new environment and surrounded by people that she didn’t know made her scared. She dreaded that.

"You can go to the same college as Jeremy. Both of you are the same age," Zephyr suggested.

The royal gamma was driving the car, feeling miserable because Zade couldn’t stop saying sweet things to Seara and kissing his mate. Damn. If he had not yet seen this, he might think Zade was being possessed.

After all, sweet and gentle were not the words that could be put in the same sentence with Zade.

"That can do." Zade could have Jeremy watch after Seara.

Seara knew Jeremy; he was Ace’s little brother, but she had only met him a handful of times and didn’t really know him aside from that fact.

"Jeremy is a nice kid. You will get along well with him." Zade caressed Seara’s cheeks to appease her uneasiness.

When they finally arrived at the house, Reaper was already there, waiting for her. The black wolf got up from the porch and rushed toward her, wiggling its tail.

"I miss you too!" Seara crouched down and rubbed Reaper’s soft fur.

Meanwhile, Zade and Zephyr got out of the car; they were talking about something, but Zephyr was a little bit distracted.

"It’s still a mystery that Reaper can be very docile with her," Zephyr pointed out the oddity. "You know what? That wolf bit me two days ago!" He showed Zade his left hand.

"There is nothing there." Zade only glanced at Zephyr’s hand, and there was indeed no biting mark. His hand was as smooth as usual.

"Of course, I have healed." He was bleeding when Reaper bit him as he tried to feed the wolf, but the bleeding stopped and the wound healed completely in less than half an hour.

Zade glanced at Seara’s bite mark on his hand. The bite mark was on his left hand on his ulnar border. It was not really visible, but if you looked at it carefully, you would see the teeth mark on the surface.

"Let’s get inside." Zade placed his hand on her head. "You need to eat and drink your medicine." Jane had emphasized that Seara couldn’t skip her medication, and she was under a strict diet as well.

"Let’s get inside, Reaper." Seara was in an excellent mood because she could go home and didn’t need to stay in the hospital anymore.

However, she still needed to come and see Jane and Rio once a week, which was fine with her.

Maisie and Caylin were also inside the house; they welcomed Seara by baking a chocolate cake and cooking her favorite food.

Everything felt perfect, as if nothing could go wrong, but that was also what made Seara restless.

"What if... what if something bad happens?" Seara answered Zade’s question as they lay down on the bed after having a chaotic dinner, because Reaper attacked Zephyr for accidentally stepping on its tail.

Zade noticed the slight change in Seara’s mood when he hugged her to sleep as usual.

"Nothing bad will happen to you," Zade said gently. He brushed away her auburn hair from her neck and started kissing her.

Giving her his mark was still out of the question, because it could jeopardize Seara’s progress when she was responding well to the treatment.

"What if I bring misfortune to you?"

A runt was a sign of misfortune; since she let her wolf spirit die, she lost the blessing from the Moon Goddess too. At least, that was what the people in the Blackthorne Pack believed.

And also, she was afraid that if she were too happy, then what happened next would only be sadness. Life was about balance. She couldn’t be too happy.

"When have I ever feared misfortune? Having you is my greatest fortune, Seara."
